  • Very good for the price
Size: 18X56
I am very fond of the Maven C series binoculars, and I own several of them. There is a wow factor that this series has that is very appealing. Color rendition, is fantastic. Sharpness at focus is very good, although this larger C4 with it's 18x magnification, is not quite as sharp, as say my C1 10x42. This makes sense, since higher magnification, will bring out the shortcomings of any glass more readily. The one downside, as is the case with most of the C series, is the short depth of field at focus. This means that you will have to focus more often, as you move from object to object. Even with a large tree, some branches will clearly be out of focus, while others are in focus. The C2 compacts also have this issue, but to a much lesser extent. Field flatness is very good, and eye relief is also very good. Much like another reviewer stated, I plan on using this binocular on a tripod, instead of my spotting scope at low power, when low power is the preferred option. I have been frustrated in obtaining replicates of quick release plates for my tripod, but I discovered that by taking off the quick release plate, I could simply rest the binocular on the flat plate underneath, and that actually worked out very well. You do have to hold onto the binocular, but just to ensure that it doesn't slip off the tripod, but I found that very easy to accomplish. Two potential concerns, depending upon your requirements - one, the diopter adjustment is a little tricky, and two, the IPD range, is not very good for those with narrow set eyes. The only way that I could reach collimation with both eyes, was to cut off the objective lens cover from the binocular body. The straps holding the objective lens covers, were preventing me from obtaining the required setting for collimation. Now for me, this isn't a big deal, because I don't plan on using these except on a tripod, so losing the covers, is less of a concern for me, because I will be relatively stationary while using the binoculars. But if you plan on taking these out into the field using a harness, then you might have a problem, if you have narrow set eyes. ... show more

  • Great for the money
Size: 15X56
Awesome binos for the money. Don’t expect it to compete with Swarovski or the maven B series but it definitely gets the job done. Ultimately decided to return them and go with the Maven b5. I don’t believe you can find a better set of 15x56 for your money than these. I love the aluminum focus knob. They definitely feel quality in the hand. If your currently not running top tier glass than you will probably love these. ... show more

  • YOU WILL SEE MORE!
Size: 15X56
These Maven binos are amazing, hands down the best value in optics. The color and light transmission is far superior to other brands in the price range and even rival swaros and zeiss. Excellent edge to edge clarity and minimal light dispersion. I can literally see so much more with these binos compared to the Sigs, Leupold, and Vortex binos I had previously. Seriously excellent glass, I started with the 12x C.3 and just purchased a pair of 18x C.4, I barely ever use my $1700 spotting scope now because of how much better the color transmission is. These binos are are in a league of their own. ... show more
