I've used this to catch roughly 6 roosters so far and it held up well with not tears in the netting or pole bending. I tried using the foot catch at one point but the chicken's foot just slipped right out. I prefer the net because I feel there is less risk of hurting the animal during the catch process. I'll find another use for the hook I'm sure.

Love this! ended up getting one for my work rig (animal control) and this has been great for chickens and critters that like to hide in the bushes just out of reach. It takes a little practice to get the hang of it, but super easy once you do. I haven't used the net yet.

While most of my chickens tend to be friendly enough I can just come and pick one up, there's always those few that are flighty and won't settle down long enough to grab. In the past, I've used a variety of methods, and settled on an old fishing net, but even that wasn't perfect because the hoop of it was just big enough it that some birds could dodge out, resulting in some Benny Hill level hilarity as I repeatedly tried to scoop the birds in the net. Enter this kit. I've used a leg hook on my goats for years, so why it never occurred to me to see if there was one for poultry, I have no idea. This thing's fabulous! It's easy to use, and reduces stress and the chance of injury to the bird (and to the chicken keeper...let's be honest). The net is nice too, because the hoop is much smaller than a regular net for fishing, and the netting is much finer, almost more a mesh, so there's no chance of a bird getting truly tangled up in it. Do yourself a favor, and get one of these kits. It will save you time and effort, especially if you're trying to recover a chicken that's flown the coop, is injured, or is just too flighty to easily corral.

We have over 100 chickens and they are fast. If one is injured or sick, it's important to be able to catch them safely without stressing them out more than necessary. This tool makes the job much easier. Decent size net (says for small, up to 4#s) allows you to keep them confined until you can get a hold of them. Hook is sturdy, as is the telescoping handle. We have a homemade hook we use for the roos, but it takes some work as it flexes easily, making it difficult to maintain the chicken once caught - this one is stable and holds it's shape well. I like how it folds down into a compact size. The net or hook attachment easily screw into the handle and takes seconds to attach. The only improvement I would suggest is the mechanism to extend the net is difficult to maneuver and can easily pinch fingers.

We use this net to catch our hard to get chickens. The net is wide enough for covering chickens. The pole collapses to small position for storage. The pole seems well made and durable. The pole can be hung for storage or put away in a drawer.

These work great. My neighbors roosters sometimes come into my property and I have to catch them. This makes it so much easier. The handle extends to be longer or shorter. The net is a good size for a fully grown chicken or chicks. The net is thin so not sure if this will hold up well after prolonged use.

I was expecting a cheap little net with a plastic stick. I got way better! This is a fantastic piece of chicken tool. The handle is thick, strong, made with metal. The hoop for catching chicks is quite big, bends down and can pack real well. And the larger piece hooks nicely. Both pieces screw into the handle. This would be so useful for the chickens in the coop when it is time for bed.

My bantams have been trying to roost in the trees at night instead of the coop. This net is excellent for catching them! It's way too cold out for them to be exposed all night. I'm so grateful that I came across this product!!
