Consumer beware you cannot return a wheelchair after you order it even if it is not open. I recently had a foot surgery and I could not have any weight bearing for 6 weeks. I accidentally bought two wheelchairs but this one was definitely the best choice. The wheels were extremely easy to maneuver and my home. It was very, very comfortable actually when I had transferred into my couch. A lot of my company would sit in my wheelchair because it was so comfortable. It is well made and durable for the price. It is designed to be a transport chair so it does not have arm propelling features on it. It is just someone pushing behind you or I use some ski poles. It is really a great chair. This chair was just what I needed. My 95 year-old mother still gets along well with a cane but doesn't have a lot of stamina or speed, as you would guess. She reluctantly gave this chair a try for us and it is working out great! Took about 5 minutes to assemble and was good to go. It is light weight and easy to fold. Fits easily in the trunk or back of our van. It's like a bag-chair with wheels. It's plenty sturdy and safe. Maneuvers very well. I'm not sure it would be great for everyday use, but for occasional outings, it is perfect. The only minor complaint I have is that the brakes sometimes stick and rub on the wheels. But I just have to bend over and lift them to provide the clearance needed. I don't think you can beat this chair for the price. ... show more

purchased about a 1.5yrs ago for mom to help her when we go places that requires lots of walking..she does ok walking on her own but sometimes its too much for her & needs to stop and catch her breath. The chair was easy to put together, folds up easily and is lightweight which makes it nice for putting it in the car or carrying it up/down steps. I find it to be sturdy. We have used it indoors at places like the mall, hospital, parking garages, baseball stadium, airport, sidewalk pavement etc. Haven't used it on any rough surfaces though. I purchased a cushion seat for it which makes if more comfortable during longer uses. additionally you can easily attach a wheelchair bag to hang on it for storage of items like a purse/pocket book, a laptop, water bottle, a oxygen tank etc. Overall, a good product at this price point and comfortable. ... show more

Transport chairs are a lot lighter than wheelchairs. They fold up and are easier to put in and out of your vehicle. The only thing I didn't like about this model is that it only has brakes on the handles and no brake levers down by the tires. The other chair I had, came with both sets of brakes so the person in the chair or the person pushing the chair could set the brakes. If you are going to have just the one set of brakes than the ones on the handles would be the best model. ... show more

We did not need a full sized wheelchair. I don’t have room in my small car, even in the trunk, anyway. We just needed something for transporting to and from medical appointments. My husband cannot walk long distances. I am 70 years old, there was no assembly required, I read the instructions on how to operate and they were easy to understand. The chair is for my husband. This will be used a few times a month, not every day. It is well made. Light enough for me to get in and out of my car by myself. My husband weighs 175 pounds and it is more than ample in seat size and comfortable for him. Just make sure you read the instructions to familiarize yourself with all the functions and of course do not allow the patient to get up out of the chair without the brakes fully engaged. But that would be wise with any transport chair. Very reasonably priced and suited our needs perfectly. We have used this chair about 6 times with no issues. So far, pleased with the durability.     • Need bigger hands to use the brakes

Nice transport chair with a sturdy frame and bigger wheels for a smooth ride. Folding is quick and it is not that heavy to toss into the back of the SUV. Our last chair, all the wheels were the same size and felt flimsy compared to this new chair. When you measure for the chair, realize that the handles are the widest point. This adds to the comfort of the chair not digging into the rider's back but also means your knuckles might feel the wall/door frame 1st. The adjustable foot rests are awesome and easy to pick the size. Could be better comments: The brake handles are a bit over sized though. If you buy medium gloves, you might find your hands strain to be on the handles and your fingers be in the brake levers. Compare to the brake handles in the pictures for Medline's wheel chair or walking assist strollers, those handles look more like brakes you find on a bike that will fit more sizes of hands. There is also a "drag" feel in the wheels when pushing it. When we turn it over and spin the wheels, 2 spin freely and 2 only make a few rotations before stopping on their own. The wheels also aren't true and when you spin them you can see a slight wobble as they move around. We do feel a slight pull to the left which is easy to compensate for. Also finding that the wheels don't always stay on the ground when going over uneven surfaces. Few times one of the front wheels looses contact with the ground and spins bumping into the person's foot. (like a shopping cart wheel might spin) Might try adjusting the middle pivot bars. Other transport chairs we have don't have this problem over the same surfaces. Around the house we keep the foot rests off but use them when going out. The rest is just a flat surface so it depends on your shoe grip to keep your feet in place. Other chairs have a strap or notch for your heel to rest on so you can relax and not have to keep your feet there. Not a deal breaker for the chair!! Bought a red one for my Mother. When we went to use it the locking mechanism didn't work. My Dad who's a mechanic said the cables weren't long enough to adjust. Contacted customer service and they had a new chair on our doorstep the next morning. New chair worked great. Excellent customer service!! Much lighter than a wheelchair.
