Top Amazon Reviews

  • Perfect so far
Size: 5.1 Cubic Feet (Convertible)
Background: I had wanted to buy one of those instant countertop ice makers but did not feel I would be getting a quality product for less than $200. By accident I came across these mini freezers and thought if I was going to spend $200, why not go for a full on freezer and make lots of cold ice? So that led me to buy the 5. 1 cubic foot mini freezer which can double as a fridge if you need that. The following is my Initial impression only. Durability is TBD big there is a one year warranty I Received the unit delivered to front porch by friendly Amz person. Kudos on delivery!!l Off topic: the Amazon truck made an ungodly screeching sound when it was backing up. I was working out in the garage when the unit arrived and thought my neighbors dog had attacked a goose. Nope. That's the new backup warning signal. Back to the review... I inspected box based upon various reviews which mentioned dents/damage. Box looked good. Unboxing was easy enough and thorough Ispecton revealed zero damage. Maybe a very slight cladding bend at one lower corner but insignificant IMO. All panels were in excellent shape. Installed in my previously prepared spot and plugged in after ops manual directed 30 minute wait. Unit immediately began cooling and I loaded with four large ice block molds also purchased from Amazon. Freezing in progress but it is COLD in there. You will need to organize storage because you are basically placing frozen goods in a 30 inch deep box. The provided basket will help but we plan to buy several additional boxes to segregate meat, frozen fruit and so on. There will be some fussing around getting to your desired foodstuff but easily managed with a few containers. There is no auto defrost so you will have to do old school defrosting from time to time. It's is weird in that there is a defrost drain at the bottom of the unit but this is not identified in the ops manual. So you will need that drain occasionally for defrosting. I am already seeing some frost build up. Of course I am opening the unit much more frequently than normal because I want to observe how it's working. This will allow humid air to enter the unit. Lesson is open the thing only when you NEED to open it. Overall really pleased so far and would recommend this unit unequivocally. As mentioned earlier. TBD on durability. Update 11/13/25 Unit still going strong. Worked great during summer heat in my garage. Tried some removable baskets for organizing stuff but they were more hassle than they were worth. The biggest issue is organizing stuff in this deep box. We have pretty much gone to storing things in the box in am unorganized state and moving things to our kitchen freezer as needed. Example, ice cream sandwiches. Put the big box in this freezer and move a few to stock the kitchen fridge from time to time. This keros the kitchen freezer manageable but allows storage of a reasonable amount of stuff between Costco runs. Other than that, this thing is a great. Compact freezer and working fine with minimal impact on power bill. ... show more

  • No wonder these are so popular
Size: 3.5 Cubic Feet (Convertible)
I bought the 3.5 cu. in. model. It’s compact, stylish and quiet. The knob was set to “Freezing” when it arrived, so I left that alone and just plugged it in. Filled it with frozen food from the grocery store 4 hours later. 24 hours after plugging it in, my thermometer read exactly 0 degrees (F). I’m extremely satisfied with this purchase so far. ... show more

  • Highly Impressive First Impression
Size: 3.5 Cubic Feet (Non-Convertible)
I am an 80-year-old widower in a comfortable senior community. The apartment was furnished with a smallish refrigerator/freezer. Since I rely heavily on my personal chef, Marie C and her associates, freezer space has been at a premium since I moved here 2 1/2 years ago. I found myself missing out on very attractive sales simply due to a lack of freezer space. I had a convenient spot on the open wall in my kitchen, so I began looking for a small, well rated chest freezer to enable more convenient frozen storage. Amazon had quite a variety of 3 1/2 and 5 cu ft freezers from which to choose, and after more than enough deliberation, I settled on the Midea 3.5. The price was certainly attractive, and the reviews were good, so I ordered one. Free delivery was promised in less than a week, and Amazon even beat that. Two reps showed up on time and spotted the boxed unit where requested. The carton was completely unblemished and easy to remove from the unit with a box cutter. The freezer inside was protected on all sides by substantial Styrofoam forms. A brief instruction manual, frost scraper and warranty were in a plastic bag taped to the unit. The removable basket was also taped to the inside top to preclude damage from rattling around loose. All sides, top and the inside were in pristine condition. After removing all packaging and the few strips of transparent blue tape, I was ready to plug the unit to the wall receptacle and get the chill going. I planned to wait the prescribed couple of hours to enable the freon to settle, but I did want to locate the plug and ensure that it would reach the receptacle. Here things got a little tricky. Fortunately, in the course of my reading of prior user reviews, I learned that removing the cord from the lower rear of the unit required close examination of the closely fitted white on white enclosure to locate a small depression for use in opening the tight-fitting small door. I found the depression, found a way to quickly leverage the door open and released the plug and cord of sufficient length. I closed the door, easily moved the unit the prescribed 6 in. from the wall and after the few hours wait, plugged it in and listened for startup. I had read that the unit was quiet, but this thing is REALLY quiet. It was so quiet and vibration free that I wasn't certain it was running. After a couple of hours unattended, I returned, lifted the lid and looked at the thermometer I had hung from the removable basket. To my great delight, it already read near zero degrees F. Since that time a couple of days ago, I have ordered some stackable wire baskets to make locating and handling frozen items more convenient and placed a dozen or so initial items in the freezer, still in their plastic grocery store bags pending delivery of the new baskets. Once I get everything together and loaded and have some period to assess longer term satisfaction, I will update this review. Until then, I am completely satisfied with my utterly silent new white chest freezer. ... show more

  • Excellent freezer, very quiet and convenient.
Size: 7.0 Cubic Feet (Convertible)
This is a truly excellent chest freezer. My freezer and refrigerator were cluttered and not working well. Now that I have this, I have so much extra space and my fridge is working again. It's great for storing larger items or getting extras on sale. The freezer itself works perfectly, keeps food solidly frozen without fluctuating temperatures. It's surprisingly quiet, often completely silent and still quiet even when running. The lid is very solidly built and seals extremely well but is still easy to open. I like that the lid remains open while in use and has a nice led light to illuminate the interior. The settings dial on the front is very easy to adjust and seems pretty accurate in terms of how cold the freezer gets. Also very nice feature to be able to use it as a refrigerator if you want. Overall, I'm very impressed with this chest freezer and it is wonderfully convenient. I can finally buy larger items to store and it helps with managing my refrigerator and freezer as well. Very highly recommended. ... show more

great size for my small apartment. So far, freezes well and no leakage. Quiet. One star off bc it is starting to build frost. I hope the icy layer doesn’t get too thick.
