I can’t say enough about how clear the sound is with this stethoscope. I’ve struggled with several other brands none of which could ever compare to this one. When I’m checking my daughters heart and lungs there’s no room for error. She’s very medically complex with both heart and lung issues so it’s super important I hear everything as clearly as possible and never felt I could get quality sound from the other 5-6 kinds I’ve tried. They really did a good just with the whole acoustic setup; there’s not a sound/problem that wouldn’t be heard immediately. It has also shown to be great for checking ng tube placement by listening for air in the lower abdomen area. I found myself having to press rather hard into my daughter’s stomach to barely be able to hear the air and pressing hard on my fragile bone toddler is never ideal. Sounds like a wind tunnel when I use this stethoscope. Let’s not forget it’s also amazingly crafted and gorgeous. The tubing cleans really easy which is awesome since it’s white. One swipe of a rag with some cleaner and it comes up brand new. 10/10 highly recommend ... show more

The media could not be loaded. While buying my first stethoscope, I had no idea what I should do. There are so many types and brands of stethoscopes that I wanted to write about my experience to help out anybody else who is purchasing their first stethoscope. I bought both the Littman Classic III and this MDF stethoscope to compare which one was better. The Littman was obviously the name brand of stethoscopes while MDF was highly rated and much more budget friendly. I used both of them back-to-back daily for multiple patient tests (i.e., lung/heart/bowel sounds and blood pressure). I could tell NO difference in sound quality for either of them. The only thing I would mention is that the Littman was somewhat better at picking up patient sounds on patients who were overweight/obese. However, I was doing all my nursing tests with patients who were healthy and had no problems body-wise, so this was not a factor of importance to me. The Littman feels more sturdy because it is made out of all metal, which the MDF is not; however, I personally preferred the lightweightness of the MDF stethoscope as I could listen for longer than with the Littman stethoscope because of less ear pain. All my nursing professors and clinical advisors have told me that they would personally not recommend buying an expensive stethoscope as a nursing student as a) Littman's get lost a lot and you will never find it again since most stethoscopes are black and not engraved or b) you have no idea what specialty you will be going into, and you should really buying a specialized stethoscope in that case rather than just a Littman Classic. I personally decided to keep the MDF stethoscope. I would also highly recommend it to nurses or medical professionals just starting out with their education/career. ... show more

Tube has Plastic feeling, medium to short length, regular noise cancelation. Medium sound. Kinda flexible, good for slim to average patients. Hard to use on heavy patients. Because sounds get muffled, cant peak sound over clothes. But makes the job. Cant recoment for cardio or heart auscultation other than frecuency and intensity. Light weight. Doesnt look cheap. My brother is a nursing student and wanted a better stethoscope than the one that came with his student kit. After researching for quite a bit of time, this stethoscope was recommended as a cheaper alternative to the $100+ options. As I am somewhat poor, I went with this option... He loves it! I’m a phlebotomist so I do BPs everyday, didn’t want to spend a ton of money on one but of course I wanted good quality/ clear hearing. I can say that this does just that! Of course clearer sounds = more expensive - but I’ve had no trouble hearing the beats at all with this! Comes with the couple different covers and I love it! Def budget friendly.     • Big learning curve for me, but I got used to it

My previous stethoscope broke so I got this one as a replacement. Right away I noticed it was much quieter compared to what I was used to. A few times I couldn't hear anything at all during my assessments. I really wanted to return it but the time passed, so I just practiced with it more. Now I'm used to it and can auscultate with mostly no problems. It's not bad for the money and it's pretty easy to clean.
