Simple to Install, Quiet and Functions as Advertised

Bought the Midea Cube 50 Pint Dehumidifier to replace an old (4+ years) dehumidifier that had stopped working. The Cube is used in the basement. Unpacking and installing the Cube is simple and straight forward. It was done in about 15 minutes. My setup is: low fan speed, 40% target humidity, continuous drain mode. Based on warnings of Midea's Hygrometer accuracy, I had a TempPro TempAir digital hygrometer next to the Cube to check the Cube's humidity sensor. After 2 days, I found the Cube working as advertised. With low fan speed, it is very quiet. For continuous draining, I attached a garden hose to the Cube with the hose's other end connected to an external pump that also services my HVAC system. Therefore, the weight of the cube is not an issue as I don't need to empty the bucket that sits below the unit. With sturdy handles on both the unit and the bucket, it is easy to empty the bucket if needed. I did not attached the wheels to the bottom of the bucket as the Cube is sitting on top of a pedestal so that gravity can take care of the drainage. The Cube is nicely designed such that the wheels can easily be installed and uninstalled. The Cube's hygrometer seems to be working as it shows the basement humidity at 42% which is within 1 to 2% of the TempPro Hygrometer indoor thermometer reading. Midea should improvement its user manual. For example, it could provide more explanation on the different drainage modes (I had to search the internet to find the difference between "Continuous Drain" and "Bucketless Mode") It should be more clearer and more accurate regarding Midea Smart Home and Google Home integration. The directions in the manual did not work (linking Smart Home from Google Home). I had to manually figure out the solution which is to link Google Home from the Smart Home app. Even with the above, I gave the Cube 5 stars as it was basically a quick installation and the Cube just working as advertised from that point on.

Not Recommended

This dehumidifier has been a problem since day one when it was delivered on its SIDE by an Amazon delivery contractor, which it explicitly states in numerous places on the box to KEEP UPRIGHT with arrows pointing to TOP. Luckily, I noticed this and let is settle upright for several days before using and after reporting to Amazon customer service. Upon opening after a week or so to let the oil settle, I had issues connecting the WiFi app. It consistently drops the signal even though it shows a very strong full bar signal. I also have used the physical button to turn the unit off and on. Sometimes, the unit will not turn off so I have to unplug. This has been a bad experience from the beginning for me. I do not recommend this device. I also am having issues sending back as a return due to the weight. It's extremely heavy and I cannot fit it back in the box to return. I will keep it until I can discard it. A waste of money IMO. It was also frustrating to even try to get a live Amazon agent to explain how I should deal with this entire mess. I'm disappointed all around. I recommend staying away from the Midea Cube.

Made a Big Difference in My Basement

I've been using this dehumidifier for a little over a week, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I live in Pennsylvania, where summers can be extremely humid, especially after heavy rainstorms. On the first day I turned it on, the humidity in my basement was 74%. I was honestly surprised by how much moisture it pulled out of the air. One of my favorite features is the large water bucket. During the first few days, I had to empty it about twice a day because my basement was so damp. After running the dehumidifier for a little over a week, the humidity has dropped to around 50%, and now I usually only need to empty the bucket once a day. It also supports continuous drainage, but I intentionally used the bucket first because I wanted to see how much moisture it was actually removing. Seeing all that water really opened my eyes to how damp my basement had been. Before buying this unit, I had already started noticing a musty smell in my basement. After running the dehumidifier, the air feels much drier and fresher. Since I live in a 100-year-old house with plenty of wood, controlling humidity is very important. Every time I empty another bucket of water, I'm grateful I decided to buy this dehumidifier. Otherwise, all that moisture would still be trapped inside my basement, potentially causing damage to my home over time. Another feature I really appreciate is the Wi-Fi connectivity. My home has four levels, so I don't want to keep walking down to the basement just to check on the machine. The app lets me monitor the humidity remotely and sends me a notification when the bucket is full, which is incredibly convenient. I chose this unit because Midea is a reputable brand in Asia that's well known for making reliable home appliances, and this dehumidifier has definitely lived up to my expectations. It has made a noticeable difference in my basement, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Bone dry floor and zero moisture issues!

