For those out there known as "lead heads" in other words you like to write with a pencil, these leads are perfect. I love the 1.1mm leads that don't break as easily as the 5mm or 7mm leads do. Only taking away one star due to misrepresentation of the lead 'softness'. It's closer to an H grade, which is harder than standard HB. Wish I could take only half a star away since this is one of the only 1.1mm lead sizes available out there. Everything else is fine, though! It will perfectly fit your previous-century mechanical pencils that are in 1.1mm size (your ancient Wahl Eversharps, etc.) and allow the twist mechanism to work perfectly. There's slightly more than 500 in the box and the plating on your mechanical pencil might wear out before you finish this entire amount. I honestly just wish that it was actual 2B though.... ... show more

thought this would be a big win for me because i have a top of old pencils that take this lead size. from what i saw of other reviews i accepted that they wouldn't be 2b. i figure hb would be fine...these are more like 2h. here's the big problem: the diameter is smaller than the old leads, which causes the lead to wiggle around and not advance correctly. i actually have some factory scripto hb leads to compare these to and the factory scripto leads fit tighter and write darker...yes, HB writes darker than these "2B" leads. so we have a box of junk here. ... show more

I got an old mechanical pencil at an auction and this lead is the perfect size to fit it. New led is too narrow for the old mechanical pencils.
