I was really nervous getting an electric fireplace having grown up with a wood burning one in my childhood and given the high-quality of gas burning fireplaces that exist today. I wanted something that looked as authentic as possible. I settled on this one because of how it looks, size (my space for it was not huge), and that is also emits heat. Ever since receiving it and assembling it, I could not be more pleased! Not only does it look wonderful and add a cozy element to my space, but really is very functional and beautiful. While the heat is subtle, my nearby thermostat has been raised up to 3 degrees just by using the fireplace. There are almost too many settings for speed of flames, heat temp, a timer, colors, etc, but having options is always nice once you know what you're working with. I prefer the traditional look, but you can tailor it in so many ways. I was worried about the quality of the fireplace itself, and the mantle and what the flame looks like, but the quality was better than expected. The flames are as real as electric flames can look, I think, and it is a very lovely piece., and even my family/friends with real fireplaces are impressed. The only thing I don't love is the crackler, which doesn't sound very realistic, and how loud the heat element can get, although it is very much just a white noise you forget after a while. Bonus points to the maker of this product, Modern Ember, who has fantastic customer service. Overall, this is a beautiful electric fireplace if you are in the market for one, and Modern Ember has been a great to work with as a retailer. ... show more

Only negative I would say is the top lights that are designed to light your logs up also shines on the floor in front of the fireplace. Taking away from the effect looks best with these lights turned off. I have written the manufacturer asking about a possible way to adjust these lights to contain it within the fire box. ... show more

Better than I expected Love the way the flame looks We have another electric fireplace and this one is much nicer. Solid mantel. Solid piece in general. Modern style fits our decor perfectly. Wasn’t expecting the fire crackle sound option. Nice surprise. It’s a little loud, maybe not so realistic but I am glad it was included. Maybe took an hour to put together?
