Glad I got this to help keep my counters clear but functional! My mixer is turned in a way where it won't take up counter space, but isn't useable without moving it. Having this mat is super helpful and makes moving much easier. It's not super slick, but helps enough that I don't worry I'm damaging my mixer or counter. I do wish it had a tab to help in moving it, but it's not a major deal. It's also probably good it's not too slick as you don't want it moving around while you're using it. My Kitchenaid dances around my counter top whenever I use it. I cannot leave it unattended because it moves so much during use. When I noticed this, I thought I would give it a-go. I did not realize the mat was metal! The bottom is some foam material. I assumed this would be silicone. None of it is. The top portion is metal with a little edge all the way around the surface. It is very well constructed. My appliance fits nicely within the edged area. The metal cleans up easily, completely for those occasional flour and batter spills. This is more expensive than other products in this category. However, this is the only one I found made of metal, rimmed and has ease and confidence of clean-up. Foam or cloth would need to be sanitized because of the porous nature of the material. ... show more

I have the heavy bowl lift KitchenAid mixer that sits in a corner of my kitchen on the counter. I am short and can barely reach it to pull out for use. Pulling it out is another problem because its so heavy it does not slide well on my counter top and its much too hard to just lift at that angle. I actually wanted my husband to make a tray type of thing with wheels so I could access it without pulling shoulder muscles. I guess I am not the only one with this problem. This mat solves the problem beautifully. It fits like it came with the mixer, it makes it so easy to slide in and out of the corner yet it does not slide around when in use. Kitchen Aid mixers are great, but they are heavy and hard to move around. This slider mat fits our 5 quart Artisan model mixer almost perfectly with just a little bit of margin between the base of the mixer and the raised edges of the mat. We have formica counter tops and this thing works very nicely. Instead of lift or lift and slide to move, it's now slide to move. It's not like the mixer is on ice skates -- it still takes 'some' effort and once you've got the mixer where you want it, it's going to stay there unless perhaps you've got a major imbalance going in your mixing bowl. In that case, there's nothing stopping you from temporarily removing the mat -- the mixer simply sits on it and is not attached in any way. ... show more

This is a wonderful idea. I love my mixer but most of the time, I must keep it pushed back out of the way. It is so heavy and the rubber grips on the bottom make it very difficult to clean around without pulling a shoulder muscle to move it. I never thought there would be a solution to the issue but this sliding mat is wonderful. It fits the form shape of the mixer so it doesn't 'stick out' and and take up any more space. When I need to move it, the mixer literally glides across the counter without so little effort, it is weightless. If it gets crumbs on edges, I just shake it over the trashcan or wipe off with a damp cloth. This seems like a small thing but it really impacts my time in the kitchen. Our KitchenAide mixer is shoved back in a corner of the kitchen countertop. My wife is a petite 4'11" and has always struggled to pull out the mixer. All I can say is....GREAT invention. This slider works fantastically. It's so simple, hard cleanable surface on top, soft felt-like material on bottom. Even on uneven tile it's effortless to pull the mixer out now. The mixer fits so well on top of the slider you can't even tell it's there. I realize I sound like an infomercial for this product but it's a game changer.
