So initially as soon as I received this I put it in the pile to return to Amazon. But then after we figured out the electrical connections were very pleased. Here's the situation: our home hot water heater kicked the bucket for the last time, and I want to take this opportunity to upgrade a lot about our system (like increase copper pipe diameter, add multiple water filters, recirculating pump, and add a tankless + tank combination). So we are going to be without hot water for showers for two or so weeks. I initially bought a 110V system which has worked to remove the chill (heating up to about 32C) from the water at low flows, but if we turned up the water flow or the temp setting then we'd inevitably trip a 20Amp circuit breaker. That's why I bought this 220V system, I thought I could use it with the unused 30Amp 220V dryer outlet. However, that outlet was Red, Black, and White (neutral), not grounded. I removed the outlet (after shutting off power), saw that we had ground wire connected to the metal electrical box, and then did the following: Changed to a US 220V 3 prong grounded outlet as pictured, using Ground, Red, and Black. Added the matching 3 prong plug to the wiring of this water heater. Then I ran an10/3 (10 gauge, 3 wire) extension cord usually used for RVs to water heater, et voila, it works! It gets as hot as we need the flow is much stronger than with the prior 110V unit, certainly enough for showers. Note that I did turn down the water flow with the little adjustment screw by the hot water connection to guard against excessive electrical usage.

Update 12/2024: only worked about 30 minutes on my 20 amps slow trip breaker, after doing dishes then running hot water for a bath several minutes to get the pipes warm it tripped the breaker while In the shower; quite a surprise. Luckily it was a couple months ago when it wasn't cold out. Now, with water pipe temperature down in the 70s, it still delivers water too hot for bathing without adding cold. Also, had to tighten plug screws after the unit would not come on. It had an error code that popped on, but wouldn't stay on, so I couldn't read it for the sellers troubleshooting, but they quickly noted a probably plug issue to point me in the correct direction and sure enough, a good tightening got it working right away. About to install the 30 amp replacement, but I'll be keeping this one handy in case anything goes wrong with the new one. Original review: The 12 gauge wire was a clue. Only have it set at 45c, 115f, but it does manage a 30 degree rise on my 85 degree water, which is plenty for me, in the summer. I don't think my water gets below 70 and expect it will suffice till I split the dryer 30 amp circuit to get a bigger one, but for now I don't have to take quite so cold showers, the whites get clean in the washer and I don't have to worry about that leaking tank anymore. It does slow down the pressure 20 percent or so and if it's run even lower can get hotter. 4 stars till it lasts a year, but easy enough to install - you just have to push the power button to change the temperature which took 20 minutes to figure out with the not so English instructions

We added this water heater to a sink in one of our outbuildings. During the winter, the water temperature coming out of the sink was measured at 42 degrees fahrenheit.Once the heat was added, it got up to 85 degrees, which while not hot, is a vast improvement! For the price, I would definitely buy it again! The instructions were clear and installation was easy.

Install was easy enough, but this thing just doesn't get hot like I wanted. It will get warm at best & that's with the flow restricted severely. Instant "hot" water heater running 220v you would assume could get hot to the touch, not this little guy. If you want to get warm water, it will be fine, but if you want it hot like I do, this thing won't get the job done.

This would be 5 stars, however this unit is wired to UK spec. This means you received a UK receptical and wires are colored different than US. I simply bypassed this and hardwired it. But for a normal person this will appear as unable to be installed. (For anyone who is comfortable Blue and Brown are line and Green is ground) Aside from this, I am VERY impressed at first. Where I live have high water pressure (around 130 psi because of a pressure regulator delete) Because of this, cheap fixtures literally explode in my house. This did not. Immediately went and checked temperature, received hot water as fast as normal so no additional delay to heat water, and it was significantly hotter than I was expecting. Also install is very easy for anyone with some basic trades knowledge. So simple that someone who knows NOTHING could probably still manage with some help from youtube. I set reminders to come update this review in 45 days, 6 months, and 1 year so everyone can have insight of any complications or loss of efficiency over time.
