Hands down a great purchase. I’ve had this unit for over 2 years now and it’s been rock solid. The unit has strong output and is reliable. It came with standard adjustable window fitment brackets and an extra vertical attachment if you need the bracket to be vertical. The unit looks premium but is made externally entirely of plastic. Cooling performance is strong even in the midst of record heat waves. It’s a very efficient unit and can be quiet enough to use in a bedroom especially with the sleep mode set. Drainage has been a non-issue for me even in rainy, humid, New England climates.

Well, for quietness, definitely one star. This ac has inverter combined with fan system, when you change the fan speed you are actually change the compressor with the inverter. This function is fine. I got a Gasbye inverter portable ac, that one has a seperately inverter function which work independently from the fan system. So for media one, the combined system greatly decrease the noise from the compressor, compared to those single hose ac without inverter, this one can even reach the noise of a fan since you can switch the fan speed to extremely low with the compressor. In this case, it will be fantastic. However, the inverter really make high pitched frequency noise, that's the main issue prevent you from sleeping. Every inverter ac has inverter noise like this, but this one makes it to be much more obvious since the compressor noise is much lower. In most cases, with the compressor noise I can asleep but not with inverter noise since it's high pitched frequency noise, keep tortune my ear and brain. By the way, stupid hose design, stupid panel. Media should learn from other ac company, just give more stable panel with real screws and split the hoses to 2 not this big fat one. When install in vertical windows, if your window is a bit deep in the window frame, the frame will block this big fat hose since it only give a conversion head but not install the hose in vertical way directly. In this case, you need to stick a vertical gap between the panel and the window frame, that's stupid. So in general, cooling system for this 12000 dual hose inverter is fine, noise of inverter is way too bad, product is too expensive, not worth. Maybe really no portable ac is able to put in a small bedroom for sleeping at night, if your window is horizontal and get no Anti-theft pole outside, try to get that media U shape window ac, a window ac will be much stronger and the U shape will really make it to be quiet, also much cheaper.

This air conditioner kept my large master bedroom cool the past year with no issues whatsoever. I loved how it has a variable speed compressor, which allows it to run quiet and efficient once a room gets to temperature, but on those days when you want to cool the place down quickly, you can let it rip and cool the room down quickly. I live in California, so humidity isn't an issue here and I've never had to deal with any leakage issues. The portability aspect wasn't important to me since it stayed in place the entire time, but it does have caster wheels if you wanted to roll it around from room to room. That said, the thing is HEAVY and the exhaust kit would need to be reinstalled in each window and that is the only downside of this unit. It feels like very cheap plastic and I could see it breaking easily. I used aluminum foil tape to hold the outlet duct into the window exhaust piece and then tape the plastic piece into the window frame itself. This kept it all attached together and I never had any issues with it breaking. Don't plug on moving this up and downstairs regularly or you're going to hurt yourself or the unit. I particularly liked the scheduling smart features and the bedtime mode. I like falling asleep in a chilly room but I don't want to wake up in a cold room. This allows for you to have precise control over the temperature while you're sleeping. My only other gripe with the unit is the unit makes a rather loud high pitched noise when turning on the compressor and thumps rather loudly. I got used to it, but I could imagine a sensitive sleeper would be woken up.

