I have a older home with poor insulation so during a heat wave my home stayed around 80° inside with central ac and a portable ac running I decided it was time to have a change and upgrade my portable. I decided to go with this U shaped unit over a traditional unit because it felt safer and more secure from entry as we have a not so trustworthy neighbor thats moved in the area and causing alot of trouble. I did had some issues installing the unit but it was because I misunderstood the instructions. Completely my fault and after watching a install video realizing my mistake it all went together smoothly. Now this is easily the best purchase I have made for the home! Its super quiet. I didn't realize how loud my portable unit was until I used this! It keeps my room plenty cool and got it down to 64° before I decided to adjust it back to a more comfy temperature of 68°! I love the oscillating flap to throw air up and forward. I really love the app controls for this unit too. Super easy to adjust temp and other setting and you can even set the unit on a schedule or turn on to precool the room from any-wear! I love the idea of also being able to still open the window for fresh air. They give you several extra drain plugs and sealing foam. I am not big on doing reviews, but this is something that has made my life so much better. This unit is the one to buy if you need a window unit for AC. The install is great. Superior design and fit. It is smooth running and QUIET!!! The remote is robust and beautifully designed. This Midea is a replacement unit for a 5 year old GE window unit...that GE unit required so much maintenance and it leaked water all over my old hardwood floors. It sounded like a Mack truck, it was so noisy. I hated that machine. GE sucked. Awful. This Midea is so smooth, quiet and it has my room at a lovely cool temperature during a heat wave in July. Replacing an older window unit was the main reason I bought this one. Installation took a little time because of the weight and getting everything lined up in the window, but the included hardware covered what I needed. I watched a couple installation videos online beforehand since this design was different from the window AC units I had used in the past, and that helped the setup go more smoothly. Once running, the difference in noise was noticeable right away. I can still hear it, but it doesn't have the constant loud cycling sound my previous unit had. The room cools down fairly quickly, and I've mostly kept it around the low 70s during warmer afternoons. One thing I ended up liking quite a bit is the U-shaped design. With my old window AC, I always had to roll the curtains up because they would get pushed around the unit. With this one, the curtains can hang down into the center opening, so the room looks more normal when the AC is installed. I finally decided that I'd had enough of the summer heat, and after careful consideration and talking to a restaurant owner just up the street who has one in his restaurant, I decided to take the plunge, this air conditioner will cool my bedroom down in about 5 minutes, it's very quiet, I can barely hear it running, it's easy on electricity, the one I have averages pulling between 510 watts and 390 watts, something you need to take into consideration if you live in an old home with questionable wiring, they furnish you with 7 extra drain plugs to keep the condensation drained out, in case one of them plugs up with debris, I'm not really familiar with all of the features on this unit, I've got mine set at 70 degrees in auto mode, you have many different options with this unit auto, cool, dry, fan, low medium, and high, it has wifi, which I don't use, you can connect it to Amazon Alexa if you want, so far, I'm totally satisfied with this purchase, the only regret I have is not buying it sooner, no more restless nights lying awake in a house that's too hot for comfort, it's relatively easy to mount in the window, and has good reviews, I highly recommend this brand of air conditioner. ... show more

When I first got the AC unit, I dreaded installation, but it wasn't that bad and the mounting bracket and ac unit installed fine. I got it on sale so the value was great. The unit is being used in the 12x14 room where my home office is, which is about 160 square feet and the unit cools it down quite quickly. The air gets cold very quickly, and the unit runs extremely quiet. The only issue I have is the drain plug that it came with (it comes with about 7 of them so they can be replaced) clogged quite quickly and water stopped draining properly. After a quick search online, I saw that people recommended to take the white part of the drain plug out, and just use the black part, which is what I did. It now has drained properly with no issues. I liked it so much that I went and bought another unit but that time I bought the slightly larger btu unit because it was for my master bedroom which is quite larger that my home office. The remote control it great too since I don't have to get up to change anything, and I believe there is also an app for your phone so you can control it via your smart phone. ... show more

I originally debated getting the 10,000 or 12,000 BTU model, but even with the size I chose, I’m extremely impressed. This AC exceeded my expectations in almost every way. The first thing I noticed was how quiet it is. Even on higher settings, the noise level is surprisingly low, making it perfect for relaxing, watching TV, or sleeping. The airflow is also excellent—it circulates air throughout the room much better than I expected and cools the space quickly. When the unit arrived, I was a little intimidated by the setup process, but installation turned out to be very straightforward. The instructions were easy to follow, and I had it up and running in no time. Another pleasant surprise was the weight. I specifically wanted a lightweight window AC that I could handle without struggling, and this unit delivered. It’s noticeably lighter than many other air conditioners I’ve owned, making installation much easier. After doing a lot of research, I chose Midea because of its reputation for reliability, affordability, and performance, and so far it has lived up to the hype. I read an article that stated "This is the coolest summer for the rest of your life" and decided to upgrade my AC. The previous one was noisy, very expensive to run, and didn't cool as well as it should have. The new AC is so quiet you have to go stand next to it to confirm it is working. It cools beautifully: the house is finally comfortable. I haven't had it long enough to confirm the electric bills are the expected much lower amount. It was easy to put in with just one person; however, DO pay attention to the warning about not touching the grill at the back. It is like a super-sharp cheese grater. Honestly, this is a 5 star unit, but I remove a star for being unable to have it look like a clean install with just materials provided. I dunno if my windows are just difficult, but all the foam and tape and stuff provided is not adequate, and yet there is a generous amount provided and is a great variety of things. On to the unit itself, it's so quiet and efficient. It uses less power than my previous units and does a more effective job at cooling my rooms. The remote control is handy, and I haven't connected the unit to my wifi yet, but I have no doubts that I'll still love this unit. Installing is easy, but to get the window to go into the U I had to slide the unit forward a bit. Not sure if it's my windows, but when the bracket is installed correctly and you slide the unit fully onto it, the window is not going to line up correctly. Thankfully there's some room for adjustment in the design of the bracket. Price is a bit high compared to my warehouse store, but I bought this one for brand and I wanted 8k instead of 10k btu for my room. Be warned that delivery people will not always put these upright on your porch... of the 4 I bought, only 1 was right side up. Two were on their side and one was upside-down. I recommend letting the unit sit right side up for at least 24 hours before operating. The unit is heavy, but me and my adult child had no issue lifting it into place. ... show more
