Very firm, but not hard - comfortable and supportive even for big people
Size: Queen Style: 14 Inch
This review is for the 14 inch Queen. Like most reviews about this mattress here, including mine, they are from someone who hasn't had this mattress very long, so I will be updating this from time to time. It's easy to say it is nice and comfortable when it's new, but how does it hold up over time is important to know so updates will be coming to this review from time to time. Pros: Shipping was right on time and it was packaged carefully and received in great condition. We received it on Thursday and put it on the bed and unwrapped it as soon as we got it. There was no odor or chemical smell of any kind right out of the box. We let it expand for more than 48 hours before sleeping on it Saturday, or last night. The mattress is very firm with a plush topper on it. It's very firm but not hard. I had the best nights sleep last night that I've had in a very long time last night thanks to this mattress. It is very supportive and comfortable. I am a side sleeper that turns frequently and I found myself turning last night much less than I usually do. We are coming off a twelve year old 10 inch Serta mattress and I am pleased as punch that we went with the 14 inch mattress this time. I'm really impressed with how tall it is. As a big and tall person, the height makes is real easy to get in and out of. Cons: None yet Other information: I am a big person, 6'3" and 330#. My wife is pretty small, about 5'3" and 135#. After the first night her opinion is that she was comfortable on it and slept better than she has in a while. It may actually prove to be a bit firm for a smaller person or for someone who doesn't care for a firm mattress, , but for me, I am very surprised and happy with how well it supports me. Again, it is very firm but not hard - very supportive. The topper adds just the right amount of plush softness on top where we lie. When either of us move or roll on our side, the other person doesn't feel it on their side. Recommendation: If you are a big or tall or heavy person and need a firm mattress, or just someone whole prefers a firm mattress, I recommend this one in the 14 inch height. The 14 inch height is well worth the additional cost over the 10 inch in my opinion. I also recommend for the 14 inch mattress that you let it expand 48 hours before sleeping on it. The website recommends 24 hours, but I can tell you that after the initial 24 hour period, ours expanded another several inches over the second 24 hour period. Give it 48 hours to expand before sleeping on it, you will be glad you did. 11-26-2019 UPDATE Have slept on the mattress 10 nights now. No change in opinion, 5 stars... 12-18-2019 UPDATE We've been sleeping on this bed for a month now and still loving it. The past week has been with our little grandson sleeping with us. ... show more

Soooo confortable!
Size: Twin Style: 14 Inch
I bought this mattress in 2021. It’s now 2026 and it’s holding up so well it’s very good. It’s just the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever had. I ordered the twin size and I’ve never had any issue with it. It’s a wonderful mattress for the price.

Just WOW! Never imagined a 14" bed-in-a-box for under $250 could be this comfortable.
Size: Full Style: 14 Inch
UPDATE FEB 2024: Mattress is still going strong. It has been moved home and then back up to another apartment. We were able to fold it in half and hold it with ratchet tie straps in order to transport it in a SUV. It does take at least 2 people and ratchet ties to get it folded top to bottom ends. Surprisingly, folding didn’t negatively affect the mattress. It easily went back to its normal shape. So I bought this mattress for my son's bed at his college apartment. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I have been pleasantly surprised. He says that it is very comfortable and he sleeps well on it. The mattress pairs nicely with the ZINUS Judy Upholstered Platform Bed Frame / Mattress Foundation / Wood Slat Support / No Box Spring Needed / Easy Assembly, Full (and no box spring needed). I do recommend going with 14" mattress because I think the thicker the mattress, the more comfortable it is. My only complaint/issue with this mattress is that if you sit on the edge, you are going to slide off because there isn't much support along the edges (as you would see with a $1000 coil mattress). But for only costing $250 and arriving condensed in a box that allowed it to be easily put in an SUV and transported up to school, I can't complain. We were originally looking at mattresses at C*stc*, but this was about half the price and fit inside the SUV. It did expand to its almost full-size within minutes of removing it from the plastic, and had minimal (if any) odor. I did immediately place the mattress in a Four Seasons Full Size Mattress Protector Bedbug Waterproof Zippered Cover Hypoallergenic Premium Quality Encasement (which I also recommend.) ... show more

