  • Better than expected
Not the cheapest hand held chainsaw, but really worth the money. I have been using it for 3 weeks now, powered by a DeWalt 20v 5amp hour battery. Cuts through branches up to 4 inches in seconds, no effort. I have not tried on anything thicker yet. Refitting or replacing chain is very easy, just one screw. Tightening chain is also very easy, just a turn of a knob. The auto oiler works great, and there is a window so you can see the oil level. I have been using vegetable oil, no need to worry about special oil. I particularly like the inclusion of an 8 inch chain and bar, though I haven’t used it yet. I used the saw for 3 days on one charge, probably cut 20 or 30 branches 1 to 3 inch, and the battery still had half charge. It feels well made and solid and is saving me a lot of manual sawing, or using a full sized chainsaw. Very pleased. ... show more

  • very well built solid construction and cuts works perfectly
easy to use product for someone who has used a chainsaw only 2 times before buying this. i found installing the 8" bar and chain was super easy, just make sure the chain is oriented in the right direction. it had no problem cutting a 5" branch from a tree, then cutting it into smaller pieces. haven't tested the low voltage battery cut-off (some other 3rd party electronics don't have LV cutoff) but it claims to have it and their line of products is quite extensive and unique so i would trust that it works. would suggest using this chainsaw with a 4ah or bigger battery because those have 2 parallel banks in the battery pack as this chainsaw seems to draw alot of amps/current. if you have the dewalt "powerpack" series which uses LiPo batteries, they are able to pump out alot of current and should be fine using those. for each parallel bank in the battery it will split the amp/current load by a factor of each parallel bank. keeps your batteries healthier and last longer when you don't abuse the cells. ... show more

  • Lightweight
Maneuvers easily around tight corners. Lightweight and comfortable grip. Powerful and sharp. Wish it came with a bag. No assembly required but y I u may need to adjust the chain and don't forget you must purchase a battery and charger. It doea not come with one.

  • Great little saw
Great little saw! Pros: Light, powerful, fast cutting, ergonomic. Especially like the ease of adjusting the chain and the automatic chain oiler. I’ve only used it once for a good hard hour but was able to limb, fell and buck an 8” diameter ornamental spruce with ease (my initial plan was to use the mini to limb and my gas saw to fell and cut into lengths, but this saw took care of it with ease). , . I used a Dewalt 5AH battery and still had juice to spare. The photo shows about 2/3s of the wood-I estimate about 7 cuts over 5in and 25-30 < 5”. The runtime seems roughly the same as you would get with the dewalt circular saw cutting 2”x4”s. The reason I gave a 4 Vice 5 is the guard doesn’t open/go back enough to accommodate anything aver about 5 in diameter so for the larger cuts I had to tackle from multiple sides. Also, the guard contacted the blade when cutting in a notch, nicking the guard. I speculate I will eventually remove it since the saw seems safe without it. ... show more

  • Works great!
It's perfect for cutting limbs/trees up to approx. 4-5" diameter. Very easy to use.

  • Works great, much better than I expected.
A battery operated chain saw? Seriously? I scoffed at the idea. But I heard good things, and it's very inconvenient to use my "real" chain saw or pole saw just for trimming small branches. So I ordered it. I was very impressed with how well it cut the first time I used it. Even with the 6" blade, I was able to cut branches wider than that. I next used it to clear up some downed limbs after a storm. Again, it worked much better than I thought. I didn't need the gas chain saw for anything but the largest trunk. I was tempted to try the 8" blade on that, but it was a long day. I bet it would have worked though. Battery life was also good, I brought an extra battery but didn't need it. ... show more

  • Will be returning
I plan on returning it.. the battery and charger cost a lot more than the mini chain saw! Idk why it has to be sold separately. And it’s not a normal 20v battery there are 2 small prongs …. the battery I looked at today was 119.00 at Lowe’s

  • Keep it clean, lubed and tight
Chains grab and cut 3”+ limbs well. I have had the chain come off of the sprocket many times though. If not careful you can run the chain that way. Usually this happened when moving chain through small growth on bigger limbs. You must feather the blade into those or the shock will knock the chain off the sprocket. If adjusted tighter, the chain may not come off but I have done a lot of work with this thing and can’t get through a session without it coming off. I don’t know where to find replacement chains in case of destruction mentioned above. The chains seem to have remained sharp so far…just be sure to keep it out of the dirt. Other chainsaw blades on other chainsaws dull very quickly that way. Buy chainsaw oil and keep some in the tank. Also keep the oiler hole and sprocket clean after every session. “Take care of your tools and they will take care of you.” The plastic guard broke so I need to see if they actually sell parts. It still works fine but may be a bit more dangerous to use. Overall I’ve been happy with this tool. It does exactly what it was meant for even if a bit temperamental. ... show more
