This product has a known defect from reviewing other reviews. The unit generally works but the "set" feature does not work to automtically control humidity becuase the humidiity meter does not register humidity - it always reads 30% humdiity no matter what the actual humidiity in the room is. This was confirmed with mutiple other humdiity meters. Midea support had me run a variety of tests (running unit in show with hot water to create steam) and the unit still does not reigster. Midea Support had me return through Amazon. Swapped out for replacement unit - same exact issue so I am having to return the replacement unit as well. I will be purchasing from a different brand. Avoid this product.

This dehumidifier pulls a massive amount of water out of the air very quickly, and I am genuinely impressed with its performance. I love everything about the design. It works beautifully as a standalone bucket unit without needing to set up a continuous drain hose or run an internal pump—perfect if you only need it to tackle high humidity during the summer months. It easily brings humidity levels down to 45%–50% without having to run constantly.I’m currently using it in a space of about 700 square feet on a garden-level concrete floor. The moisture problem is completely gone, and the floor stays bone dry—no more standing dampness, mildew, or mold.Why I bought the 50-pint model for a 700 sq. ft. space:I intentionally bought a larger unit than my square footage strictly required so it wouldn't have to work as hard. By sizing up, the unit reaches the target humidity level much faster and cycles off sooner, running less frequently throughout the day. This saves energy, reduces noise, and extends the overall lifespan of the motor compared to running a smaller, lower-capacity unit at maximum effort 24/7.Why the "4,500 sq. ft." rating is deceiving:While the manufacturer advertises coverage up to 4,500 square feet, that rating assumes ideal laboratory conditions—an open, single-room layout with low initial humidity and minimal air leakage. In real-world environments like basements or garden-level rooms with concrete floors, high ground moisture, walls, and poor airflow, a 50-pint capacity is actually best suited for spaces much smaller than 4,500 square feet. Expecting a single unit to handle a damp, closed-off 4,500 square foot basement on its own isn't realistic. Highly recommended for anyone needing serious moisture control!

I've been using this dehumidifier for a little over a week, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I live in Pennsylvania, where summers can be extremely humid, especially after heavy rainstorms. On the first day I turned it on, the humidity in my basement was 74%. I was honestly surprised by how much moisture it pulled out of the air. One of my favorite features is the large water bucket. During the first few days, I had to empty it about twice a day because my basement was so damp. After running the dehumidifier for a little over a week, the humidity has dropped to around 50%, and now I usually only need to empty the bucket once a day. It also supports continuous drainage, but I intentionally used the bucket first because I wanted to see how much moisture it was actually removing. Seeing all that water really opened my eyes to how damp my basement had been. Before buying this unit, I had already started noticing a musty smell in my basement. After running the dehumidifier, the air feels much drier and fresher. Since I live in a 100-year-old house with plenty of wood, controlling humidity is very important. Every time I empty another bucket of water, I'm grateful I decided to buy this dehumidifier. Otherwise, all that moisture would still be trapped inside my basement, potentially causing damage to my home over time. Another feature I really appreciate is the Wi-Fi connectivity. My home has four levels, so I don't want to keep walking down to the basement just to check on the machine. The app lets me monitor the humidity remotely and sends me a notification when the bucket is full, which is incredibly convenient. I chose this unit because Midea is a reputable brand in Asia that's well known for making reliable home appliances, and this dehumidifier has definitely lived up to my expectations. It has made a noticeable difference in my basement, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

In spite of less-than-stellar reviews on Amazon, I did what I thought was due diligence and viewed numerous videos on the rating and recommendations of the Midea Cube 50 Pint unit, and it did quite well. I took the plunge and ordered one, and after lugging it to my basement (it weighs almost 50 pounds), carefully doing the assembly according to the directions, and plugging it in, an error code, Eb, displayed. I unplugged and reassembled the top unit to the bottom, plugged it back in, and got the same error code. I referred back to the manual which directed me to contact customer service. They led me through the same procedures I had done on my own and eventually advised me that I apparently had a bad bucket sensor, and my only option was to return the unit, which I did the next day. Bad sensors are a frequently cited complaint in the bad reviews I had seen, and wished I had taken heed of. I guess this is a fine unit if and when you can get it to work, but the plethora of disappointed customers suggests this product is to be avoided.

