My wife and I (along with some help from our 9yo son) assembled this product over two days in about 14-15hrs. The instructions are mostly visual like Ikea instructions, but it's still easy to make a mistake if you don't triple check the pictures. One tiny dot (a grommet) on the drawing can be missed and then you're spending time dissembling a major support beam because it's on backwards. Overall, we are very happy with the results, and the engineering is very well designed e.g. the camming mechanism for the louvers work very well. When the louvers are fully closed, the pergola's roof is waterproof under steady rain without a lot of wind. The beams act as gutters and downspouts, and are cleverly designed. Also, a full-sized adult male can also do pull ups on the Pergola without any creaking, bending or wobbling.

Pergola arrived quickly. The boxes were beat up from shipping, but none of the pergola components had much damage at all, so it wasn't a big deal. Overall, all the pieces were in new condition. Installation was intense. My husband did 90% of the installation on his own. (Disclaimer: He is a 31 yr old, 6’5” mechanical engineer.) His family came over to speed up the process for the last bit. The pieces fit together well. Instructions were average to okay. Had to rely on understanding images. Anchoring was the trickiest part since it was a first time anchoring something into pavers, but it went well. Pergola has been installed for a couple weeks. So far it feels sturdy, looks stunning, and provides a great amount of shade morning to late afternoon. (Photos were taken when the sun would need to be blocked by the curtains.) We get some strong winds in our area and the pergola hasn’t budged. The curtains and nets are nice. We really like it so far. I think the price and the value line up. 👍

12x20 White Pergola - My wife loves the finished product. I was surprised at how well the parts had been made and how easily they fit together. There was one part that had holes that would not line up so I had to take some time to ream them out a bit so the screws would go in correctly. I've read on other reviews of troubles getting the louvers to go in. The louvers on this pergola snap in very easily. I took about 30 minutes to get them all snapped in. They were all in perfect shape coming out of the box. One leg had a small ding in one of the corners. I received 7 of the 8 boxes shipped within a few days. I had to wait a couple more days for the last box. It was critical as it had the legs in it. I spent the days waiting for it putting what I could together. All the parts were in the boxes as listed in the manual but one, the glue. I'm not sure what kind of glue it would have been. I used 100 percent silicone on all the pieces indicated in the manual to receive "glue". They are joints in the roof gutters. Anywhere there was a joint that had the potential to leak water I filled with silicone (white). Final advice to anyone doing this project. Go through the manual thoroughly and write down which box each part is located in. Really pay attention to the sticker labels you see on the parts. The legs are not all the same! They have different screw hole depending on where they go. The curtains and screens are very simple. On mine there were either 11 or 10 rings to hang them with. The curtains come zipped together. Unzip them before you hang them. The curtains with 10 rings will go on the front and back. The 11 ring curtains will go on the side and wrap around the corner to either the front or back. 6 rings on one side and 5 on the other. The tie straps will give you an idea where they go. Overall this is a really good product. I have to hand it to china, they make a very good kit. We had a really heavy rain the day after I finished. No leaks from the roof at all. The louvers work flawlessly. Oh, don't forget to remove the part identification stickers as you assemble it. They're a bear to get off after they bake in the sun. Oh, don't use the anchors they give you in the kit. They're junk. Buy some drop in anchors and stainless still bolts.
