  • Works as described. A great buy for the occasional coffee drinker.
Color: Black
I bought this and put five drip cycles through it, and here is my impression, after reading all the reviews and using it. This mini single cup coffer maker does exactly what one should expect for a basic, single serving, drip coffee maker. How long it will last remains to be seen, but it does exactly what it says it will do, which is make a single (about 10 ounce) cup of coffee. It’s very similar in operation to those found in many hotel rooms. After reading the reviews both good and bad, I hope my findings bring some clarity to those wondering if this product will fit their needs. Yes it's lightweight, and yes it's small, as it should be for this type of coffee maker. It's really best for those that want to make a cup or two of coffee a day, or less often, move it out of the way when finished, and be minimalist in size and weight. It does that well. Use it, stow it, take it out when needed. It is very lightweight, especially when not holding water and coffee grounds. It will accommodate most ordinary coffee mugs. In the photos I uploaded, they show a pretty standard sized and typical coffee mug that holds about 12 ounces. It fit just fine, and is 3 1/8” in diameter and 3 3/4” tall. The diameter of your mug should likely be 3 1/4” in diameter or less, or it may not fit well. I have another mug that is 4 7/16” tall and it just brushes the dripper when placed in position. Doable, but any taller and it may be a problem with the fit. If you have an oddly shaped mug, or one that is exceptionally tall, it likely won't fit under the dripper, or on the cup platform. It’s a 10.5 ounce coffee maker. Trying to put a 16 ounce or tall thermal cup in place is not what it was designed for. It's a $15 coffee maker (at time of writing) to make a pretty standard size mug of coffee. It's not the "transformer" model that can adapt to every wish and whim. The placement area for the mug is just that, and seems designed for ordinary coffee mugs. The mug platform does not heat, and will not keep the mug or coffee warm. It’s solely for resting the mug while the coffee drips, and assumes you will drink it promptly while it’s hot. Yes, the dripping coffee will splash with typical sized coffee mugs. The less tall your mug, the more likely it will splash the surface upon which it sits as the coffee drips. It's the way it works for a $15, but useful, single mug, drip coffee maker. This device doesn’t include a coffee pot or splash guard. If that's what you need, don't buy this. However, if you want a cost effective way to make a single cup of coffee, this one works as intended for a good price. Using a bit taller mug than I did, but not over 4 7/16” tall, may help minimize or eliminate the splashes if that is a concern. It isn’t for me, so I didn’t test the splash issue with a taller mug. How fast it brews a cup of coffee is totally dependent on the grind of the coffee and how much you use. Coarse, medium, and espresso grinds in varying amounts will let hot water pass through at different rates. The heating of the water is constant, but how fast it drips is dependent on the coffee grind used and how much. I used two level tablespoons of my store bought medium grind coffee, and it drips out in about 3.5 minutes when filled to the max waterline on the reservoir. If you grind your own coffee, and use less or more coffee grinds, your drip time will be different. All the control on drip rate is in your hands. In my tests on this unit, I found that the heating element does in fact turn itself off after all the water is boiled off. Some reviews said it doesn't turn off. My testing is explained below. The heating element does turn off on my unit when all the water is boiled off, but the power switch indicator light stays lit. It seems the indicator light is simply to let you know the power switch is on, and the unit is plugged in. I assume this will be the same on other units of the same model. After brewing a cup, and all the last burps and gurgling of evaporating water have passed, I heard a click. I figured that was some kind of relay that sensed that the water was gone. To establish this, I put a "Kill A Watt" metering device on the power cord to measure the amps used and ran some plain water though a drip cycle. The three photos uploaded show the meter at zero amps when the unit is plugged in but the switch is off. It shows 3.01 amps drawn when heating the water. After all the water has boiled off, and the click was heard, the amps dropped to zero again, though the switch indicator light remains on. The light seems to be a status light of the switch, not the status of the heating element. At least that's how my unit works. Note that like all drip coffee makers, even after all the water has boiled off, there will be the occasional drip that will land on the cup holder after you removed your mug. In the tests I did, the accumulated drips on the mug area ranged between the size of a nickle and quarter. Dab it up if desired, or let it evaporate. I don’t know the longevity of this device, but I will update if it dies what I consider an early death for a $15 device. For now, I am pleased that this works as described at an affordable price. ... show more

  • Perfect for my needs
Color: Red
I live alone and don't want to waste coffee making a whole pot in the afternoon when all I want is a little 6-8 ounce boost of caffeine. This is the perfect solution. A quick and easy way to make a small cup for one, plus it's cute and affordable.

