I bought this to use for boring 1” holes into wood using an auger bit. I just used it on a construction 2x12 as a test. (Soft wood, but keep reading). Straight out of the box with a barely charged battery, it was through in under 10 seconds, might have even been 5. To compare, my prior drill, which I’ve had NO COMPLAINTS with after using for many years, a Makita 18v, was literally smoking (motor, not auger bit) while drilling hole #3. And it struggled the whole way. I still HIGHLY recommend the Makita 18v for all wood drilling short of a 1” auger. Prior cuts with a 3/8” spade bit went just fine. When SERIOUS POWER is needed, this one is EXCELLENT. Probably overkill for many. It was overkill for me until that 1” auger. I am highly confident performance in oak will also be exceptional. Haven't actually tested this out on any heavy drilling yet, but really like this Drill. As usual Milwaukee has what appears to be quality product. I believe this is very good value for my dollars. My only complaint is "made in China".

I'm always a little weary about ordering tools I use in my profession on Amazon with so many counterfeit items being sold but this is the real thing. I've been using this for about a year, at least 3x per week with no issues. Has plenty of power, battery life is very good even a year later
