I’ll just start off by saying I don’t normally leave reviews but I thought this needed to be said. If you are comparing Purple Leafs or other cheaper on-line brands to the Mirador I would 100% go with the Mirador. I had done research for months on pergolas and ultimately purchased the Purple leaf because I could get a larger size for similar cost, all along thinking the Mirador seemed like a better build. Once I was able to lay eyes on the Purple leaf I knew I needed to return it and purchase the Mirador instead and I am so glad I did. The build quality and finish is 10x better than the Purple leafs. One thing I really appreciate with the Mirador design is all of the horizontal beams are 1 piece extruded aluminum sections with internal ribbing making them much stronger. The bases use this ribbing to fasten to the posts which worked well since I ended up shorten one leg 2” to account for the slop of my patio. The fasteners were still able to be secured as factory intended after I made the cut. The Purple leaf I ordered showed online as being one piece but once delivered I noticed all of the horizontal sections were two piece. The vertices posts are also thin gauge aluminum with no ribbing and dent easy. The adjustable Mirador shutter wall is also a game changer for wind and privacy. Something else to note is the Purple leaf came in 5 cardboard boxes via fedex, dumped in my driveway, damaged and even had parts exposed to the eye. The Mirador came in a large wooden crate and was pre-scheduled & delivered buy two gentlemen exactly where I wanted it. A friend of mine built the Purple leaf so I can confirm between the two, Mirador is the way to go. I chose this one because of the wood look, and also no beam through the middle (10x13 size). The assembly was straightforward and it is taller than I realized, which is why I like this design so much. It looks custom made and is really sturdy. The louvers are easy to open and are entirely waterproof when closed. We love sitting out there when it rains, which is why we chose this option over a custom built wooden pergola. I got it for my mother in law in December. We had 2-3 people working on it. Took us about 2.5 hours to put it up. 2 people can work on it but I recommend a third person to watch your back. The tool box and the manual are very entry level friendly. As long as you’re able to assemble IKEA drawer you’d be able to assemble this giant pergola. Ladder was the only thing we used and not included in the toolbox. So far we’re very happy with the pergola. The details such as the cutting and painting and assembling are very well designed. It’s aluminum with coating so it’s light, it’s strong. Looks great on our deck. We got some snow and rain in January and by closing the blind on top of the pergola can make it waterproof. ... show more
