Updated: return process was easy. Replacement arrived next day and UPS picked up old one next day and brought their own label to put on box. Replacement puzzle worked perfectly. The song segments are just the right length - brief enough for the short attention spans but get through the verse once. The volume is adequate and not too loud. This puzzle uses the small red peg knows that require a toddler to use or practice their pincer grasp. The puzzle is thick and sturdy. I like the on/off switch. All M&D puzzles now use a high quality sticker on top so younger toddlers should be monitored and redirected when trying to mouth the pieces so as not to ruin the picture on the puzzle piece. Does not work, even in bright light. Product arrived quickly. No dents or scratches. Immediately ran out to drug store to buy brand new batteries. Switch on back turned to "on" and double checked batteries in correct orientation. I have tried under several bright lights in the house. Nothing. Hoping the company will reach out to replace. Meanwhile I'll call Amazon. Will update review to report response. ... show more

    • Not what I expected.
Style: Old MacDonald
The media could not be loaded. The puzzle is fine, just doesn't work how I expected. It sings parts of the song when you REMOVE the corresponding piece. It also plays music if you just wave your finger over the sensors. If you put a piece in the right place, it does nothing to reward you.

    • Nice peg puzzle board but sound function glitches

I was really excited about this. I have always loved puzzles or so I’m told. I was excited to share this love with my little one. The board itself is good quality. It wood which is nice. And it’s fairly thick so it hasn’t broken after a month of use where somehow he seems to break other things easily. The pieces fit nicely into their coordinating spot. The pictures are good quality making it clear what they are. So why did I rate this so low? I’m not sure if I misunderstood when I purchased it but the sounds are triggered by movement over them. So even if it’s the wrong piece, if it blocks it sensor without going in, it makes the sound of what should fit in the hole. Thus if trying to find the right spot, you block the sensor of a different animal, it makes it sound of that different animal. So when he is trying to find the right spot for the horse, he may hear a duck quack. If not long enough has passed for the duck noise to stop and he finds the correct spot for the horse, it won’t make the horse sound. He only hears the correct animal about a third of the time when he finds the right spot. Also, it only works in very very bright light typically. Given it is winter it doesn’t work most the day unless I have it close to a lamp. I live in an oldish home so there is not overhead lighting in the living room. When the sun is shining into the window, it works. However, when the out door light starts to diminish about 2 o’clock, the board will start randomly going off if all pieces are not in their spots. It may sound off in bright light if the dog walks over it. If the sounds were triggered, another way, I would love this board. ... show more
