The Max and Lily Bunk Bed, Twin over Full is a well made wooden bed. All of the pieces were there. The instructions are explicit. It took some time to put together but my husband commented on the quality of the pieces and the sturdiness of this bed. The pecan color is lovely. We purchased the Max and Lily 3 drawer dresser to add to the set. The bed is child friendly and perfect for when our grandchildren visit. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful, sturdy, recommend different order of assembly

A friend and I assembled the Max and Lily double bunk and two triple bunks, all of which are identical in their part numbers and assembly process. The double bunk was top quality and easy to assemble, but the triples, although clearly the same in their parts and assembly, were not nearly the same quality, so beware the newer version of the double bunk may not be as high quality as the one I received. The directions are easy to follow if you pay close attention to detail. However, we assembled them in a different order so that we weren't trying to lift a completed bed into the air while fitting the legs onto the metal rods that connect it to the lower bunk. Instead, we assembled the top bunk in its place, on top of the lower bunk. We started by assembling all of the headboards/footboards. Each bunk is slightly different, so be sure to keep the pairs together. Then we connected the bottom bunk head and foot boards with the 2 long boards that hold the slats. We pushed the bolts in all the way to help hold up the long boards, then pulled the bolts out one at a time to screw them into the nut, using an impact driver. We fully tightened every bolt at each step. We stopped there, skipped some pages, and inserted the 5" metal rods into the tops of the legs, and put the top bunk's head and foot boards on those metal rods, on top of the bottom bunk. Then we attached both back guard rails at the same time by first hammering the dowels into the head/footboards with a rubber mallet and then guiding the holes in the ends of the boards onto the dowels sticking out. Then we attached the boards that hold up the slats, again pushing in all of the bolts to help hold it in place while we removed one at a time to screw the bolt into the nut. Then we attached the steel bar on the top bunk. Then the slats. Then the front guard rails. And finally the ladder. The double bunk took us 3.5 hours because we took our time to fully understand the directions and to sort all of the nuts and bolts into different bowls. I highly recommend using an impact driver--you can see in the pictures how tight we got the bolts. The beds are sturdy and beautiful. I bought 6' foam pipe covers and cut them in half lengthwise and duct taped them to the underside of the steel bar to keep the children from bumping their heads. I paid more for the Max and Lily bunk mattresses and glad I did--they are high quality and a perfect fit. Can't wait for my grandkids to come visit!

Very sturdy and great quality!

I bought this bed back in 2020 and used it as a bunk bed for my two kids for about 4 years. We're now in September of 2026, and it has held up really well and is still going strong! We now use it as two separate beds, and both are still sturdy and work great. I also bought the side rail separately from this company when the kids were younger, which gave us extra peace of mind. Worked very well with the bunk bed. This bed is great for kids and even works well for my now teenager. We've even had two adults and two kids sit on this bed during family movies nights, without any problems. Both top and bottom bunks can easily hold the weight of two adults and two kids. Really happy with the quality and how well it has held up over the years. Definitely a great purchase, so I felt like I needed to leave a review after using it for so many years!

This is definitely a good quality set, a little rickety once together, but it’ll do the job. We were looking for something for our 3 year old to have until she’s about 12 or so and this is definitely that. It doesn’t seem like something that will live forever. If you have a couple rowdy boys, you may need something sturdier. For our little girl, it will suffice. The paint job is a bit weak. Hard to see in the photos, but it’s a bit streaky. It seems like it’s just primer. But again, it’ll do. This did take my husband and I about 2 hours to put together. Mind you, he enjoys doing that kind of stuff and he is very organized and also has power tools. We set out everything first, then he pulled out all the tools he would need, then started putting it together. There were definitely parts that are easier with two people. So if you are not very organized, only have one person working on it, and no power tools, I can see how it could take up to 5-6 hours. I also don’t like the stickers on them that number everything for better organization. I do like that it made it easier to put together, but the stickers are difficult to remove and leave a mark where they were. We decided to leave them on. Overall, you get what you pay for. A set we saw in the future store had a beautiful paint job and was not rickety, but it was double the price. We feel this bed will do for what we wanted.

Best Beds

There is nothing but positive to be said about these beds. From the beginning, we could tell they were high quality. They were incredibly easy to assemble with great instructions. They were built for years of use with extra long, strong bolts and extra support that we haven’t seen in beds that were much more expensive. Unlike some of the beds we considered, the finish is all white - with no exposed silver bolts taking away from the looks. The wood is solid and both beds include a metal bar to to help stabilize. After weeks of grand children rough-housing we expected we would have to go back and tighten some bolts or that the bed might have some shifting, but there hasn’t been a single shift or wiggle in the beds.

Highly recommend-update

Added photos of the finished area. It came out perfect. Great product, highly recommend. Definitely worth the higher price. At our lake house I cut a closet in half to accommodate more sleeping. These bunkbeds fit perfectly into the new space. They are well made & very sturdy. We did L-bracket them to the beams for safety. There were slight flaws in the wood but a Magic Eraser & a white touch up pen worked great. It took two of us 5 hours to assemble. A few suggestions: Lay all the pieces out in numerical order Confirm all the pieces, parts & screws are included before you begin Use power tools Tighten up the screws & bolts multiple times. When it is totally assembled do it once last time. Follow the directions exactly, we had no problems. We bought Ikea 5 1/8” mattresses Vannareid pocket spring . They are very comfortable. There were no missing parts, everything went together perfectly. I’ll post another photo when it is finished.

The bunk bed arrived earlier than expected which worked out great. It is in excellent condition...no damage, scratches, blemishes, dents, etc. The instructions and all parts and screws were included. The bed frame is solid wood and very sturdy which is perfect for my 3yr and 8yr old nephews. Labeling of the parts made assembling the bed much easier and took approximately 1-1/2 hrs to complete. Most bunk beds I viewed had 12" safety guardrails and suggested a 5" or 6" mattress for the top bed. The safety guardrails on this bed are 14" so I opted to purchase 8" mattresses for both the top and bottom. Based on the quality of this bunk bed, I would recommend it and feel it is an excellent value for the money.

Poor quality; arrived with damage

Edited: With no response on the review from Amazon, I reached out to the company directly per the Amazon website. They were initially responsive until they couldn’t find our order number despite the proof of purchase and said to work with Amazon directly. The options for remediation include contacting the Max and Lily website directly—which we already did. I sent an email back asking for escalation, and they have not responded unlike the first set of emails that were seemingly very responsive. I am awaiting communication and any reasonable solution to a product that completely under delivered. To add, I have never left a review like this, but I was super frustrated with the quality and now the lack of actual customer service. Original: Frustrated. We bought this as a gift from Santa, which is why we had to set it up with the damage, but there are several significant cosmetic damage spots-one on the front rail in full view. There is a crack in the headboard wood, and a lot of the paint is not done well— inconsistent, transparent in a lot of places on the bed. We are really excited for the bed. It took a while to set up but that is not the reason for our review-it was the damage and quality of painting. Will not purchase again.
