  • Hygger stands behind their 1 year warranty
Pattern Name: 1 - Gravel
the product worked fine until it stopped working 8 months later, way after the Amazon return period ended. however, i reached out to hygger by email and they stood behind their product and replaced it for me at no charge. I appreciate that and for that I recommend them

  • Tried for Pond, did not work
Pattern Name: 1 - Gravel
This was a trial product for my outdoor pond. I have muck buildup on the pond bottom, no gravel. My pond bottom is deeper than the outside surface and the suction was not strong enough to lift muck off the pond bottom. May work great as designed/sold for aquarium, so can't fault the product there. The clips to hold the tubes to the drainage bucket are brittle and don't flex easy enough to not clamp the tube. ... show more

  • Easily siphon nasty tank water
Pattern Name: 1 - Gravel
This Aquarium Gravel Cleaner has made tank maintenance so much easier and faster. The air pressing button starts the siphon in seconds, so there’s no priming or disgusting mouth siphoning involved. Suction is strong enough to pull out debris and waste from the gravel without disturbing the entire substrate. I really like the built in water flow controller clamp, which lets me manage the speed and avoid any mess. The hose length is generous and works well for larger tanks. Everything feels durable and well designed for regular use. If you want water changes to be quicker and cleaner, this kit is absolutely worth it. ... show more

  • Suction gun doesn't work after 1 use
Pattern Name: 1 - Gravel
I've purchased two of these in total, about a month apart. The first one worked great the first time I used it. The second one worked great the first time I used it as well. Today I tried to use the newest one (the second one) again, because it's a new tank and I'm doing multiple water changes as my fish are new too and are getting quarantine meds. But it won't work. It just doesn't suck up water. The trigger gun suction is the whole beauty of this item and it doesn't work after just one use. I'm returning it. But I still need to do a water change so I went and grabbed the first one (the older one) and tried to use that one, and same exact deal. Zero suction. That trigger gun just has no ooomph now. You can feel the difference when you're pulling the trigger. It's crazy that it just stopped working after one time for both of them! They could not have worked more perfectly the first time I used each of them. So to recap, I have two of these that only worked one time each. One is outside the 30-day return period by about 8 days and one is inside of it and is being returned. I will contact Hygger about the one that's outside of the return period. It's too expensive of an item for a one-time use only. I have no idea how I just randomly happened to get two bad ones or if people are just not updating their original reviews, but buyer beware. They don't last like they should. Hygger is a good name, or at least I thought it was supposed to be good, but this is not a quality product like I would have expected from them. ... show more

  • Average Performance
Pattern Name: 1 - Gravel
I bought of these for my small aquariums to save me the trouble of hooking up my Python Gravel Vac. For the record the Python is phenomenal in every way. Anyway this vac was ok in the beginning but after 15 to 20 uses it because less effective and now both are totally useless. They don't prime anymore and it's an act of Congress to get it to actually siphon anymore. In general I haven't been thrilled with Hygger stuff and these just added to the list of reasons why. At this point I doubt I'd buy anything else from the brand. ... show more

  • Makes Water Changes Fast and Much Easier
Pattern Name: 1 - Gravel
The hygger gravel cleaner has made routine tank maintenance way less of a hassle. The air-pressing button works surprisingly well—it primes the siphon quickly without having to manually start suction, which saves time and keeps things cleaner. The suction power is strong enough to pull out debris from the gravel while leaving most of the substrate in place. It does a good job removing waste and leftover food during water changes. The hose is long enough to comfortably reach a bucket, and the flow control clamp is helpful for adjusting the water speed so it doesn’t drain too fast. The build quality feels sturdy for regular home use, and assembly was simple right out of the box. It’s especially useful for small to medium tanks where you want efficient cleaning without dragging out complicated equipment. Overall, this is a practical, affordable tool that makes water changes quicker and less messy. Definitely a helpful addition to regular aquarium maintenance. ... show more

  • Easy to use and effective
Pattern Name: 1 - Gravel
I bought this for daily waste removal from the bottom of an aquatic turtle tank, and it works really well for that purpose. Our tank is too big to use this for full water exchanges in a timely manner (we use an electric submersible pump for that), but this is perfect for quickly removing solid waste and a little dirty water to a waste bucket. I first tried a manual syphon (from another brand) and it worked well to remove waste, but the bulb pump took a lot of effort to start. I then tried an electric vacuum (from the same brand as this) that filters and returns the water to the tank, and it was less trouble to start but the filtration wasn't great. This was a good middle ground. It takes a few trigger pulls to start the suction since the tank is fairly deep, but it's much easier than the bulb and doesn't require electricity, and it extracts waste cleanly. The clip that attaches to the waste bucket isn't wonderful and occasionally pops free, so I have to keep an eye on that, but otherwise, this has been one of the handier cleaning tools I've bought for tank maintenance. ... show more

  • Broke after one use. Don't recommend for Fluval Betta Gravel (or any fine gravel).
Pattern Name: 1 - Gravel
The product is easy to assemble and use, and has perfectly good suction. I got it because I was struggling to get a normal siphon going. The first time I used it was fantastic, and I just had to practice putting a kink in the hose to increase and decrease the suction. Unfortunately, the second use is when things went wrong. I have betta tanks with fine grain gravel from Fluval designed specifically to be gentle on betta fins. No matter how careful I was, little bits of that gravel would get sucked through the siphon into my bucket. (Not much, maybe a tablespoon.) The second time I tried to use the Hygger siphon, the trigger would depress but no water would get sucked into the siphon. Drying the apparatus out didn't work, and it can't be taken apart to check if there's any stuck gravel interfering with the function. I returned the first siphon and got a second, and the same thing happened. I resorted to scouring YouTube for How-To videos on normal low tech siphons, and finally found a technique that worked for me. Moral of the story- low tech has been the standard for a reason, and I'll be sticking with it from now on. If you still want to try this product, my recommendation is to only use it on larger gravel or river stones, but nothing fine grained. I wish I had sand substrate to test it on, but I'm not confident that wouldn't cause issues too. ... show more
