  • Great value
Set name: MS-02U-285HX(32GB+1TB)
It's impressive. Small and fast. I added 4 SSDs and took it to 128Gb RAM so it's full now. This is my second Minisforum. Handles SQL, power bi without breaking a sweat.

  • Great device
Set name: MS-02U-285HX(32GB+1TB)
This is my first mini PC from Minisforum got it to run as a home server. Slightly louder than a laptop in terms of noise, among all the fans, the PSU is the noisiest. I went with the 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD version and expected it would have 2x16 GB, but it came with 1x32, meaning I had to get into the front memory slots to put a 2nd chip in. Overall, an excellent high-end workstation. Powerful. Compact. With the ability to install a half-height double-slot GPU. ... show more

  • A "Mini PC" designed by mad scientists who clearly ran out of decaf.
Set name: MS-02U-235HX(0+0)
I’ve been building rigs and handling enterprise IT hardware for over three decades, and I thought I’d seen it all. But when this absolute lunatic of a "Mini PC" showed up on my test bench, even my stray cat moved out of the room. Minisforum, what kind of chaotic energy are you guys drinking over there? Let’s look at the spec sheet for this "sub-compact" device. It has an Intel Core Ultra 5 235HX with 14 cores. Fourteen cores!!! In something the size of a couple of stacked paperback books? I took the lid off—expecting to need a razor blade and a prayer like some other unmentionable trash brands—but no, it opens up beautifully. And inside? It’s not a motherboard; it’s an absolute architectural fever dream! There are FOUR DDR5 Slots in this mini PC! I've only ever seen TWO. And the RAM is NOT soldered on the board so you can upgrade and replace it! Appaently, Minisforum looked at a standard ITX board, laughed maniacally, and said, "Hold my energy drink, we’re going quad-channel style layout!" And it has PCIe 5.0 x16 & Four M.2 Slots!!! I am not joking. You can put four NVMe drives in this thing! And the networking? It's insane! A 10GbE port AND a 2.5GbE port. Plus Wi-Fi 7. I plugged it into my home lab, and I swear my local ISP router started sweating and vibrating. I bought the barebone model. That means it comes with No RAM, No SSD, and No OS. It’s essentially a very dense, very heavy invitation to spend another $400 making it the most over-engineered home server on the block. It’s like buying a unicycle, but the unicycle has a twin-turbo V8 engine and requires aviation fuel!!! I set it up on the bench, flipped the switch, and the sheer audacity of a built-in internal power supply (no giant external brick to hide, thank the tech gods!) handling this much computing power made me lose it. It just sits there, humming quietly, ready to process the entire trajectory of the cosmos, while I use it to host a network drive and occasionally look up frozen pizza reviews. Now, if you want a normal, sensible computer to check your email, go buy a tablet and stay away from this magnificent monstrosity. But if you want to look at a piece of engineering, shake your head, and laugh at the glorious absurdity of modern computing power... buy two! ... show more

  • A Beast!
Set name: MS-02U-285HX(32GB+1TB)
This thing is a beast. Great performance from the CPU and the NVME/10gb sfp card is amazing. Installing Windows Server 2025 was a challenge as I had to manually install some drivers but in the end is stable. I had to get an extra job just to afford some more RAM :) but 96GB later it handles many VMs in HyperV. It would likely make a great proxmox machine as well. ... show more

  • Reasonably powerful CPU, with GPU add-on, 4x dimm, 2x nvme
Set name: MS-02U-235HX(0+0)
This is a well made, easy to upgrade system. The Intel Ultra 235HX is reasonably powerful with basic graphics capabilities. It is possible to add additional GPU card which must be a low profile, 2 slot (or single slot) card with 8 power pin. I really like the sufficient number of USBC and USBA ports. The high bandwidth USBC ports can be daisy chained with USB hub for connecting more devices. It is super easy to add hardware. If it's so great, why 4 stars? Well, for a sizable machine like this, it could have added 4x storage slots but let's not criticize it for what it doesn't have. The two storage slots are very close to the shell, which means you CAN'T have any heatsink attached to them, nor does it include one. That's really bad design as nvme drives will get quite warm. Other things are well designed but this one makes you wonder. Otherwise it has the potential to be a compact powerhouse workstation if you fully load it up. ... show more

  • Great box!

I bought this to run proxmox and my router as a vm. Works great!

  • Great Mini Proxmox Host
Set name: MS-02U-235HX(0+0)
The MS-02 Ultra is a great mini pc! I just bought the lower end model with the i5 (and just 32gb DDR5) in it, but it runs Proxmox great! Currently, the machine is running the following Proxmox VMs: Plex, Windows 11, Home Assistant, and Unifi OS. There is also room to install a PCIE graphics card to gain additional AI capability. I definitely recommend this machine. ... show more

  • Great mini PC, BUT not a good hypervisor
Set name: MS-02U-285HX(32GB+1TB)
The PC is great but componets are flawed. Construction quality is top notch and the port selection is great. However the pcie setup is strange. My 25gig sfp/nvme storage card causes performance issues when connected, even when nothing is plugged/slotted in. There is also a iommu quirk with this model cpu that causes challenges for virtualization and using this device as a hypervisor. The hardware is great but the pcie quirks and faults with the pcie nvme/25gig card limit the advertised performance and capability of the device. Its not quite a mini server with with tradeoffs you need to make with storage/pcie. ... show more