I've owned this portable AC 2 months shy of a year, and it's a great product. I live in a homeowners association that doesn't allow window units, and am renting a house with a coolant-leaking, rusted-out AC that the landlord won't replace. I wanted to be able to sleep comfortably at night, and my bedroom has often been too cold with this unit! I also live in Florida which has consistently high humidity, and with other portable AC's I've owned in the past I needed a hose and a beverage cooler I had to drag to my bathroom to empty dozens of pounds of condensate water every morning, but this unit is handling the humidity with no problem. To rapid fire some things about the unit: - It can vibrate, rattle, and make an electrical whine when the compressor kicks on, but it's relatively quiet once it is running. It's about 3 feet away from the foot of my bed and while noise bothers me, and I have no issue with the noise of the unit. - The fan has a vertical swivel mode, where it can continuously move the vents to transition between blowing air at the ceiling or directly forward. I don't tend to use the feature, but the vents did make a rattling noise when moving sometimes. - It does have a minor water-trickling noise at times. I believe it's moving water around for efficiency reasons as well as to evaporate it. I live in a very high humidity area overlooking a lake, but with a central AC also helping it dehumidify, so your mileage may vary. - The thermostat is the reason I have taken off a star. I typically set it to 68 at night, and I have a warm dog that sleeps between my legs so I really want it to be consistent. The unit could think the air next to it is 66 degrees or lower, but the thermostat on the remote laying on my nightstand 8 feet away from the unit could read 71. Now, an amazing feature is that you can tell the unit to go off of the remote's thermostat, which alleviates this issue. The problem then is if I change the temperature I want from Apple Homekit or the app, it's not going off the remote anymore. It would be great if you could force it to use the remote temperature as the more accurate reading at all times, but oh well. - The dual-hose is great and never gets hot, but in the circumstance you actually prefer the outside air to the air inside the room, there's no "passthrough" mode. For example, you're fighting against a central AC heating the house too much in the winter, but the air outside is nice and cool, the unit can't suck up the nice outside air and blow it inside; it only conditions or recirculates air from the room it's in. It's not the biggest deal to maybe crack the window a little and leave the unit in fan mode as it still has some dehumidifying, but it's a missed opportunity. - The window it's exhausting from gets direct evening sun, and the black plastic of the exhaust has already become brittle to the heat or UV. It has these plastic clips holding the hose to the window bracket and I tried to unhook it to do some cleaning, and both clips just snapped right off. It's annoying but not a huge deal — these brackets are ugly anyway and I can just support it another way and close the drapes again. If you want a truly "portable" unit that you move between rooms, I would maybe cover the ends exposed to the sun. Overall I'm extremely happy how evolved this portable AC is compared to the ones I've tried in the past. So low maintenance, and with the remote next to me it knows exactly how comfortable I am. I've not had a single issue outside of the above.

I've had this unit for only 3 weeks now and so far so good. I will try and write another one after a few months. What's good about it is the vents that blow out the cold air are a wide output and plus it has a swivel that blows the air up and down so it makes the air go in all directions and if you don't like that you can just set it on One Direction. All the other units that I looked at only had it blowing up from the top of the AC unit which to me defeats the whole purpose of getting to lower levels of the room where you will be sitting or lying down. The compressor is very quiet and so is the fan. It has a sleep mode that a lot of units do not have and it saves on electricity. The new design of a dual hose unit that is two hoses in one is genius! It comes with an adapter that snaps right in and you can keep the hose straight and not have to twist it. Now everybody complains about the window assembly kit and what a pain in the butt it is but that is like that on any portable AC unit you buy. The plastic screw posts don't push in all the way but just enough for you to push in for it to stop the panels from sliding and I recommend you put those plastic babies on both sides of the sliding panel. You will also need to use tape like clear packing tape or duct tape to the back side of the panel to keep it from loosening or sliding down. I have a Long window height and there was extra extended panels that made it go all the way to the top so that was great. You will notice a tiny bit of some air gaps around the adapter clamps and the hose but it's negligible. When I did research there were only two models out there that were dual hose in hose units, the Midea and the Dreo. They both look very similar except for one important factor is that the Dreo blows cold air from the top and doesn't have a big vent that swivels like the Midea, and I liked it because it was black and modern looking I used to have a white one and it eventually turned an ugly yellow color. The one thing I can say that can use Improvement are that the LED panel is hard to read on the unit itself at night time. It should have had much more backlight and the letters are hard to read and I fear as the unit gets older that the display is going to be harder to see the white letters. Also the remote control back light so you can see the display on the remote control longer is always turning off after just a few seconds and doesn't give you enough time to see the letters or numbers. But I do keep it near my bed on the table so that the AC unit can get the proper temperature of the room from the remote control. I almost always use the Midea app to control the AC unit from my living room so I don't have to get up. This unit has great blowing distance and I can feel the air blowing from all the way across the room and it also cools off my kitchen as well as my living room. I usually keep it on 77 and it quietly goes low when it reaches that temperature and then turns off and then automatically turns on when it needs to and it doesn't make a loud sound when it turns on it's a very nice gradual sound. I haven't gotten my electric bill yet but I am expecting it to be lower than it was with a single hose unit that I had. When