Description

Our 70231 Hitch Mount Truck Bed Extender effectively extends your truck bed for carrying longer payloads. Adjustable length and width allows for many different applications including: Ladders, Racks, Canoes, Kayaks, Long Pipes, Lumber and more. Constructed from heavy duty steel with reflective tape on the front and sides for increased visibility and safety. The side arms can be folded down to create supports for a portable work area and the 4 quick release clevis pins allow for quick assembly and disassembly. This product is designed to fit 2-Inch receivers and has a load capacity of 300 pounds. Length: 53-1/2-Inches from center of the 1/2-Inch hitch pin hole to the end of extension. Adjustable width from 28-1/4-Inches to 48-3/4-Inches, adjustable height from 4-Inches to 10-Inches. Hitch pin sold separately.

I have a fourteen foot long sea kayak that I love to paddle, but it is a bit long for convenient conveyance. I've been using a Rack-n-Roll trailer, which is great, but that truck/trailer combo is long and doesn't work well in some tight little access areas that aren't formal boat ramps. Chose this rather than an over the cab design. I'm 73. I realized an over the cab rack was going to be difficult for me to install, and I wasn't sure I could lift and remove lumber, ladders, and such. Very satisfied with this choice. Light, easy to assemble, easy to store.

Goes together easily. Sounds like a trashcan being dragged down the road, but works great! I bolted it up instead of using the quick release pins that it comes with, that put the shut up on it! Stores relatively flat to the wall when not being used. I’ve only used the vertical setup so far. But would definitely recommend it! Very quick to put on and take off. Just pull your ball sleeve out and slide this stand into your receiver hole… done! ... show more

The item arrived today in great condition with not so much as a scratch, it was very well packaged and all parts were present. Assembly was easy with the provided instructions. I opted for the vertical orientation so that it would work in conjunction with roof bars on my Tacoma, but it would be a quick 5-minute job to change it to the longer horizontal configuration. It does rattle a bit at the hitch and where the upper "T" attaches to the vertical bar with a clevis pin. The pin makes height adjustment and disassembly easy but I may replace the pin with a bolt to minimize rattling. I also ordered an anti-rattle clip to prevent movement at the hitch. I plan to use this extender to carry a long extension ladder and the occasional long lumber pieces so I am pleased to find an affordable way to make my truck more useful.
