So for starters, i bought this because I was finding it incredibly difficult to find an aftermarket unit to install a pioneer CarPlay radio into my 2005 Honda Accord. This was the best option I could find for what I was looking for. Had a friend who installs radios and works on sound systems install it and it went poorly for the sole reason that he didn’t follow the first step, which was something to the effect of turning off the unit and retrieving radio codes before putting the metra unit in. It was an 8 month journey trying to diagnose what went wrong with it, but in short, my AC stopped functioning and the vents blew only HEAT. They blew heat even when the unit was off. It was passive engine air I think. I took it to 3 different places that checked all obvious solutions like the Freon level, AC compressor functionality, and fuses. Until I took it to a Honda dealership, no one could fix it. For the purpose of an aftermarket radio this was 4 stars. The only issue I had was that you had to cut out part of the housing frame for the radio/AC unit and once you do that there’s essentially no going back. Tips: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS VERY CLEARLY! Had help from a mechanic buddy installing this and it was a pain. Had to cut and remove plastic just to try to get it to fit, even had to file away to get the head unit to go into the slot, and it doesn't fit completely flush at the seam where the hazard lights button is. The antenna connection for am/fm is so short I had to reach under the unit after installation and just poke around until I got it into the hole. I have tiny hands so I was able to do it but my friend who's hands are standard sized would never have been able to get at it. Now that it's in it works fine but if I had to do it again I'd shop around for something else. ... show more

Easy install and temp controls work beautifully on this thing. Also did the steering wheel retention. Worked out beautifully as well. Note- I’ve seen bad reviews on this about these things not working or lighting up on temp control. My advice is if you can’t figure it out, have a professional do it. Half of these reviews are way wrong! This product and ease of installation are a breeze! 2007 Accord EX. Cleaned it up quite a bit! Honestly i did have my doubts on this due to other dumb reviews. DO NOT HAVE BEST BUY INSTALL IT! They are not pro’s and they don’t know what the hell they are doing. I installed it my self and everything works perfect! A/C and heater both work and gives the vehicle such a good look. Only reason i have the product 4 starts instead of 5 was due to the fact you can’t reuse the original storage compartment. It fits but just not enough room to open. Got this because my stereo quit working and I wanted to install a new stereo without it looking ugly. Everything works as expected, but the buttons aren’t backlit, so you’ll have to know where they are when you drive at night. The buttons do stick a little because they’re pretty squishy, but it’s not a huge issue. While I miss the more tactile feel of the original dash, this one is a good enough replacement. It’s a bit overpriced for me, but again it’s worth having a cleaner look if you are putting in a new stereo anyway. Tl;dr Works well, can’t see buttons at night. ... show more

PROS: Looks awesome, way better than the metra single din thats been discontinued. Buttons have a nice spring to them and i like that they're rubberized. Screen lights up very nicely, i can see the small icons very clearly even with the sun shining right at it. With the single din unit I couldn't tell if the ac was on or not because the led was so faint especially with sun shining at it. I can clearly see AC displayed in the top left corner with this unit. Also I'm now able to install a double din with navigation and a backup camera. CONS: I tried for a very long time to get the buttons to light up, i was unsuccessful, I tried both the illumination wire and dimmer and nothing worked. At night i cant see the buttons at all but ive memorized where they all are so i guess no big deal. Def bummed i couldnt get them working though. If anyone knows maybe what i did wrong please let me know. Setting the mode to top and bottom fans is a little wonky. It doesnt really come out the top but then after a minute or two it will come blasting out the top, i was hitting buttons when it was programming itself which may have messed it up, its possible i need to reprogram it and maybe that wont happen. ... show more

No I've only had this kit installed for about a day it seems to be working quite okay. After giving it much thought I decided to install myself which with the help of the instructions was relatively easy the only thing I do not really like about the install is there is a slight Gap where my Pioneer Double-Din head unit fits and the climate controls leaving and ever so slight Gap. It fits in the car were relatively well and the plastic almost matches. Not a perfect match but almost. Absolutely love the fact that you can change the color of the climate control screen so I couldn't match it to my red head unit lights and dash lights. The biggest downfall of this kid is for a $200 conversion kit I would kind of expect illuminated buttons for AC controls or at least some type of glow in the dark buttons(like a TV remote) but that was the very least of the problems I had with this kit ... show more

Don't buy this unit. I bought this and had Best Buy install and 6 months later the unit would not communicate with the vehicle. Heat and air conditioning controls along with mode between defrost, vents and floor did not work. Stuck in hot and dash vents only. The tech support by Metra was good but they said had to get back to the seller for warranty and exchange. Seller said they only warranty it for 30 days.
