  • Unbelievable
Size: 32 GB RAM, 2 TB
This is the most awesome computer I have ever owned. I keep my previous Dell All-in-One as a backup but after looking at the screen of this Microsoft Surface, the Dell looks dark and muddy - I can't even look at it anymore. The monitor resolution is absolutely brilliant! And the screen is huge but super wafer thin. Spending almost 5K is a pretty hefty price tag but it's worth every penny - trust me - you won't be disappointed. I've owned and built desktop computers for as long as I can remember and I've never seen anything like this. I've seen state-of-the-art Apple computers and they don't even come close. What else can I say? It's just astounding! ... show more

  • Although it is very expensive this is a great machine.
Size: 32 GB RAM, 2 TB
I like the all in one features of this computer. It is fast and works well. I do have a problem with the camera however. It automatically adjusts itself and I cannot get a true-color picture. I had to buy another camera to get a better picture for this computer.

  • Buy a brand new one
Size: 32 GB RAM, 2 TB
My wife is a graphic designer, so I bought her a used one, as the new ones are quite expensive. It started malfunctioning after about 3 weeks, so we had to return it.

  • Lovely screen crippled by inexcusably dumbed-down technical specs.
Size: 32 GB RAM, 2 TB
Once you're acclimated to this pretty device, it is hard not to get annoyed about what Microsoft intentionally designed it not to be. It is tempting to think of the Surface Studio as a desktop PC but the prospective buyer should be aware that it really isn't. It is essentially a Surface tablet with a huge screen on a hinge --a splendid screen and a nicely designed hinge!-- moored to your desktop. Although it has more ports than a Surface Pro tablet and a 28 inch screen, Microsoft does not let you add additional RAM or connect, say, another Surface tablet to make proxy use of the excellent monitor. In fact, when I called customer support to ask how to connect my Surface Pro tablet to the Surface Studio, I was informed "This isn't a monitor. It's a Surface product." Okay?! So let's be real clear about the dilemmas fostered by this device: The screen is spectacular and highly addictive with excellent touch screen capacity, which ultimately serves as a relentless tease that it would make a lovely monitor if only it could be used as such, at least with a faster Surface tablet product (since both products make use of the same touch-screen technology) if not a third-party product running Windows. But we must not forget the aforementioned Microsoft customer service department "insight": this is a Surface product! It can't really be used as a monitor. Of course, you can wire an external monitor to the Surface Studio. But you cannot connect an HDMI or USB/VGA cable from another computer --including another better equipped Surface product-- to use the Studio screen as a monitor. Like nearly any other Surface Product, you are expected to just pitch out this large, beautiful, quite expensive kit should you require something faster or with more RAM etc. If you've got Windows 10 Pro, you can connect a faster PC via Remote Desktop so long as both machines are on the same WiFi network, but you cannot do so if you'd like to, say, stream from an LTE device (like a Surface Pro X) to the Studio via some other sort of wireless connection (unless you are using that device merely as a wi-fi hotspot). As reported in most professional reviews, the internal hardware was somewhat underwhelming even at the time of release. You may not notice this if you're not editing video media or doing something else requiring more than average computation power. But the intended customer is someone working in graphics media. This is what's known as dysfunctional design. Encumbering a device in the manner Microsoft has chosen is ridiculous, particularly as such restrictions appear intentionally engineered. If you're fine with paying some $4,000-$5,000 to get a new Surface Studio every 3 years or so when you need more computing power or when this machine fails (Surface products are not especially durable), maybe you won't be disappointed by this device and I'm confident Microsoft wants and loves more customers just like you. If such an expenditure strikes you as despicably wasteful, particularly as you are expected to essentially throw a beautiful, perfectly functional would-be monitor in the trash-can when the other internals become obsolete, you should look elsewhere. ... show more
