  • Beautiful dinning set
Design & Aesthetic This set is absolutely beautiful—the soft blue stoneware has a subtle texture and finish that feels elegant yet modern. The organic freeform shape adds character, making each piece look unique while still cohesive as a set. I adore it. Quality & Brand Mikasa has a reputation for quality, and this set lives up to that standard. The stoneware feels durable, with a good weight in the hand, and the craftsmanship is excellent. It’s clear that this is a brand built for both style and longevity. None have chipped (yet), and I am a bit nervous about the sound that the dishes make when stacked together, but I hope that by being careful, I can keep these in use for years. Practical Use The plates and bowls are well-sized for everyday meals, and the set transitions seamlessly from casual dining to a more polished table setting. They’re dishwasher safe, making cleanup easy, and they withstand regular use well. Bottom Line A stunning, high-quality dinnerware set from a brand I trust. The combination of beauty, durability, and everyday practicality makes it a worthwhile investment. ... show more

  • Love The Different Design
First of all I was not sure if these would be “normal Mikasa” quality dishes, but they are. These dishes are quality stoneware which is not easy to find at a reasonable price. I was pleasantly surprised. The color and design is consistent across the set. I like the lighter more “earthy” tones in this set. The spiral design on the plates is a nice touch that I missed in the product photos. One thing that I didn’t realize is that these dishes are NOT perfectly symmetrical. Personally I don’t mind that, but if you are looking for perfectly round or oval dishes you may not like these. They have a shape that makes them almost feel more hand-made, though they are obviously not hand crafted. I guess that is what they mean by “modern organic shape”. Some edges have a bit of a flat side. Makes it harder to stack them perfectly, but not so much as to make a stack of plates unstable. Overall I like the design and the quality. The price is exactly what I’d expect to pay, even a little less than I’ve seen locally for similar quality products. Recommended. ... show more

  • Natural looks, colors, and tones in a design that mimics hand-made aesthetics – video attached.
The media could not be loaded. Quickly, before I get into the details on this dinnerware set, I just want to point out that all of the items were meticulously, diligently, and carefully packaged with redundancies and in such a manner as to account for the realities that can occur during the shipping process. The careful attention to the packaging makes it clear in my eyes that the manufacturer wants the set to arrive undamaged, and they managed to do all of it with recyclable cardboard alone – nicely done folks. As it turns out, it also set a positive first impression that I’m happy to say, continued throughout my evaluation of this pleasant and functional dinnerware set. Many material items these days have an air of artificiality about them. Sometimes even the plates and bowls we eat from. I’m sort of an outdoor kind of guy, and I appreciate and find comfort, meaning, and solace in the things nature has to offer us. The natural, subdued colors and the fact that none of the plates or bowls are perfectly round, made a big impression on me. Each item has a shape and lines that make it appear that they were formed with the inconsistency, but care of a human hand. Yes, I know that is not the actual case, but they did a good job of making it look that way, and it is a welcome change in my kitchen. None of the bowls or plates are perfectly round – they just look natural, and it appeals to me. I believe the manufacturer refers to it as an “organic freeform shape.” Despite looking natural, care and precision were utilized in manufacturing this set. Each piece, although appearing to reflect the variations you would expect of hand-crafting, sits flat on a table. Also, I’m particularly pleased with the design of the small and large plates. The inner portions are nice and flat, while there is a minimalist, yet importantly effective raised edge around the perimeter of each. That perimeter keeps food in/on the plate, including liquids that you might expect from a juicy steak for example. I can’t say enough as to my appreciation for having, well, plates that are basically flat, with just a nice retainer exterior edge. All of my other plates in my kitchen taper inward toward the center in one fashion or another. Try laying out tortilla chips evenly without them sliding inward and messing up your neat plan for making nachos, lol. The flatness of these Mikasa plates keeps everything in order – nothing is sliding around. Both plate sizes stack neatly in the cabinet for the most part, but the bowls I could see being a little tricky if you were to order two sets and have to stack them eight-high. Stacking the bowls four-high is ok, but they are slightly wobbly due to the fact that they don’t fit well together. And it is worth noting that they take up about twice as much space vertically when stacked compared to what I would refer to as normal bowls. Not a deal breaker by any stretch for me, but something to be aware of. It’s worth mentioning that the edges on the plates might make for a little more care when pulling one out of the cabinet as the edge of the plate below will just slightly try to hang onto the plate above. I did include a video, and I tried to show the colorations and tones of the set. During that video I placed a very blue plate that I have next to these, so you can get a better impression as to the colors. To me, these plates have a blue/green “earthy” look, with some sandstone tones mixed in there. I think it adds to the overall natural look of the set, and the colors and patterns vary slightly between each piece to reinforce that “hand-made” look. Also, it’s worth mentioning that I have microwaved with these, and I’ve sent them through cycles with my dishwasher with no issues. While the looks are going to be subjective, for my kitchen and style, I’m quite partial to this dinnerware set. I appreciate the design that is meant to emulate the simple, comforting appeal of “hand-made” for everyday items like plates and bowls – it’s a nice change. The quality seems to be excellent, and the price seems pretty reasonable as well, currently $118 for the 12-piece set. ... show more
