Description

''This isn''t just any cookery book. It is Mastering the Art of French Cooking, first published in 1961, and it''s a book that is a statement, not of culinary intent, but of aspiration, a commitment to a certain sort of good life, a certain sort of world-view; a votive object implying taste and appetite and a little je ne sais quoi. Julia Child was like Amelia Earhart, or Eleanor Roosevelt: she was a hero who''d gone out there and made a difference. Her books are a triumph, and also a trophy.'' AA GILL, The Times This is the classic guide to French cooking, with over 1,000 clear, authentic and delicious recipes for everything from Boeuf Bourguignon to the perfect omelette. Bon appetit! • simply incredible
Format: Hardcover
This cookbook is most definitely the best cookbook/technique book I have ever had the pleasure of using. I bought it as a Valentine's day gift to my husband who also enjoys cooking. We have had a ball in the kitchen learning how to make fluffy omelettes, silky sauces and succulent meat dishes. I am amazed at how a minimal amount of effort, some time and some attention to technique and detail can produce such delicious food. I have taken inexpensive cuts of beef, pork and chicken and turned them into culinary delights. My husband and I are not novice cooks however, I cannot take any real credit for these amazing results aside from having the good sense to purchase this book and follow the directions. I can't wait to get my hands on Vol. II. ... show more
