It can be a standalone, recessed from the wall, or per the instructions, put into the wall if you know what you're doing. A skilled professional can most likely install this recessed in brick, so you could actually have this outside as well. The price point for such an item cannot be beat. The media could not be loaded. This Fireplace is Definetely worth it..it gives that cozy warm feeling, it's realistic and good quality. I never thought i'd own one of these and i live in a small apartment so i chose this one because it came with legs or a stand to stand freely, i set it on top of my coffee table. The heat works nicely, lots of colors to choose from.. this is the 36 inch black... can make a nice gift for someone too! Anyone would love this! ... show more

Very nice 36 inch fireplace with extremely simple setup. Take your time and don’t rush install recessed in the wall is simpler than you think. If you have to move an outlet around a stud, if possible the simplest way is to go at the base of the sheet rock.
