  • Great for cat that hates covered boxes, but one problem with order
Update: Still love this box, it is holding up nicely. Also a tip -if your cat pushes open the doors and kicks litter all over the place, you can solve this by taking a hairband and keeping it around the door knobs, this forces kitties to enter and exit through the DOOR and not make a mess. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. I have two cats, and one of them has always refused to use covered boxes. I picked this cabinet because it is bigger than most, and has a nice large opening on the side unlike many others. I also bought Precious Cat litter since it is supposed to be about as dust free as you can get and I wanted to make the box more inviting, at least initially. Worked like a charm, both cats took to box nicely. You will still want to put our a floor mat (I bought a pretty sort of "welcome mat" to put in front of the door) but this looks WAY better than looking at a litter box. You will still have to do some sweeping up of litter, but having a cabinet like this is a big improvement. Only issue we had is that the drawer did not come with the right pieces, we had two pieces designed for the same side, which means we couldn't install the drawer at all. However, we decided to just leave the drawer off, so that it's more spacious inside for our cat who hates covered boxes. We worry if we install the drawer it might feel too crowded for her anyway, so we will just deal with it. But I still have to knock off one star because of this issue, you should get what you pay for without having to call and complain. Also, one thing that helped with my cats transitioning to the new cat box is I have a system where I always have kept their food on top of a table that is directly over their litter box. I figure since they will never forget where there food is, they will also never be confused about where the litter box is. This system has worked GREAT. You can't keep food next to a cat box, or many cats won't want to eat the food (can you blame them?) but food and water above the box works great. So when this came, I just moved their food on top of the cabinet, and we didn't have a single accident. Glad I bought this. Just watch the pricing on this for awhile, it is pricey even with a good sale. ... show more

  • Stylish cover for eyesore of a litterbox and litter mess.
Style: Pet Studio
I just found a lovely kitty, and as all kitties do, they'll need a place to do their business. Initially I put the litter box in the living room in a cage so my lab won't mess around with the litter box (I never realized dogs are so into kitty litter box). Works for a while until I got tired of cleaning the litter debris and the eyesore of a litter box in my well appointed living room. After comparing several options, I decided on this model because it's the one that mostly will blend well with the other furniture. After waiting impatiently for the item to arrive, finally one day I found a large flat box in front of my place after work and eagerly disassembled the box and all the parts arrived complete. Wooohoooo!!!. Now come the hard part. Assembling all the parts according to the instruction which surprisingly simple to follow. Took me about 30 minutes to completely assemble the parts, some elbow grease, (a power tool will come handy, since there's some nut screwing needed, actually the box assembling is almost IKEA easy), and voila! This thing is actually pleasing to the eye. This box to my surprise can contain my humongous Mega Litter box with side litter splash protector for Petco (other best thing ever invented for over zealous digger of a cat) with out a problem. The drawer on top can store all the cat's accoutrements (brush, toys, litter scoop). Cat love it! The only snafu I have after, is the litter debris still overflow from the opening off the litter box, and this is resolved by putting a mat between the box's opening and the litter box so it will catch the debris/litter trail. The side opening of the box is only on the right side and not adjustable to go the left. (The other box that I'm considering has that option of switching the opening side, but the box only opens on the top and does not have the drawer, which is a drawback). That's a minor problem, my cat doesn't care. My other Hyacinth Bucket's moment is, the box comes only in reddish mahogany color, my furniture mostly are dark walnut. I guess this is going to be my next DIY project to stain the box dark walnut, to match with my living room scheme. But at this point, my cat's happy, I'm happy, and it's a surprisingly well made and sturdy box! And you will have another extra flat surface to put whatever knickknacks or a Royal Doulton figurine. ... show more

  • Great item- even better costumer service!! A++ customer service!!!
Style: Pet Studio
I can't say this item arrived to me perfectly- there were problems with certain parts installed incorrectly. I wrote the company asking to send me the correct parts and they wrote me right back to tell me they sent me those parts, overnight, free of charge and if I could send them photos of the parts that were incorrectly installed, they would refund me back some of my money OR send me a new unit entirely...When I sent them pictures they ended up sending me a whole new unit and I didn't even have to send the old one back! You don't come by great, honest, costumer service like that these days. What a pleasure to do business with this type of company! I should have purchased this cabinet years ago! I have two 16 year old cats and they use the litter a lot so I like that the doors open in front, making it easy to attend to the litter daily. There is enough room inside to wedge a scooper and an air fresher container, as well as the litter box. One reviewer mentioned that if the cat misses the box- it ruins the inside of the cabinet- this is true BUT the cabinet is meant for a litter box and the inside is not seen nor do you want it to be seen. I put doggie diaper pads under the litter box to absorb spills. Since my cats are old, I have to use a low step box but for younger cats I would recommend a high side litter box for this unit. Width is the issue with the box you choose- height is less of a problem and you can always leave the drawer out of the unit if you want more height room. This unit blends right into the space it is in and no one can believe it houses a litter box. I use a table runner on top to hide the door on the side- I leave it up when I'm home alone and I put it down when I have guest over. The cats can still use the litter box when the runner is down since it's only a piece of fabric in the way of the entrance. ... show more