you get the unit shipped make sure to have paid for the $10 charge for them to deliver it into your home as it is 72 lb. To open the box cut off the straps and then open the top and take out the attachments and then lift the Box straight up and it will separate the bottom part and you can lift the whole box above and out of the unit. It caught me by surprise because I was wondering how in the world am I going to lift a 72 lb unit all the way up from a tall box. The units specs are excellent it has 12,000 BTU and SACC of 10,000 which is more energy efficient. I also bought the 4-year Asurion protection plan which gives me great piece of mind. I sleep hot regardless of the season. My options were to buy a huge fan and place it on me at all times during the night with a sheet as a blanket or just suffer through it. It took my bed being soaked with my sweat several summers in a row for me to give up and look into an air conditioner. I didn't want anything super amazing as the room I sleep in is fairly small. I did want a dual hose design since I've heard they're better at removing water from the system but it wasn't a deal breaker if I didn't get that. After much looking I came upon this unit. It has a remote, it works with Alexa, I can control the unit with my smartphone, it has the dual hose system but most importantly it's energy efficient. You see I used to have a hotel grade air conditioner and it ran most of the time due to the room it was in having no air flow. That unit was a champ as it kept that large room chilly all the time. Though it used a lot of power. It added over a hundred dollars to our power bill every month and I just couldn't deal with that again. Now this unit is much better but it only runs when I sleep and I clean the filter on the regular to keep it from using too much power. It hasn't broke my bank yet so that's always a plus. Oh, and did I mention this unit is a beast at cooling? I know I said the room is small but I'd never expect this unit to cool my bedroom in less than a couple of minutes like this unit does. Most of the time I forget to turn it on via my phone and it doesn't really matter. I enter my room, hit the on button and get into bed and within minutes I'm nice and chilly for a good nights sleep. I have very little to complain about with this air conditioner. It checks off a lot of boxes I had for what I wanted and then some. The only thing I can say is that it's a bit noisy. I don't see that as a bad thing cause most units are loud. Actually I don't know if I could sleep without the noise now. But if you have to have silence in order to drift off to dreamland then maybe find something else. The amount of features this unit has at a fairly decent price accompanied with it being energy efficient should be a top contender for most. Highly recommend. Whoops, almost forgot. My unit was missing the adapter that hooks to the plastic hose so to have water drawn away from the unit and into a better place. I contacted Midea for a replacement part and was told they don't carry certain parts and my only option was to send the entire unit back for a replacement. This was well after I had installed the unit. I, like the adult I am, called them stupid and argued their flawed logic. Sending a heavy piece of tech back because they forgot to add a small and almost weightless piece of plastic was asinine. Why put me and the poor delivery people through something so frustrating over something so simple. That conversation went on for too long and got me nowhere. In the end I didn't need the part but I highly suggest anyone buying this to check every part to make sure it's all there cause from what I can tell they don't carry parts that a normal company would.

This review is for the Midea Duo. I bought this because I needed a portable AC for one of the bedrooms in my condo because the central air is inadequate. I especially wanted a smart AC so that I could use it with my Alexa ecosystem. Unfortunately, despite the good looks, quiet operation and good build quality, this thing has some major shortcomings that make it unusable and a complete waste of money. For starters, I received it with one of the tabs used to hold the hose in place on the window slider broken. Therefore, I needed a replacement part but Amazon doesn’t carry parts, so they had to send me a while new unit so that I could return the unit with the broken part. This delayed its use. Amazon was good about it so I don’t have any complaints there. The first major issue I have is with the window slider itself, a part that must be used in order to use the AC. For starters, you’d expect a $600 AC to come with high quality accessories but this part is cheaply made, flimsy and thin with absolutely no insulation properties at all. Furthermore, once assembled the sides are not flat, so you are left with gaps between the flat surfaces of the window and the sliders. They give you foam tape to adhere to the edges but this is inadequate. You’re left with a window insert that not only gets hot, but also lets bugs in and sound/ outside noise. The other issue with the slider is that for some stupid reason, they placed the hole for the exhaust hose very close to one edge. Its so close that when you use the sliding window adapter, it hits the sill and cannot snap into place. You have to build it out on that sure to get it to work. Why wouldn’t they just have centered it!? Furthermore, the hose is huge, probably twice the width of standard units and it’s unwieldy, so as gentle as I was being with this thing, one of the tabs broke (again!) and now it won’t connect properly … I had to glue it on with ABS cement so it doesn’t pull out. Unfortunately, due to the uncommon shape of the hose, you cannot upgrade to something else and you are left trying to modify it. Fine, I took two 1x2” wooden rails and created a box to support the sliders and added styrofoam to insulate it. Unfortunately, the second major problem is that this unit does nothing for the humidity while in AC mode because it reuses the condensation to make it more efficient… but, even though I have this thing keeping the room at 68 degrees, it jacked the humidity up to 84%! So the air is really dense and because of this it’s uncomfortable and useless! Unfortunately because of all the time it took to get this thing situated, Ive missed the return window by several days and now I’m out $600! I highly recommend staying away from this product. I really wanted to love it but instead I loathe it! Pros: good build quality of the AC unit itself, wifi and smart app enabled, quiet, blows a good amount of air. Cons: huge unwieldy exhaust hose, cheaply made and poorly designed hose adapter, cheaply made and poorly designed window sliders.

