Honestly I didn't have very high expectations of this kick stand, but for $9 I'm really pleased! I bought this to put on the back of the case of the iPhone 5S that my husband and I gave our 4.5 year old son after we upgraded so he could watch his videos and play his games on it. One of his favorite things to do is put little music videos on YouTube kids and jump around or do the actions with them (Going on a Bear Hunt, Slippery fish, Wheels on the Bus etc). That's hard to do when you're holding the phone, so I got this little kickstand so he could prop it on the table, his toy box, the window sill, fireplace, dresser or wherever he's playing so he can play along with whatever he's watching/listening to. So far it works really well! What I like: - Metal, not cheap plastic like similar products - Love the magnetic closure that keeps it from popping open spontaneously - Sticks really securely to the back of the case we have even though it's not a perfectly smooth surface. To be clear, I understood before I bought it that it was only recommended for use on smooth cases or surfaces but I was hopeful that it would work well enough on the textured plastic back of case we have (see pics) and so far so good! Definitely has exceeded my expectations on that front - VERY small/slim profile!! I love that this is hardly noticeable when it's closed. We charge the phone on a charging station/dock and this stand doesn't interfere with the phone standing up straight up on the docking station. Also, because of its slim and rounded profile and magnetic closure, it doesn't get caught or opened when stuffing the phone into a pocket or bag. - Good viewing angle! The viewing angle (which obviously depends in part on where/how you place the stand) seems to be perfect for sitting at a table. - Attractive. This kick stand is tiny but it doesn't look cheap or cheesy. Its look very much compliments the sleek sexy style of most modern smart phones and while we bought this for our kid, it would very much be an accessory that both my husband and I would have no problem putting on our own devices because it looks professional and elegant. - Comes with an extra sticky strip - Universal for any case or device! Things I wish were better: - It definitely helps to have finger nails to open this kick stand. My 4.5 year old with his chubby fingers has a really hard time opening it by himself. I know the minimal design helps it keep a sleek and slim profile, but I feel like there could be an easier way to open it. - The hinge (which I have had NO problems with so far) does strike me as being a little delicate. Again, it hasn't broken, so I have nothing to complain about, but I do worry about it breaking. However, for the price, this is something that is easily replaced and that you get your moneys worth out of very quickly. - Doesn't come with any directions for application or use. I mean, it's pretty intuitive, but I always appreciate it when items come with some sort of note on the IDEAL application location and process and tips for use etc. This came with nothing whatsoever. In summary, for the price and our uses, this little kickstand seems to be in a class by itself and I can highly recommend it! I have had great experience with a variety of Spigen products by now and this is no exception! And for the record I did NOT receive this item for free or a discount.

Kickstands are notorious for breaking, I've tried several built-ins... eventually gave up as they all break quickly... rendering the case useless for that anyway... so looked for the slimmest kickstand possible that would still be durable and yet replaceable and I'm so happy with this purchase. Sticks on my rubber case strong! I've dropped this thing countless times over the course of a year... the kickstand has popped open, but has never broke! I installed it as high as I could on the back without being on the tip-top, so just under the camera lens... about 70% up the back of the phone... and this allows me to lay the phone relatively flat with only the slightest incline, but that works to my advantage typing and reading and it's stable as can be! When open, it holds up my Note 9 perfectly in landscape mode, doesn't work in portrait mode. Need a fingernail to flip it open! Don't know how you'd open it otherwise. It pops open, and clicks shut very securely! Just the other day I noticed it was slowly popping open over time of using it, and found one of two magnets was coming unglued from one side... simply super-glued it back, and has been rock solid ever since! Though I lay it flat more than not, the back of the kickstand takes that abuse but it is not all scratched up, it looks as good as when I put it on, really! It's not at all intrusive when using the phone, or holding it, it's barely noticeable. I LOVE this thing, and highly recommend it. If it ever broke, I'd get another in a minute! * UPDATE * Over a year of drops, held up great, but finally a terminal drop busted it good. I'm ordering another one RIGHT NOW!

When I found this kickstand I was thrilled because it was exactly what I needed. I have an iPhone 7 Plus and this little add on was perfect for adding a way to watch videos. When I received it I was pleased with the packaging, a simple plastic bag with the kickstand and an extra adhesive which is welcomed. I have a Rhinoshield bumper in my phone and I thought the kickstand would be flush with the bumper since it is thick, but it still stands out a little bit. It's not a big deal at all though. The kickstand is very well built but I can see why people think it is flimsy, it is very thin and the spring to open it feels extremely fragile. I have used it for a little over a week and haven't had any issues, although I am still wary it will break unexpectedly. My only real issue is that even though I placed it perfectly straight, since the bottom end is round,the phone doesn't stay flat against the table. Admittedly I placed it in the bottom of the phone so while in portrait mode the kickstand is on the far right of the device. However, I think that this shouldn't happen since this in my opinion is the best place to adhere the kickstand. Also Spigen sells cases that have the kickstand built in and it comes right in the same place so it should sit flat against the table. Other than this it is a great and mostly discreet gadget, especially for the price since it adds a lot of funcionality to any case you already have.