For a hybrid, it isn’t a bad bed
Size: Queen Style: 14 Inch
Bought the 14 inch “Jenna” version size Queen . If placing on a platform that is solid or a box frame, you won’t need to buy bunkie boards. But if you buy the metal bed frames on Amazon and the slats on the frame are greater than 3 inches apart, you would be wise to purchase the bunkie boards. I read all the reviews and weighed my options. I have it on a 16 inch platform steel frame.. I bought the 14 inch due to reading about the firmness as some folks who had back issues and a little excess chub, stated it would be a better option. I have slept on their 10 inch full size version and thought it was not as firm. It acts like a traditional mattress that has coils. I don’t feel the coils at all, but the bed does not have a lot of memory foam on it and I think it would be a fantastic bed if they would add at least 2 more inches of memory foam and I would give it 5 stars if they did. It was a good decision, but I gave it 4 stars as it’s firm but not as comfortable as it could be. Still a better option than an all foam mattress. The bed is only 6 months old so I will see how it goes in another year or so and do an update. Would recommend and will purchase another if they have another version that fits my need. It will support two people of moderate height and excess chub. Can move around on the bed without disturbing the other person. Update 4/15/25. Bed is still firm. No issues, no sagging, still wish it had more memory foam but it was worth the money. Will purchase again ... show more

Incredibly comfy and great shape 5 years in
Size: Queen Style: 14 Inch
I got the queen size of the Modway Jenna 14" mattress five years ago, and it's holding up better than any mattress I've had in my life. I'm *that* impressed that I came back 5 years later to write this review after recommending this bed to a friend. I'm a 300lb+ man, have shared this bed with a partner for several years, and even now I can't detect anything like a sag, a dip, or a lean anywhere. It's incredibly comfortable to lay on even now. So soft but still retaining practically all the integrity and strength it had when I got it. I honestly could see myself getting 20+ years out of this. Worth every penny. ... show more

Queen 14" - Very Uncomfortable; Has Caused Back Pain Issues
Size: Queen Style: 14 Inch
I own two of these mattresses. For years I lived in a small space, so I slept in a daybed. This first mattress of this kind that I bought was from Walmart and it was a 10" twin, and I LOVED it! It was so comfortable; simply put, one of the best mattresses I've had in a long time. So when I moved to a bigger place and was able to upgrade to a queen sized bed, I went looking for this mattress. I found it here on Amazon, and I bought it as a 14" queen. Immediately upon opening it; it didn't seem to want to inflate all the way, it visibly tapered down at the sides, and I could see where the excess fabric bunched up and outward. When I would lie down in the center of the bed; I could feel a big hump that ran from the top to the bottom of the mattress, and if I rolled too close to the edge, it felt like it would dump me out onto the floor. I decided to hold onto the mattress for a little while to see if it would get better. After a short time, the edges did seem to puff up a little more, and I managed to find the "sweet spot" where I was comfortable enough to fall asleep, so ultimately I decided to keep the mattress. Well, I don't know what happened to my sweet spot, because over the last month and a half, I cannot get comfortable no matter what I do, and I wake up with terrible back pain that lasts all day. I would NOT recommend this mattress in the queen size. ... show more

Great mattress but.....
Size: California King Style: 14 Inch
I have a 15 year old Serta memory foam mattress that I love, love, love. Having said that, I have lower back issues and pretty much figured the old mattress was contributing to it. I slept on a Jenna bed at a friend's house and loved it but in all fairness, the bed was a year old and totally "broken in". I came home and immediately ordered a mattress. Modway recommended getting the 14" for back and side sleeper, which is what I am. First off, the mattress never fully expanded to 14 inches. It's about 12 1/2 inches. Maybe that doesn't make a difference. Or, maybe the extra 1 1/2" would make side sleeping a bit more comfortable. I ended up getting a 3" memory foam topper for the bed which has helped tremendously!! Unfortunately, it's made the mattress that much higher and I will need to buy new sheets to accommodate the increased height. Equally, my new bedspread is bordering on being too short. Of course in the grand scheme of things, it's not that big of a deal. Alternately, I'm having to spend more money trying to improve a new mattress. If it weren't a giant pain in the butt, I'd return it....I still may...because it's also very H-E-A-V-Y! Trying to lift up a corner to tuck in sheets really takes some serious muscle. I'm going to need help to rotate the bed. My memory foam bed wasn't nearly as heavy. Sigh.... UPDATE: I had originally give this bed three stars but I'm changing it to five. This November I will have had the bed for 5 years. Granted, there's only one of me and I tend to sleep either in the middle or on the left side (where I used to sleep when I was married), and I only weight about 130lbs. Having said all that, the bed has no dips and I haven't noticed any breakdown in the support. I'd even go so far as to say that once I gave it some time, I can't imagine a more comfortable bed. Still have the same 3" foam topper from Costco too. Yes, it's heavy and it takes two people to rotate it but other than that, I love this bed and wouldn't trade it! 7/25 Back to three stars. I bought this exact same bed for my guest room; exact same size and 14" innerspring. It's isn't nearly as firm as the first one which is STILL firmer that the new one. It also is missing the side handles for ease of rotating. I removed a star for the firmness and a star for no handles. ... show more