Having used this AC for around a month now I've been able to experiment will all the features. I'll put a detailed list of my findings below: THE REMOTE: It has an LCD screen that is backlit, however it's only when pushing a button and it turns off rather quickly. The buttons themselves don't have a backlight as they're coated in a green glow in the dark solution instead. I've never seen it glow bright enough to read in a dark room though, so you still need a light to operate the remote. The remote is also the only way to enable the "Comfort Sense" feature (using the remotes thermostat instead of the AC unit itself to prevent it form prematurely turning on/off when it reaches the set temp). The AC will beep when you turn it on, but there's no way to tell if it's actually working or not because the AC has no indicator on it. This is a problem because the remote will show the Comfort Sense icon on indefinitely going forward, but you'll never know if the AC is using it. The best you can do is disable it and reenable it each time you turn on the AC so it will at least beep. The remote is not in sync with the AC, or the apps settings. If you change a setting on one, it will not change the remote. This is annoying because if you adjust the fan on the AC for example, and then use the remote, it will continue to show the old speed unless you cycle though the speeds on the remote and get it where you want it again. This also applies to changing any settings with the app as well. The remote is white. Not that it's a big deal. But the AC is black. So if it matters to you then keep that in mind. THE APP: There's actually two apps you can use with this AC. The Midea Air app and the MSmartLife app. Both are developed by Midea and offer similar functionality. However, there are some minor differences. The Midea Air app seems to have an issue with the "Schedules" feature (allows you to set on/off times). It hasn't worked for any of the scheduled times I set. It also shows the "Outside" and "Inside" temps at the top, but I'm not sure where the temps are coming from. The outside temp seems to be especially off. The MSmartLife app schedules do work though it also shows the humidity along with the outside and inside temps, unlike the Midea Air app. But, the Midea Air app allows you to pick louver positions instead of just starting and stopping it where you want it. Both apps include the same features that the AC and the remotes have on them, with the exception of Comfort Sense. But they also include a "Boost" mode that's not on the remote or the AC. As far as what I can tell, it simply puts the fan at 100% speed and nothing else. When asking Google to turn on the AC, I would often get a response that the AC could not be reached. This is something that happened with both apps. THE AC: The built in hose extends to about 4' in length. The included bracket is sturdy, but wide. If you're using it on a vertical window, keep in mind that the bracket included to allow this does not seal well at all. There will be lots of air leakage. The product pages makes the claim that the unit is 42 dB. But the box says 44 dB. I cannot confirm if it's close to that or not. But what I can say is it would only be that quiet when the inverter is restricting as much power as it can and the fan speed is set to low. When it's running "normally" then it's significantly louder than that. Speaking of the inverter. In my experience, the AC doesn't run at "full power" very long, if at all. I'm not really sure if that's because I got a bad egg or if it's just an engineering issue. The AC seems to cycle between 300-1350 watts. Most of the time it's between 900-950 watts even when I'm trying to get it to run at full power. After it gets close to the set temp it will cycle down and settle at around 300 watts consistently unless it cant keep the temp and needs to cycle back up. There have been times where the AC simply ran at full power and then turned off when it reached the set temp. I'm not sure why it did that as then it would defeat the purpose of having the inverter at that point. I never had to drain the AC when running in cool mode, and no water would come out when I attempted to. However, there's still plenty of water in the tray that can spill when tipping the unit. So keep that in mind. My particular unit would make a kind of loud and annoying chirping sound when running in the lower power modes. It would also make a smacking noise when the louver would hit the bottom of it's swing cycle. After about 3 weeks of use, the unit simply did not turn on one day and I had to return it.
