I am pleased to say that I’ve been wearing one of these on each knee every day for the past three years and they are still keeping me going. I am 6’-2” tall and weigh 297lbs and I have had surgeries on both knees for meniscus tears, ACL tears, broken bone/cartilage removal (loose bodies), and arthritis. I could not function or do my job without wearing these everyday. One Velcro strap is losing its hold, but I wrap it with electrical tape to keep it in place. I've been wearing this brace for about 3 months now, and am very satisfied. Yes, it's a little pricey but it is very sturdy and does the job. I feel like I got good value for my money. It fits very snugly. That means I don't wear it all day, it gets hot and sweaty underneath and I have to take it off. So I use it when I go out to do yardwork, or go for a walk or hiking, etc. I take it off when I'm just around the house. Take the metal stays out, throw it in the laundry with other clothes, then air-dry it and it is good to go. I like that it has multiple straps on the top and the bottom. I feel that it securely locks to my leg above and below the knee. The first one I got was too snug, I had to return it and get the next larger size. That one also feels snug, but I feel that snug-ivity gives me the support I need. The instructions are laughable. It is fairly self-evident how to adjust the straps, but if you try to follow the instructions, it is like they were written in reverse. So just chuck those instructions. But the rest of the brace is high quality, if you want secure support then this is the brace for you. ... show more

I sprained my knee a few months ago so the inner side of the knee and the tendon beneath the kneecap would hurt when i tried to bend down or carried too much weight while walking. It still pains me a little now and i was starting a new job in construction so i bought this hoping it would help. I had bought a knee brace before without hinges and it didn't help at all and actually made the tendon under the kneecap hurt more when bending so i decided to get this because of the metal hinges and extra straps. It removed most of the pain from the inner side of the knee and i could bend further down without the other tendon hurting, if i bent too low it would hurt though. Only one time did the hinge dig into my calf and that was when i was using it on the treadmill but it wasn't unbearable. I find that on one side the pocket where the hinge is in is maybe 1/8th of and inch too long and would cause that problem when the bottom edge of the brace rolled up slightly but wearing longer socks or pulling it down fixed this problem. I never had this problem when walking or bending only running. Also the box it came with said it's only supposed to be used for 2-4 hours. I've used it for 8-10 hours and it still works but it will stretch a lot more because of that. It might provide slightly less protection but still worth using and better than the other brace. If you sit down and have your knee bent at or past 90 degrees for a few hours it will start to pinch in the back. Overall it has done the job for the past month. It's not a full metal or high end brace for athletes so you can still get injured while using it if you try doing stuff that puts a lot of pressure on the knee. ... show more

Reviewed: October 14, 2024. Thos will be our 4th or 5th purchase of these McDavid hinged type knee brace supports. I started using these when my knee cap popped out of place, and over to the side. It could happen if I was simply just sitting there. These offer fantastic support. The hinges allow me to have a great range without hampering me on most of what I want to do. They adjust great without cutting off my circulation. For the most part, they are very easy to slip on, and then adjust their tightness. Each one of these with constant 24 hour use last me about 8 months. I have an alert that let's me know when it drops down in price so I can save about $15- 20+ over normal price. Multiple people in our house wear these do to various things. In my opinion, if you are prone to knee issues, this is the brace/support to have on hand at all times. If you injure your knee, you'll end up buying a cheaper quality, less effective brace at the drug store of you don't have this one. I I've used other brands, and their build quality, design, or range of motion just don't match up to McDavid, for this specific type. ... show more

This is a very sturdy brace and does the job well. The only thing that I dislike about it is it does run small. I'm going to order another one only one size up, as it is very uncomfortable after a while because of the tightness. But it holds everything in place like it is suppose to.     • Shouldn't measure at the knee

I needed this as I dislocated my knee, needed something to stabilize a shaky knee. It arrived very quickly. When I ordered I followed directions and measured at the knee but they should change it to measure at the thigh. It was so tight at the thigh I didn't even strap it and it still cut off circulation. The quality is excellent and stabilized my knee but had to return because it was so tight I felt clicking in my thigh. I really should have ordered the larger size but following the measuring directions it put me in the smaller size. I ended up buying another one that had measuring 5" above the knee. Would definitely buy another one if I could be fit correctly. ... show more