I bought the Midea 50-pint Cube dehumidifier at the beginning of last summer, and when it worked, it worked extremely well. It ran great all summer, pulled a lot of moisture out of the air, and did exactly what I needed it to do. During the winter, the humidity in my house was low, so the unit did not run. When spring came around and the humidity started climbing again, the compressor would no longer engage when the humidity exceeded the set point. The fan still ran like it wanted to remove humidity, but it was no longer actually dehumidifying. I did some troubleshooting and checked the wattage, and it was clear the compressor was not kicking on. That was frustrating because the unit was only about a year old and had not been heavily used year-round. For a dehumidifier at this price, I expected better long-term reliability. That said, I am buying the same model again because it really did perform well when it was working. It is also consistently recommended by multiple product review sites, including Wirecutter, and I still think the design and performance are excellent. My recommendation: buy the unit, but absolutely get a good multi-year aftermarket warranty. It works very well, but based on my experience, I would not trust it long-term without extra warranty coverage. Update: bought a new unit has a humidity sensor that was 11% off. Actual was 60%, but the unit read 50%. Exchanged and the new one was good.

I bought the Midea Cube 50 Pint Dehumidifier (for 4,500 sq. ft.) because across several different websites. This was recommended as the best and I chose the bigger unit; because it would mean less changing the water, helping avoid overspill (which is a huge problem with dehumidifiers) and because my unit is only 1,000 sq ft, my understanding was that it wouldn't be on all the time. I was wrong with all but one count. 1. I paid $249.99 for new unit, tell me why I got a used unit instead with a yellow stain and brown color on the seams at the bottom of the bucket. One rubber buffers fell off when unpacking and the tether to the waterstopper is cut half way. I have found the price difference between a new versus used like new to be around $50 to $70 dollars but after receiving my unit, and the prices shot up and now like new versus new is about the same. I was very upset and I was going to immediately return it, but I wanted to see why the previous purchaser returned it. 2. It overheats, if you leave it on high fan for too long. 3. Like with many people, if you start reading through the review comments, it cannot accurately measure the humidity. And what that ends up translating to is that if you have the setting for it to stop when it reaches a certain humility, it never does. Meaning the only reason it will stop is if it's full, which you can program and it did work for me at level 1, 2 and 3. Now when i got to level 4 it got tricky sometimes it will fill all the way to the top per the little window on the side but other times it wouldn't it would go all the way but still above level 3, somewhere inbetween. 4. Whether it's on high or low, the machine is very loud. The difference in sounds is loud and a little less loud. It's definitely not something to be in the same room with for extended periods of time. 5. Energy saving, ha, what a joke! It uses 12kwh per day, in my area the cost is $0.16 per kwh so daily it cost $1.92, monthly this is $57.60. Now compare the other machines the watts are better but considering it can running 24hrs because of the broken sensor there isn't any savings. Even if it only ran for 6hrs daily that would still be $14.40 a month. 6. So this wasn't an issue for me, but I see a lot of people complain about it, and I can see why. The unit is on top of the bucket and the unit is around 40 pounds and technically, the bucket can hold up to 35 pounds of water. Being abled body, I have no problem picking up the unit. Put it on a towel and dumping out the bucket. Then lifting the unit again and putting it back. What was an issue for me is having to change the water 1-2 times a day, why, see #3. 7. The wheels make it easy to move if you have a flat smooth surface, I don't so it wasn't that great for me. I ended up just having to lift the unit and bucket to move it. I wish there was a better alternative but even taking into account durability and the fact it is known to dies right before or right after the 1yr warranty. The alternatives aren't that much better. 2& 3 being common issues and overspilling happening across the board. Unless you have a time machine and purchase a pre 2020s or better yet a late 90s dehumidifier your screwed. Ultimately I decide to return my used unit and get new but smaller unit. And hope when it dies, it within the warranty but I hear that customer service sucks for Midea. Good luck!
