  • Excellent rollaway bed
Size: Small Single - Diplomat
After reading the hundreds of descriptions of all the fold-up beds Amazon advertised, I chose this one due to its high reviews with minimal complaints. Let's face it, 99% of all the beds come from China and have countless flaws, some very serious , others minor. This bed came just as advertised with all its parts, nothing bent or broken. The foam mattress expanded up to 5" within an hour of taking it out of its plastic bag. It is more comfortable than expected (nicely firm) and had no odor to it, All the parts were very easy to put together following the order in the instructions. The braces are very sturdy and will support a lot of weight. It folds up nicely without any resistance. I will be buying a cover for for storing it when not in use for the family members who use it. One caveat: DO use the small thin spanner wrench to tighten the wheels. Hand tighten them as much as you can the until tightening only allows the included spanner wrench since the space between the castor and the bed frame is so narrow. Interestingly enough, if you follow out to the end of the five or more pages, you'll see the same beds for well over $1000 which make NO sense. I believe Amazon should delete such insanely priced items and stick to the ones with more realistic prices. This MIlliard was on the pricey side but appears to be well worth the money. I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Great sturdy fold able bed
Size: Twin - Deluxe Diplomat
This is a very sturdy collapsible bed. Reminds me of good comfortable folding beds that hotels carry at times. I am very happy with the buy. At first the mattress felt hard but after a few nights of use it started to feel comfortable. It feels like a heavy duty fold-able bed and it fits in my closet between my hanging clothes and the wall so it stays out of the way. Overall the assembly was very easy, not too much assebly, but to intall 4 wheels and 4 screws with wheel handle by hand and 4 screws to put on the handles at the end that hold the mattress in place when folded. A few faults in my opinion: 1. When item was opened the side railings are folded in two for shipping purposes seems like to me and the edge of the railing had gotten bent. I guess due to shipping. But got a few tools, a round screw driver and some pliers and with care, bent them back to their original place which allowed me to put the bed together. After you do this there is no need to mess with the side rails again as they stay there permanently after assembled. 2. The small wrench that comes with it to put the wheels on is kind of weak so you may need a stronger thin wrench to tighten the wheels on to a comfortable feel. 3. The strap that holds the bed and mattress folded together seems like may brake easily as it is only held together with a small washer and a pressure rivet and the strap itself is kind of long. I turned them once assembled and wrapped them around the handle so that it would become smaller and it would help with keeping less tension on the rivet itself. Hoping this will make it last a little longer. 4. When regular use you have to open the outer legs first and place 2 supporting arm latches to their corresponding pins on the side rail for safety and support I suppose, which is pretty easy. But when taking these apart you may have to place your foot on the bottom legs where the wheels are on and move the outer legs back and forth a little to get the support latch loose and when doing this sometimes hits the mattress so be careful not to do it so hard that you cut the mattress. Other than that it's a great buy for me. Thank you all. ... show more

  • Very good quality at a reasonable price
Size: Twin - Deluxe Diplomat
This bed came extremely quickly - only 2 days after I ordered it. The instructions were fairly clear, although there was one place where the company could have been clearer. In the package contents list, they showed each of the items but did not say where two of them would be found: those two items were tied to the bed frame, in a hard-to-see area. Until I found those items, I thought that some parts were missing. Also, in one of the enlarged areas showing proper placement of some parts, it was hard to determine which parts should go where because the enlargement was blurry. I was surprised to find such a comfortable yet firm mattress on a foldaway bed. When I tested it after assembling it, I almost fell asleep immediately. The bed is good, and the delivery was outstanding in timeliness and safe handling and packaging of the bed. The only reason I’m rating this item at 4 stars and not 5 is the lack of complete clarity as noted above. As a matter of fact, I am seriously considering buying another bed right now: soon we’ll need another one, so it would be nice to save some money on Amazon Days. ... show more

  • Very comfortable; the mattress is thicker than other brands.
Size: Small Single - Diplomat
I think this folding bed is the best one for comfort and durability. The mattress is much thicker than many others I looked at, and is firmer on one side and softer on the other. I used it with the softer side up. The frame was easy to assemble and is very comfortable. The only fault I would find with it is the hook and belt thing for holding it closed while folded up, it worked fine but I was always a little worried that it might get bumped or something and give way. If that happened it would be very dangerous. However it looks like the company has updated this bed and given it a metal swingout mechanism which I think is a lot better. But other brands may have this older belt set up. The only other thing is I WISH it had come with its own storage cover! Few beds seem to come with it, but it would have saved me a lot of time and frustration trying to find one that actually fits. Even the Milliard brand one I'm not sure if it would because it only fits over 13" thick and this bed is 15" unless you really squish the mattress halves together when folding it, which I am reluctant to do for long term storage. So I purchased another brand of cover which is a quite a bit too wide but better too big than too tight. Overall I love the bed. More expensive but worth it. ... show more