This dehumidifier pulls a massive amount of water out of the air very quickly, and I am genuinely impressed with its performance. I love everything about the design. It works beautifully as a standalone bucket unit without needing to set up a continuous drain hose or run an internal pump—perfect if you only need it to tackle high humidity during the summer months. It easily brings humidity levels down to 45%–50% without having to run constantly.I’m currently using it in a space of about 700 square feet on a garden-level concrete floor. The moisture problem is completely gone, and the floor stays bone dry—no more standing dampness, mildew, or mold.Why I bought the 50-pint model for a 700 sq. ft. space:I intentionally bought a larger unit than my square footage strictly required so it wouldn't have to work as hard. By sizing up, the unit reaches the target humidity level much faster and cycles off sooner, running less frequently throughout the day. This saves energy, reduces noise, and extends the overall lifespan of the motor compared to running a smaller, lower-capacity unit at maximum effort 24/7.Why the "4,500 sq. ft." rating is deceiving:While the manufacturer advertises coverage up to 4,500 square feet, that rating assumes ideal laboratory conditions—an open, single-room layout with low initial humidity and minimal air leakage. In real-world environments like basements or garden-level rooms with concrete floors, high ground moisture, walls, and poor airflow, a 50-pint capacity is actually best suited for spaces much smaller than 4,500 square feet. Expecting a single unit to handle a damp, closed-off 4,500 square foot basement on its own isn't realistic. Highly recommended for anyone needing serious moisture control!

Faulty units, used shipped as new, smartapp glitches

Do not purchase this faulty product. My unit (supposedly brand new) arrived in a product box that had clearly been opened before and was slightly dirty — and also missing a screw in its case. More importantly, the humidity sensor arrived broken and will not register above the minimum of 30%. If you search reviews online, you will see this is a frequent issue with this dehumidifier and several individuals have dealt with a series of returns and replacements through Amazon before getting a functional unit. A separate issue has arisen with their smart app, which is glitchy and refused to acknowledge when the bucket has been emptied and reset that sensor to zero. Not only does this interfere with the functionality of knowing how full the bucket is, I found it was also overriding the machine’s own sensor. So, since the water level was impossible to reset successfully via the app, the app was telling the unit to not run the compressor (fan only) because it thought the bucket was full. The only fix to this so far has been to delete the app. Given that two primary functions for this unit — ability to set it to maintain a certain humidity and the ability to manage it via smart app — do not work, and given that Midea is clearly shipping faulty and used units out as brand new, I strongly recommend against purchasing from this company. Midea customer service essentially does not exist for their smaller products and the most I was able to get was a partial refund of $39 from Amazon so I can buy a new sensor and try to install it myself.

The Humity sensor does not work. Everything else is fine.

I moved the machine from the basement, to the main floor, to the up stairs. Each time I let it run for more then 24 hours. Each time the humity gauge never move from 30- 37%. I have to other guages and both reported between 40-70%. This is Ohio July, so the relative humity is not 30-37% anywhere. I returned and got another one with the exact same issue. Contacting Midea Warrenty number, they report this is a typical issue and that I should return the unit. It is disapointing as it worked great in evey other way. Good build, runs quite ( for a dehumifer) and the bucket is HUGE. I rented both units.

Awesome unit that rids the air of unwanted water!

I have a basement room that I transformed into a man cave with a castle motif. Unfortunately, every step of the construction demanded copious amounts of water in and below the floor, walls and ceiling. I tried buckets of damp rid which work - s l o w l y barely moving the humidity needle. While under construction the percentages were in the high 80s!!! In steps the Midea cube. I of course, did my homework. It was one of the highest rated dehumidifiers available. It comes in different sizes and types depending on the size of the space and if you are using it in a basement, living space, etc. They also have a pump model if you lack a sump. I have a sink so emptying the bottom bucket occasionally is fine. It also has a hose where I could run it to a drain if need be. Set up was a snap, blue tooth connectivity was seamless with the app and the three modes (set-point, continuous and max). I can power it off or on at the machine or the app. Same for modes. Even off, it reports the current humidity in the room. It has wheels, you can nest the unit into the bucket when not in use and the app (and a window on the bucket) lets you know how full the bucket is too. On max, I dropped the room from 70% to 35% fairly quickly. My hope is to pull a lot of the moisture I introduced OUT of the walls and floor. I have already noticed that the rate of the humidity returning has slowed as I turn it off the unit until the humidity creeps back up. Excellent so far!
