I just received the motor yesterday. Right out of the box, I noticed that it DID NOT come with the Wedge2 like the description says. That’s annoying because a lot of the small lakes I will be fishing is covered in grass. I have yet to install it because I am putting it on my Sun Dolphin 8.5 and I will have to add a box to the deck I have already put on so the motor will clear the lip of the boat. Shouldn’t be too hard, just a simple 22”X6” box secured to the deck I’ve already built should work just fine. I would’ve given it a better review, but it did not come with the Wedge2 and I haven’t installed it yet ... show more

    • NOT provided with a Weedless Wedge 2 prop... Nope - just a standard prop. Shaft is forced into a bent condtion when stowing.

The text description on Amazon for the MinnKota Edge 45 clearly states that the motor is provided with a "Weedless Wedge 2, this is the text: "Only Minn Kota's Weedless Wedge 2 Prop can push weeds away and take on the thick stuff without battery-draining chopping and hacking. They've improved the legendary design with swept-back, flared blades for unrelenting, reliable prop performance." Let me tell you now that the motor is NOT provided with a Weedless Wedge 2 prop, further aggravation is the FACTORY BOX illustrations clearly show the Weedless Wedge 2 prop attached to the motor... Grrr. I complained to Amazon and they sent me a new Weedless Wedge 2 prop, but, the Weedless Wedge 2 propeller DOES NOT FIT on the motor at all. The prop is too big... Grrr again. Noticed ANOTHER problem with this motor. When you retract the motor into the 'stowed' position the long tubular flexible shaft is forced into a bent position. Come on now, why design this with a forced bent shaft when stowed??? I contacted MinnKotoa customer service, provided PHOTOS of the problem and the CS representative told me that the 'bent' condition when stowed was 'normal'. Nonsense, would not purchase another MinnKota product and I would suggest you search elsewhere for a decent design. ... show more
