Bought this magnetic knife holder to solve three problems. I own multiple expensive Shun Classic Japanese kitchen knives. I was in the habit of laying knives down on my large Boos cutting board or on my kitchen counter. This poses two dangers and one inconvenience: (1) I might knock a knife off on to the floor damaging an expensive knife and (2) I might accidentally cut myself with a knife laying near where I’m working. And finally (3) Knives laying on the work space take up the very limited workspace I have in my kitchen. My one concern when I bought the stainless magnetic knife holder was the it might scratch the Damascus steel finish on my Shun Classic knives. Had the bar about a month now and I’m not seeing any scratches as a result of using the bar. It has a very smooth finish. Very easy to install and holds up well! It did fall once but I feel that’s due to the cold temp in my house with winter here and everything. After reinstalling with a stronger adhesive (I believe my hubby used gorilla tape) it’s been fine. It looks nice and saves so much space, and it’s convenient that everything is ‘out’ and about for me to just grab when needed instead of having to rustle through cupboards or drawers yet it’s still organized and out of the way. Great product! I read some not so good reviews about this, but found that they didn’t apply to the product I have in my possession. The magnet is strong and the knives only wobble depending on the overall weight distribution. I read one review that said that the inside of the knife bar was made up of multiple magnets. Mine has only one magnet. My only advice before buying this is to use a 12 inch ruler as a guide to see if it’ll hold the number of knives you have. ... show more

The magnets are plenty strong and the stainless steel looks nice with my stainless appliances. I have one gotcha I’d like to mention… …I had issues with the mounting hardware. Two cheap screws, and 2 very cheap wall anchors. Instructions have you drill 2 holes and use the hardware to fasten the unit to the wall. My experience was that I tore up my drywall and the anchors would not grip. I’d advise anyone who purchases this product to skip the hardware and instead use 2-sided mounting tape to fasten the unit to the wall. With the tape the grip to the wall will be better than the hardware, installs in 1/10th the time, and no holes need to be drilled. Other than that the product is great. ... show more

We tried the adhesion. It wasn't reliable. We tried to use heavy duty velcro. Unreliable. The difficulties could be because we installed it on the inside door of our cabinet. We definitely didn't want it on the wall. We used small screws that would not go through to the front of the cabinet to secure it. We love this! It has freed up so much space. No more annoying knives preventing the drawer from opening. We got the 14" bar. ... show more

This is a wonderful knife bar. It's shockingly hard to find a knife bar that holds heavy duty knives. This does a great job of holding knifes the whole way across the bar. I love that it keeps my counters clutter fee also. This was a great find!