  • Easy to Assemble and Stash When Not Needed - Plus Update
Size: Twin - Deluxe Diplomat
I put this bed together a few days ago by myself. I'm a average sized, 64 year old woman with some skills, but there really was no challenge, IMHO, but for the weight, which wasn't even an issue for me. All you need to do is screw in the threaded feet/wheels and the mattress supports on the ends. A ,pretty worthless, open end wrench and an allen wrench are provided for these tasks. You fold the sides up and lock them in place, then put both sides down, securing them as instructed, and lay the plastic enclosed, deflated mattress on, and carefully remove the plastic. You are instructed to leave the mattress re-inflate for a day or two for full comfort, as you need to do with most of these types of foam core mattresses. I made the bed, adding a slightly padded mattress cover, but haven't yet slept on it as it's at an apartment that we occasionally use throughout the year. I did lay on it and it seemed rather firm compared to my regular bed, but it had just been unwrapped an hour or so earlier. I will add to this review after having slept on it. It is a full sized twin bed, though the mattress is thin compared to a spring mattress, but I expected that. If I can't sleep well on it, I will look into adding a foam topper, but that remains to be seen. It's nice that it can be made even smaller and shorter for storage by folding the sides down again, as it was when shipped, which I wasn't aware you could do when I ordered it. I'm not sure how well the mattress would fold if doing this, but assume it would be doable as it's pliable foam. In my opinion, this is a much better alternative than a sofa-bed as a temporary sleeping arrangement, if you have the storage space. Even without yet actually sleeping through a night on it, it's more comfortable than any sofa-bed I've ever slept on as there are no rails poking you through the mattress. It's nice to have the space of a full sized twin too, and normal linens fit adequately. I'm hopeful that I can get a restful sleep and I will add to my review after actually spending nights on it. Edit - I finally have had a chance to sleep on this for a few nights. The first night, I have to say, did not go that well. The bed felt too hard and I didn't get a lot of sleep, in spite of being very tired. The next few nights, however, were MUCH better, and I slept without interruption for hours, which is uncommon for me even at home. The foam is supportive while being firm. I didn't miss the depth of mattress on a regular, spring type mattress. The full-sized twin is easy to sleep on without feeling cheated for space, though I'm not a large person at 5' 5" and average middle-age weight. I'm super happy with my purchase and recommend that you try it for a few nights before you pass judgement. I did put this mattress pad: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0756Y5LZ6/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_15 on it which added just a bit of pillowy softness on top. ... show more

  • Well made and comfortable for more than just a few nights
Size: Twin - Deluxe Diplomat
This folding bed is the best. My husband and I ordered it when I was diagnosed with an illness that required us to have family and friends staying here for a week or two at a time. We have just a small office for guests so we needed something that we could quickly set up and easily move out of the way during the day/between visitors. We considered a lot of options. I also read the reviews of the different Millard models before deciding to spend more on the Diplomat, and I'm so glad I did. The bed was just what I hoped it would be-- easy to roll/fold, even by myself; sturdy, firm enough to support but not uncomfortably hard; and long/wide enough for people like me who move around a lot. It fits along the wall behind the door in a small room and really doesn't take up much space. The mattress quality is excellent for a folding bed-- much better than other options I've tried over the years. The frame seems well made and is very, very sturdy-- no springing with each move. And the regular twin bed dimensions make it feel more like a "real" bed- it never feels like you have to balance on a plank like some narrower ones I've slept on. All of our guests said it was really comfortable for longer term. I thought maybe they were just being polite, but I ended up sleeping on it for a week recently, and honestly I never got tired of it. I have some back issues so was pleasantly surprised. I can set it up/take it down by myself without a problem (extend the legs *before* you undo the hook :0) ). We've had it for almost a year and a half now with people using it steadily for about 6 months last year and occasionally since then, and I don't notice a difference in the support/comfort. Honestly I can't think of any downsides-- money very well spent; it's going to our new house with us. Update: It's six years later, and the bed is still in good shape. I slept on this for three and a half months last year when my husband got home from the hospital, and I'm sleeping on it for a week now. It's starting to feel a little flatter, but still comfortable for me. ... show more
