All I can say is it’s about time… most after market trolling motor plugs, including the previous Minn Kota versions were sorely lacking in materials, design, and performance. This thing is EXACTLY what a device like this should be, it’s designed similarly to industrial or military devices, built tough to perform and last in harsh conditions and repeated use. Tight, positive connections, water proofed and it locks the plug in place making sure there won’t be any power loss at the motor. If you’ve had issues with power loss, tripped breakers, or worse, burnt plugs or wires because of poorly designed plugs and receptacles, buy this thing. I took off one star for price, but I found it cheaper here on Amazon. Buy this thing, it’s what all of these devices should be.

Some things seem expensive at first glance but are worth the money. This plug is one of them. I'm guessing that many will balk at the cost like I did, but I took a chance based on the reviews and am glad I did. Everything is solidly made and the included parts make wiring a simple, no-fuss task. One thing I learned: if you live in a hot climate, don't leave the heat-shrink tubing lying about on the deck while you're working. (I discovered that South Texas sunshine will take care of the heat shrinking for you). Hopefully others will benefit from my mistake and avoid an extra trip to the hardware store.

This is hands down the best trolling motor plug on the market. It's not cheap but sometimes you gotta pay to get the best. Heavy gauge wire, thick tough plastic parts, and well engineered. 100% recommend!

I typically don’t write reviews and at first I thought this plug was way too expensive. Then I received it and it is massive. The pictures do not do it justice. I had a marineco trolling motor plug for years. Those things cost about $50 and are very cheaply designed. The Minn Kota plug is sturdy, solid wiring instructions and waterproof. I would recommend this plug to everyone with a trolling motor. I have a MK 112 36v 87”.

The wires on my old plug kept slowly working their way out. The trolling motor's power would turn off and I'd have to hit power button to start it again. Was screwing up my fishing and making things a bit dicey in heavy current. Ordered this guy and problem solved. Installed it all by myself. Learned about ferrules and their funny little screw down connection. Got to set fire to a bunch of tubing. Drilled a big hole on top of the already big hole in my boat's dash. Discovered dielectric grease and will be slathering that stuff on all things electrical. Connection has held up to some serious big waves, so yea, I'm happy with it.

the build quality of this is unmatched, period the end. The connector parts and fit and finish are very well done, if you want a reliable long term solution for your trolling motor power connector, you simply will not find a better solution. The cost is around double the knock offs you will see, but if you spent upwards of $2k on your trolling motor why would you skimp on your power connector? Install this and have 0 problems for the life of your boat.

Ease of installation would depend on your skill level with wiring and hand tools. I did not use the step up/down clamp sleeves for the wires. The fact that you can clock the receptacle in several positions is very is very nice. Minn Kota should be ashamed charging so much for this product. I believe they could gain many more product fans, by making these more affordable for the WORKING man!

Have been using this plug for 6 months with no issues. Originally had the Marinco 3 Wire ConnectPro and wiring kept vibrating loose due to poor design. The Minn Kota provides a secure wiring system that will not vibrate loose and when properly assembled will be saltwater proof. I did install an on/off switch (Perko 9621DPC), which allows me to keep the motor plugged in while storing the boat or charging the trolling motor battery. Installation was a bit tricky as I needed to enlarge the original Marinco hole, but that's another story.
