This doggie door is designed to go through a WALL, not a door! Range looks like about 3.5 - 6.5 inches, and is simple to install, just an inside piece and an outside piece, with a full flange on each. This is not some flimsy pet door like almost every other one I've seen. This is constructed from 1/16 inch steel, and very sturdy, though it did arrive with one corner bent in on one of the flanges (easily bent back like new). The lockout door is that same steel, with even heavier brackets it slides into, and a spring lock that appears to be made from heavy aluminum so it can't rust (even though it's on the inside). Nothing is getting through there. I ordered a medium, and it's big enough for most dogs to squeeze through, but you'd probably want a large for anything bigger than a small pit bull. My medium sized cat was able to push it open and use it. It has stiff magnetic strips that hold each side closed, which work very well, and a door sweep type material going up the sides as a weather seal. Now the way it is set up, only one side of this will seal at a time, unless you pull the flap out and let it fall, which you may want to do if it's really cold out. When the pet pushes through, the last flap it goes through will fall against the brushes and seal pretty well. It's not Winter so I can't say how it is, but I'll update as needed when it gets cold.

Our old dog door was plastic and only had a single flap. This is definitely an upgrade! Quite the improvement! The dimensions are perfect for fitting between studs and the front/back of the door design allows for varying wall/door thicknesses to be penetrated and fitted. The security latch is solid, metal. The removable panel is metal. There is nothing cheap or thoughtless about this product, all dog-lovers will be pleased to know! All the good features are built in. Magnets hold the flaps in place to prevent breezes. The flaps are replacable when you EVENTUALLY need to replace them, but I don't see that happenening for a long time. This is the third dog door I've installed in my life and it is the best as far as build, quality, and thoughtfulness. Even the packaging and instruction materials were high quality. Excellent value, dog lovers! Blue checkmark from me!

Large upgraded ceiling dog door for wall is double flap, steel frame and telescoping tunnel, dog door and cat door for dogs up to 100 pounds. I have two female boxers and one of them is built like a male and she is 98 pounds and she fits through this doorway now if she was bigger than that, she would not be able to fit, but this is a great investment, especially for those who like to be very active and want to be outdoors at all times, and you don’t wanna stand out there in the fence yard with them at all times they can let themselves out when you are busy doing your work. I live in the country so this was easier for me so they can get out into the fence yard. That’s a good value nice quality it can be mounted on various walls. It has two different sizes either large or extra large.
