The ice and snow finally melted enough to get out to my little workshop. My Oylus mini split had been here for several weeks, but the weather just has not cooperated. The units arrived packaged in two boxes, which made it easy for me to move them out to the shop by myself. Everything was well packaged. The instructions were easy to find without having to remove everything from the boxes. The instructions were clearly written and answered all of my questions. There was a list, with pictures, of all the tools I would need (plenty of great pictures and diagrams throughout the instructions). Luckily, I had everything except a vacuum pump with gauges. A local auto parts store has a nice tool loaner program, so I did not have to purchase them. The installation was a DIYer’s dream. A cardboard template was at the top of the box and had all of the information needed to position it on the wall. Using the template, it was easy to mark the location for the mounting plate screws and the location to cut a hole in the wall for the refrigerant pipes and control wires. There were several options for placing where the pipes would go through the wall. Having marked the placement for the screws, I used the included level to install the mounting plate. The indoor unit hung on the mounting plate and snapped into place securely. Following the instructions, everything went smoothly. I’ll not bore you with the rest of the installation details, but if you like doing things yourself, this is a fun project. Once everything was connected, I excitedly turned on the heat. By this time, I was just about frozen. I hardly ever use my shop in the winter for that very reason. So I was delighted to feel nice, very warm air blowing into my little shop. I was surprised at how quiet the unit was. The remote has all the functions of the unit right in your hand, although it will probably stay lost most of the time. If I could change one thing, I would put a button on the side of the wall unit that, when pushed the remote would beep. I hope you have as much fun as I did.

I’ve been really happy with this mini split. It cools fast and heats just as well, even in colder weather, and the airflow reaches the whole room evenly. The unit is super quiet, especially at night, and the remote control is easy to use. A big plus for me was that it comes with copper piping, which made my DIY installation much easier and saved extra trips to the store. Overall, solid performance, energy efficient, and a great value for the price.

I run a small business out of a 1000 sq ft standalone building. Installing traditional ductwork was cost-prohibitive. This 230V mini-split became our primary HVAC system.
