  • Minn Kota Dishonest company..don’t stand by warranty
Size: 60-Inch Shaft
DO NOT BUY THIS MOTOR!!! MINN KOTA IS THE WORST COMPANY MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!!! THEY DON’T STAND BY THIER PRODUCTS OR WARRANTY! As a tradition we go fishing on Christmas morning. We were in 80 feet of water. The only boat on the lake. That’s why we like to go on Christmas morning. We went out to about 80 ft of water. We stopped put the motor out and went to put the lines out. The motor quit working, not only that, it would not retract back up out of the water. We had to limp our way back to the marina. We then had to get tools to take the motor off of the boat so we could load it on the trailer, and bring it home. They required us to take it to an Authorized Service Center 2 hours away to be looked at because it is still under warranty. They came to the conclusion that the only way what broke on the motor broke, was that we hit something! We DID NOT hit anything! There was nothing to hit!!! They now will not warranty the motor. If I could give negative 100 stars I would! This is a shady company, and of course don’t want to admit they made a bad motor and so now they are screwing over the little guy! Update: We filed a complaint with the BBB with Johnson Outdoors, received a call from the authorized service center for this motor. They still say we are lying and that the damage could have only been caused by an impact. We were told to file an insurance claim. They are now telling us to commit insurance fraud if we were to do that. My husband said to them so you are telling me to lie and was told yes just lie to them. My husband then told them I can’t legally tell them that. We live in a small community, our insurance agent would know in a second that we were filing a false claim as he knows the lake we were on and that there is literally nothing you can hit in 80’ feet of water with no other boats on the water. I just don’t understand how a company can do this to a consumer. ... show more

  • I would rate it "Zero" if I could ....Minkota has terrible service
I gave $3500 for a piece of junk...I used it new less than 5hrs. and it quit...I took it to a Minkota dealer...they tore it completely down ...9 mos. later was told they had been waiting for parts until minkota told them they weren't qualified to work on it and had voided the warranty... I called minkota they talked to me like I was a lying thief... I told them to just tell me where I could have a "authorized dealer" fix it ....it had now been 21 mos. that it had been been fixed ....I tried it out to make sure it worked ...i stored the boat because low winter water...now 6 mos. later after the 2 year warranty has run out it has quit again ... show more

  • Broken 6 times in 2 years and Minn Kota Won't Do A Thing About It
Size: 60-Inch Shaft
Minn Kota has made some great products over the years, and I've owned over a dozen of them. But this motor and their customer service and refusal to take responsibility for their faulty designs and lack of repairs will ensure that I'll be going with Garmin from now on. Minn Kota's official statement on this trolling motor breaking is that IT SHOULD NOT BE USED IN TEMPERATURES OVER 40 DEGREES. By the way, Minn Kota is based out of Minnesota... where apparently no one fishes if it's colder than 40 degrees out. It's rarely OVER 40 degrees out when I'm getting on a lake. Now they want an additional $600+ to fix it even though they have a record of the 5 previous repairs for the exact same problem and their "authorized repair facility" tells me that he's seen well over a hundred of these units with the exact same problems. In fact, Minn Kota has done so much as re-engineer the self-deploy motor, and a bunch of parts because they break so often... yet Minn Kota won't authorize a proper repair on my motor that they've been unable to fix the last 5 times. Do yourself a favor and buy Garmin's new motor. ... show more

  • Life saver!
Don’t know how we ever fished without this! It’s a lifesaver, while fishing as trolling.
