Do not buy - had only 2 months and it just stopped working. It just shut off without warning. We went through all the troubleshooting, looked up videos, called the technical service (which was no help). After we told them the model they just said they would send us a check…so they must know this unit is faulty…I wouldn’t risk it. It’s a waste. We have the other smaller unit and love it. Waiting on the check to come in now so…*fingers crossed* it actually does? I will not be buying Midea again though. I’m just gonna go with two smaller units and make sure it has the Amazon warranty. They told me I could do whatever with this now big hunk of junk…thanks? ... show more

First off, this thing cools the room quick. That's the only reason it gets two stars instead of one. I have not used the heat pump function yet so I cannot speak to that. Noise level is manageable and a little quieter than other units I've had, but still a jet engine if you have your head right next to it. So keep your noise expectations realistic. Remote, app and smart home functions work well. It is very heavy, but on casters. Second, it was missing several pieces of kit listed in the manual. I was fortunate that I received what I needed, but others may have issues. Now, to the big issues. I ordered this unit because our only AC unit went out during a heat wave. After it came in, I spent about an hour unboxing, reading, watching the videos, and installing the mountings per the user manual. I plug it in and spend another half hour, in a nice and chilly room, trying to set it up on the main app and Alexa. Only after that did I notice an error code blinking. EC 54 I think it was. I of course panicked, unplugged, and called Midea customer service. I was told it needed to be returned through Amazon and that there was not an at home fix. So I head to Amazon customer service and was "helped" there. The guy was kind enough and worked with me as I asked several questions and he guided me through the process. He offered a partial refund of around $93 if I wanted to keep the unit as is or send it back for a replacement/full refund. Well I spent a good chunk of money on this so I wanted one that works correctly. I ordered the replacement with the assurance that some kind of partial refund would be provided to me anyways for all the trouble after everything was settled. The guy said that they would definitely work with me on that and put the note on my account, but I havent heard anything yet. The return process should have been super simple and free in theory. I had asked to keep the unit until the replacement came the following week because of the heat wave but was told I could not. I had to take the mountings out and scrape the foam off of my window sills. I was lied to about the pickup date and it couldn't be picked up yet because I work and I had not yet spent $35 of my own money on packaging tape, straps, and plastic wrap to secure the unit. So I head to customer service again and they take care of me and reschedule everything. Maybe a 3 minute phonecall in total. The unit was picked up the next day. But this is during a heat wave and it took a few days for the replacement to get here. It's been terrible, but finally the replacement has arrived... broken... It works, but the vent guard is broken and there is a few minor cosmetic defects on the unit and power cord. But my main concern is that some weird little round white piece that has fallen under the fan where I cant see it, but will occasionally hop up into the outer louver (the cylinder piece on top that swings) where it rattles for a time. I haven't been able to get a good video of it because it happens randomly. I think that it is part of the outer louver though because that it is a little shaky and loose. Still swings properly though. I am terrified for when I use the heat pump in the winter though because what happens if that piece melts in there? Another word of caution, keep a towel handy and do not tip this thing at all. Don't even touch it. It will leak water everywhere. I had it on for less than 5 minutes and tilted it maybe 5 degrees to look closer at the damage and now there's water everywhere. I'm really disappointed in this whole ordeal and feel like I'm going to be in a constant return/replacement cycle with this thing. ... show more

We are very pleased with the unit. It does a great job cooling our room (haven’t tried the heat yet). It’s quiet and pushes a good amount of air. Do I wish the parts that go into the window were a little thicker? Yeah, but they work fine. We taped all the seams with black electrical tape so there weren’t any cracks to let in very little insects. It’s solid now. I do like the idea of the hose within a hose. I went outside when it was running and it really exhausts out the heat. That was impressive. I see that some reviewers thought the installation was complicated. Admittedly, the instruction video is lacking detail. But if you just go step by step according to the manual, the installation isn’t too difficult. Would we buy it again? Yep. ... show more
