I bought this because I started looking at the ads for it. I thought the concept sounded really interesting and plausible. Theoretically, there should be no reason why you couldn't cook in a microwave. It just heats using a different mechanism than the oven does. Instead of direct heat, you get wet heat. You cook through oscillating water molecules. I know conceptually steaming food is also healthier than frying. You can trap more nutrients in. So, I was all in. I bought a set and I am glad I did. Honestly though, I probably could have gotten away with just getting the medium deep dish or shallow dish. Most recipes require one or the other. I have been lately obsessed with the AnyDay Shashuka recipe. It is on their website. I have made it several times now. Several times for myself and several times for others. Now, it does take some experimentation. I think that's true with any cooking technique. To really perfect use of it, you need to see how it performs in your particular microwave. Each microwave has different settings and their calibrations can wildly vary. I learned that I need to cook a bit longer to achieve the right visual consistency that I am looking for. After a couple of practice attempts, I got the recipe down to a spot where I really cook to what I like. What the AnyDay bowl does though is help achieve consistency, it traps the steam in and has a clever valve to release it when needed. Because gas fills a space evenly, you get really nice even cooking as long as you chopped up everything equally. That's just standard cooking norms. You want to have homogeneity in anything you cook so everything is even. Then, you cook in layers. Long story short, you can have a lot of fun in the microwave. It is easy to clean up. It cooks very quickly because you are using steam to cook (aka boiling gas). Clean up is simple and its easy to transport. You eat out of the bowl you cooked in. I give this a 5 star!

This is wonderful cookware for max 3 people. Adding the Extra Large Dish and a set of small dishes sets you up to do about anything you want. However, if your family is large than 3 people, you would need multiples of the Extra Large Dish. Good to also get a set of the mitts. It's a big investment for sure, but I am so glad I bought these. Using them almost daily. My husband and I are elderly, and I have handicaps that weaken me. Cooking this way doesn't just do a stellar job, it greatly cuts down on my work load, including not having to clean my cooktop very often. Since the bowls stay hot for a long time, serving in them is lovely. If you want, you can also store leftovers with them. We wash the lids by hand just to preserve the silicone rings, and the bowls wash beautifully in the dishwasher. Of course, this cooking method has its limitations. It doesn't brown or roast, but neither do any other cooktop cookware choices. What it does is give you excellent control over the results of your dish. So far, everything we have cooked has been outstanding, and I am learning more every time. We did 2 russet potatoes recently, which yielded our favorite results for 'baked' potatoes. I usually rub them with olive oil, pierce, and salt, and bake in the oven for an hour. We don't like the foil wrap method results. In the microwave, we got potatoes somewhere in between these two methods, nicely done centers and skin that was easy to cut and pleasant to eat. I will pretty much always cook my vegetables in these dishes from now on. I'm already being creative with the site recipes for ingredients, quantities, and cook times. I have some salmon thawing for my first try with fish. The Anyday website has many recipes for all kinds of foods, and you can tailor each to the number of servings and wattage of your microwave, all with extra tips for success plus ideas for variations. Recipes that require lowering the wattage are clearly marked. I recently got myself a used copy of Microwave Gourmet, by Barbara Kafka, and am delighted with it as well. Her instructions are very thorough. Since this is an older book, all are for 500-600 watt microwaves. This book will take you a level up from the more beginner recipes on the Anyday website (not to say there aren't many good more 'gourmet' recipes there as well). The 100 page section, 'Dictionary of Foods and Techniques' alone is worth buying the book.
