Description

The KC18DEX4 is a versatile 4-piece 18V MultiVolt Cordless Combo Kit, designed for a wide variety of sawing, drilling, fastening, and lighting applications. This kit is an essential toolset for contractors and end-users, providing them with the necessary tools to get the job done right. The KC18DEX4 includes a 18V 1/2" Drill Driver (DS18DEX), a 18V 1/4" Compact Impact Driver (WH18DEX), a 18V Reciprocating Saw (CR18DBQ4) and a 18V 250 Lumen LED Flashlight (UB18DEQ4). These tools are accompanied by (2) 18V 2.0 Ah Lithium-ion compact batteries with charge indicators (377797M), an 18V Fast Charger (UC18YFSL), a wood cutting blade, a 2 Phillips but and carry bag for convenient storage and transportation. Metabo is the name that Hitachi uses now for their cordless tools. Koki is still the owner, and I have had many hitachi and metabo tools over the years. As a professional framing carpenter, the Hitachi NR83 was one of the best tools I've ever used. Their tools are professional grade generally, but not always the heaviest duty out there. This 18v cordless set is pro-grade gear. The bag has water-resistant zippers and is quite capacious. Each of the tools is well made and offers professional-duty features. For example, the drill has a metal chuck. The reciprocating saw has orbital action and a heavy duty blade clamp. The flashlight is really impressive as well, with a very wide cone of illumination. I used these tools for a side-project I'm working on putting a fence up around some planters. The impact driver drove a couple hundred square-drive screws into pressure treated lumber. I used the same battery to cut some screws and to cut some boards. I had plenty of power left in the battery at the end of 4 hours. Honestly, the battery capacity is low. That's likely in order to make the tools as lightweight as possible, which they are. I'm happy to report adapting other brands to fit is a workable option. I tried 20v Dewalt batteries with an adapter and found them to perform very well while giving me a 7ah capacity for use with the reciprocating saw over the 2ah OEM. For the money, this is a very nice set. It includes the most popular cordless tools. The drill is quite compact and torquey. The impact is powerful but not too jumpy, also very light. The reciprocating saw is bulky, very massive feeling. That's desirable in order to provide a smooth cutting experience. I would buy more of these tools or recommend as an alternative to other brands. All of my cordless tools are getting old and starting to fail so I thought I would go with a brand I had never used before. Really put them to work and I am totally amazed at what an upgrade these tools are over what I had. Very ergonomic and fit well in my hand. Light weight, compact and have more power than what I am used to. The quality and durability is top drawer. Battery life is very good. A solid build quality tool set. The fit and finish are smooth and solid. The safety trigger controls are bi-stable and so you do not need to keep pressing the safety to engage the tool, much easier for one hand and off hand operation. Many thoughtful features, such as metal threaded inserts molded into the body where things like hanging clips attach for a solid threaded attachment than be be screwed and unscrewed a number of times without loss of holding power. The reciprocating saw has a feature where you can engage a vibratory action and it will cut faster, albeit in a more rough cut manner or smooth cut allowing for cuts in metal and finer-finish woods. The carry bag has an excellent and durable zipper and is a heavy weight woven fabric. The bag is sized to easily contain all of the tools, batteries and charger along with some of your own add-in items. The drill is powerful and has a smooth but powerfully engaging keyless chuck. The saw has a rotating collar for holding blades and they can be reversed 180 degrees, with an adjustable shoe. ... show more
