If you're working alone flip step 2, and step 1. Then put the end pieces on so you'll have a stable structure to work on without help. Slats seem flimsy for me 300lbs but I think these will work for my girls.

I'm split between the other reviews here because the bed overall is a great proposition. The metal is solid, and the slats don't allow a mattress, even one without a boxspring or made of memory foam, to sag through. The sound dampening pads between the joints and on the bottom of the bed's feet do a great job in keeping the squeaking to basically zero, even in the face of vigorous bed activity. The issue really comes from the assembly/storage process. The instruction manual is not well done and I often found myself using the wrong screws in the wrong place, which I think is where the "missing tools and screws" issue in other reviews comes from. It's really a question of "are you ready to screw and unscrew a couple times because the instructions are unclear?". Overall, I don't see this as a huge issue since I'm not expecting to take this apart often, but I understand the frustration of those who think there are parts missing, which would be totally avoidable if the company made a little more effort in the manual. ... show more
