It works fine, but the light is so bright through the clear glass "shade" that you definitely want to avoid looking directly at it when turned on! I have a long, storied history with standing lamps. It seems every home I move into has a lack of ceiling lighting, requiring lots of standing lamp purchases. Continuing on with that tradition, chose this lamp for a child's bedroom as the 180 night lights weren't cutting it in brightness. The monsters MUST be held at bay. One problem that I've had in the past with these types of lamps is the various pieces not screwing together smoothly (ie: some are crooked, leaning, etc.). This lamp does not have this problem, I'm happy to report. It all screwed together nicely, completely, and straightly. The bottom base is nice and heavy, which means that the foundation is strong and secure. It's powered on and off by a foot pedal, which I just keep in the "on" position because we opt for smart bulbs that are controlled via an app. Smart bulb works fine in this unit. However, I will note, the unit comes with an edison style, beautiful filament looking bulb, but since we chose our standard smart bulb, you CAN see it through the transparent bulb cover. The smart bulbs generally aren't beautiful, but it's worth it to us for the functionality flexibility. So, pics attached are with said smart bulb and NOT the pretty one that comes with the unit. Would recommend using the prettier one, if aesthetics are more important to you. Overall, very much enjoying this purchase and will consider another if the need arises. ... show more

This is a nice, understated lamp in terms of size and shape, so it does fit nicely in a room (I recognize that this photo doesn't show it in an optimal place - we're working on that). It was also super simple to assemble. Even though we bought the amber-tinted glass version, it's transparent, and does nothing to soften the light of the bulb. This floor lamp is a bit of a contradiction. On one hand it has a bent over and light down orientation that seems to suggest pairing with a sitting position as a reading lamp. On the other hand, the bulb puts out enough light to explore King Tut's tomb. I suppose you could change out the bulb if you wanted a more subdued reading lamp, but I like it just fine as an area lamp, as long as I am not looking directly at the bulb, which the glass shade and the lower height don't exactly help with. Its an interesting lamp, I like the foot pedal to turn on/off, its sturdy, its stable. I just wish it was quite a bit taller with this orientation. ... show more

I got this floor lamp for my son's bedroom. He recommended to give it a five star rating lol. He commented that the design of this floor lamp is modern and elegant. He likes the foot switch feature which he said is very convenient to turn it on or off. The base of this floor lamp is very heavy so it doesn't get tipped over easily. The lamp was shipped as described and was not damaged. The assembly was easy and quick. It looks nice and takes minimal space. It can be tipped if bumped into, so having it off to the side makes sense. The lamp shade is clear glass making the light very bright and perhaps a bit harsh.

Good:The base is nice and heavy, the whole thing took about 5 minutes to put together, and the style is fine. Metal material vs the plastic ones you'd get at big big stores. Comes with a bulb.
