Works great, supports Linux (Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS) out of the box without any changes to BIOS. RAM and SSD are no-name brands (Huge World, Wooposit) but easily replaced/upgraded. There's an open-source project on github to control the LCD screen. Note that you can buy the white-label version of this box (it is made by Shenzhen CYX Industrial Co., Ltd.) through Chinese vendors for just over a hundred bucks.

Inexpensive mini-PCs have a relatively hard time delivering sufficient performance. The performance of the processor is often limited to such an extent that even relatively simple tasks lead to waiting times. Fortunately, this was not the case with the Acemagic S1 and the Intel N97 was able to deliver its full performance. As a quad-core processor, the Intel N97 is still only a low-performance CPU that should only be used for simple tasks. In the price range of up to 250 dollars, you can't expect much more at the moment and basically, you can't go far wrong with the Acemagic S1. The device is economical and quite quiet in operation. In addition, I saw excellent performance in some test, which is sometimes better than that of more expensive competitors. Acemagic could certainly have generated a little more system performance with the use of DDR5 RAM, but the manufacturer decided against it, which we can understand: The added value of DDR5 only benefits the small SoC to a small extent and would probably increase the price. It comes with heavy numbers but the power behind it lacks a bit. 16gb of ddr4 is nice, but it's single channel since the n97 only supports single. It is also a mobile chip, meaning it is only capable of 4 cores and 4 threads with no hyperthreading. A tdp of up to 25W for only up to 30 seconds, otherwise is uses around 8-12 watts I saw. If you're just browsing the internet, writing, checking email it is pretty good. It is slow with any intensive CPU demanding tasks like unzipping or compression. It would be ok for streaming as well. It boots quickly because it uses a nvme m.2 drive for the OS. And overall I think this consumes very low power overall. If you spend this much on a mini PC, unless you really need the space, or don't have any PC/diy skills. I would suggest getting an older PC for around the same price. It will absolutely destroy this thing in performance. Especially if you want to alternatively game on it at all. You can get a CPU/MB combo of a 13-14gen Intel desktop for around $200 at microcenter. Use the IGPU, pick up cheap ram for $40, get a case used for 40, and a PSU, for another $40. You would have a monster compared to this. The biggest con would be someone imagining this could play any game at all. Which it can't. Aside from maybe gta5 around 30fps on the lowest setting, down sampled to 480p. Every other game out there will run around 1-5fps. Or so to speak not at all run it. Hope I helped you make an informed decision.

Got this to access alldata, cdk, and Toyotas system at the dealership. Works great wirelessly and has plenty of power for the price. You really can’t beat it. Not a gaming computer but is a pretty good workhorse

Nice, small, very quiet. I had a hard time to get an Ubuntu desktop on it - after some tries and tribulations I ended up with Kubuntu. That one works well. BTW - PXE didn't work - I had to install from a USB stick. The unit comes with a 512MB NVME disk. I tried to replace it with a 1GB stick that I had - it didn't recognize that one. So the original Winblows 11 Pro is gone (not a big deal).

This is the first mini–PC I've owned that had a display screen. The screen can display the time and date, CPU Temp, CPU load, Mem load, CPU power, and fan speed. There are four default screen settings, or you can customize it with the previously listed parameters and pick your own background. The app allows you to rotate the screen for landscape or portrait to allow the PC to be used lying flat or standing up. For the screen to work, it runs a program at startup that prompts for admin permissions every time you boot. You can also customize the LED strip with a separate app. The LED strips have off, auto, rainbow, breathing, or color cycle. There are five levels for the brightness and five levels for the speed. The PC itself is very small and has the basic ports you need, except there is no USB C port. All four of the USB ports are on the top if you use it in the mini tower orientation. Two of the ports are USB 2 and two are USB 3. The back has a power input jack to plug in the supplied 12v 4a adapter, two HDMI ports, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, an audio port, and a slot for a lock. The base is magnetic and not terribly strong. The bottom cover is held on with magnets and can be easier removed, maybe a little too easily. Inside there is one SODIMM slot with a 16 GB DDR4 module, and two M.2 slots. One has a 512GB PCIe Gen 3*4 NVMe SSD. The other slot is empty, so you could add another SSD internally. I didn't see any VESA mounting holes and it didn't come with a VESA mounting bracket. I believe they decided if you were buying the mini-PC with a display you were not going to stick it on the back of a monitor where you cannot see the display. The N97 processor is about 40% faster than the N5095 or N5105 processors. It's only a tiny bit faster than the N100. It's still a low power processor that is not suitable for heavy computation or gaming. It will run productivity apps just fine, works great with a browser, and can stream videos at 4K with no problem.

This mini-pc has excellent performance at great price. The size of both the ram and memory in this pc is far greater than you'd expect for a device at this price-point of a bit over two-hundred dollars at the time of this writing. The processor is likewise superior to what I'd expect for the money. These features make for a snappy, smoothly operating device that more than sufficient for all essential computing needs including playing higher-resolution video, providing stable video conferencing, running apps, et. al. It comes with the typical bundle, which is nice, but I especially like the option to expand the memory and the several ports it has for peripherals. It definitely merits a strong recommendation.
