I put this on a 4x4 post bird feeder that stands about 7 feet tall. It's been there for a couple of months now and it has kept the squirrels off the feeder as advertised. The only issue has nothing to do with the effectiveness of the baffle but rather the location where it is installed. Because of the limitations in the size of our flower bed where the bird feeder is, the bird bath we have sits within 10 feet of the feeder. This allows the braver squirrels to leap from the bird bath, over the baffle and onto the feeder! Installing the baffle is fairly straightforward as long as you can use a screwdriver and a wrench. It comes with 4 metal side pieces with all of the necessary nuts and bolts. Each corner has a hole near the top and one near the bottom for attaching the two pieces together. It takes a bit of dexterity to hold everything together while tightening nuts and bolts, but it's not too difficult. You have to partially assemble the 4 pieces, then attach them to the post with tabs at the top of each of the four sides. Once attached to the post you finish connecting the corners and that's it. I only used two of the four tabs when attaching it to the post so that it rocks back and forth. Otherwise, I think the squirrels would eventually figure to how to climb around it if it was immobile. Leaving it loose makes it nearly impossible for them to get any kind of grip. Also, there is about a 1inch gap between the 4x4 post and each tab, but this is by design and allows the baffle to also be installed onto a 6x6 post. Since it's painted metal, I'm confident it will last a long time. My only complaint is that the nuts have been coming loose lately. This is most likely a result of me installing it loosely to the post, and is a simple fix. Otherwise, we're very happy with this baffle and would recommend it.

I recently installed the this and it has made a huge difference in protecting my bird feeder. The first thing I noticed was the solid metal construction. It feels very sturdy and well-made, not flimsy like some plastic options. The powder-coated finish gives it a clean look while also helping it hold up against rain and sun without rusting or fading. Installation was surprisingly simple thanks to the wrap-around design. I didn’t have to remove the post or feeder—just snapped it around the 4x4 post and secured it in place. It took less than 15 minutes, which was a nice bonus. Most importantly, it actually works. Before installing it, squirrels were constantly climbing up and emptying my feeder. Now, they can’t get past the smooth, angled surface. Metal baffles like this are especially effective because they’re durable and hard for squirrels to grip or chew through. I also appreciate the size and coverage. The wide diameter creates a strong barrier, so even determined squirrels can’t find a way around it. Since installing it, I’ve noticed more birds visiting again, which was the whole goal. Overall, this is a reliable, durable, and highly effective solution if you’re dealing with squirrels on a 4x4 post. It’s well worth the investment for anyone serious about protecting their bird feeders.

Purchased two of these in the white collar. They look really nice and white instead of the black and green that you see everywhere. Anyway, they definitely keep the squirrels and raccoons from climbing up bird houses and peanut feeders as well as bird feeders. They’re very easy to secure, and you only need a few tools to do it. They look exactly like the photo shows them. Beautiful white and when it snows they blend right in now. All we need is snow please snow 😂 Seriously, they are nice quality, a good size and fit and extremely durable. We’ve had them now for a few years and they’re holding up nicely. They’re easy to hose down if they get dirty, but believe it or not, they really don’t get dirty because the rain keeps them clean and the snow does too when it falls from the sky, which hopefully happens again soon. Great value for the money and yes, I love snow. Highly recommend these.
