I'm trying formal style this time. And this Mikasa was an excellent choice. The color and pattern are understated and yet elegant. I noticed slight imperfections though. The edge on some bowls are slightly crooked. And the bowls are shallow. It's ok for soup, but you'll need another set of bowls for things like could cereal. Beautiful, but description says not microwave safe in an expanded area but lists as microwave safe in another area. There were also a couple black spots on the dishes in the finish. Such a beautiful set! I like the pattern. I think it will last long as long as I keep it safe. I do dishes by hand, after many everyday uses, they are still good. I got 2 largest plates that were not even, but i mean, it comes 40 pieces with this sale price, i can not complain..

I've been wanting some china for a whole. I've seen the Mikasa Parchment online and really liked it. When I saw this set at black Friday sale price I HAD to order it!! When I opened the box (undamaged) I was thrilled with the pattern on the plate, until I saw the flaws. I pulled out 3 plates and all 3 had flaws in the silver trim-- it was rubbed off in several places and 1 was chipped. The first plate had a black spec in it -- could feel it but it wasn't something that would come off. It is embedded in the finish on the plate. The pictures don't show up as well, but even my husband remarked how bad they looked for new china. I am so disappointed. I do love the pattern but not this set with flaws. I haven't even taken any more pieces out to see how many are messed up. 3 plates was enough for me.. These plates appear to be seconds and should be labeled as such. I won't be able to ship them back for a few weeks due to my schedule, but will definitely be sending them back. Very disappointed. (But will definitely try to find this pattern of china that's not seconds- I love it!) ... show more