  • One and done!
Color: Black
I bought this to use while house sitting for a relative who had no coffee maker. It only holds a certain size cup and only makes one cup which suits me perfectly. It came with its own filter so I didn’t have to spend any more money on that. It worked well. Nothing fancy. Just gets it done. It’s not something you would buy for everyday use but it works ok. Would be fine for a camper or a second home if only one person drank only one cup per day as I do. Just wish it had a tiny bit more clearance for a different size mug. ... show more

  • Thumbelina size, things are much smaller than they appear!
Color: Black
This will only fit a literally one cup, it is very short and small. It feels more like a toy. It is going to hit the trash. nothing like the picture.

  • Nice but you need to pay attention
Color: Red
Nice, small, easy to use. Makes decent coffee. BUT BUT BUT It doesn’t turn itself off when it’s done. This is important if your routine gets interrupted. It can get VERY hot. Empty. Not safe. I kept it, I like it, but I won’t use it except for when its replacement eventually croaks.

  • I can make a cup at a time and use regular coffee.
Color: Black
Arrived as quoted and looks exactly as pictured. I usually drink. One cup of coffee a day. I don’t need or will I drink a pot of coffee. I can use regular ground coffee which makes my drink a economical drink for me each day. The pot works well and brews great coffee.

  • Very bare bones coffee maker with some flaws
Color: Black
I should preface this by saying that I only drink one cup of coffee each day - once in awhile I skip days actually for whatever reason. Basically, if you are the type who only drinks one cup a day and you don't want to spend a bunch on a bigger coffee pot (though honestly a 4 to 5 cup pot is really only like 5 or 6 dollars more...) then this might be a simple and easy option for you. With that said, this is a very, very simple coffee maker. There are absolutely no bells and whistles. Just a drip coffee maker for one cup of coffee... and you will have to provide your own cup as there is no carafe for it... but if that sounds great to you, then its small size and low price may be perfectly what you are looking for. However, as many pros as there are cons (pros being price and ease of cleaning) there are still a few cons that I found in using it. Firstly, there is no heating plate for the bottom of the cup, so the only way your coffee is heated is from the machine when it is processing your coffee and dropping it into the cup. Despite having no warming plate that the cup is placed on and having to use a cup instead of having a glass carafe that is perfectly fit for the machine like most coffee makers have aside from Keurig type devices, the coffee is at a decent temperature. The biggest flaw in this coffee maker's design, in my opinion, is the fact that you can NOT fit anything more than the smallest regular sized coffee cup under this machine. Even with a regular sized cup that came with a dish set (so it is not a larger mug bought on its own or anything) I STILL had to tilt the top of it to push it under and tilt the cup again towards the machine to pull it back out... so if you like your coffee cup well filled, it will likely spilled. I like some creamer so having extra space is fine but still, just be wary that you have to tinker a bit to get used to this so you don't fill your cup up too much and spill some tilting the cup to pull it back out from under it. Why is this the case? I don't know. It is a cheaply made machine that is only providing the bare minimum of what you need to make drip coffee. The image that you see here on Amazon is false. That red cup in the picture here on Amazon is made to look like there is a LOT of room above that cup but literally the rounded part where the coffee comes out is submerged into my cup and my cup is average sized. So unless you use a teacup or a dixie cup at a hotel room, it's not going to have ANY space above the mug or not much at all if it is average sized. So, that aside, the only other issue I have had with this coffee maker is the fact that I can't use my coffee filters. I bought maybe 500 of them to last me a very long time and taking out the basket that comes with this maker to use them (I like using the unbleached kind) the water just kept pooling up in the grounds and in the filter without letting coffee get through. Basically, the hole is too small or just not built like a regular coffee maker's hole is, so the filter essentially clogs the hole and causes the water to just pool up with barely anything slipping through once it gets way too full so to prevent it from overfilling I had to lift the grounds within my filter to give it space so that it would unclog and coffee could slip through. Which is counter-productive. Obviously who wants to sit holding a filter in their hand with the grounds? Might as well just put grounds in a filter and pour hot water over it into a cup and just not even have a coffee maker. -_- SO, I am force to use the basket that came with it, which I don't like to use and now all of my filters are useless that I bought for coffee making... but at least it makes coffee now, right? Not a good design flaw there. Lastly, as others have said, there is no safety feature. I don't care too much about this personally since I can just walk over and turn it off but some people may care. It is really a bare bones coffee maker that can only make one cup at a time and is not compatible with Keurig cups so you have to use grounds and you have to use the basket that comes with it or it may clog when using a filter. ... show more
