  • Textbook example of a bad design that somehow became a product.
Size: 2.1 inches
It was not obvious until I tried to use it, but you can only fill one half of the sphere with tea leaves using a spoon. Think about it, this is essentially a hemispherical container with a hemispherical lid. And a lid of any shape that is not flat is stupid because you can’t capture anything on a lid since gravity will make the leaves fall when you try to close the lid. The only way to fill the entire sphere would be if you have a large bag of the tea leaves in which case you can “submerge” this open strainer into the leaf bag and pinch a good chunk of tea leaves in between the halves. I’ve done this and it is a hassle because you get too many leaves and the strainer won’t close until you remove the correct amount. To recap: You have can’t set this on a table while filling it because it does not have a flat bottom, and so is unstable; and you have a lot of wasted space inside the lid that does not get used. In the end I see only two purposes for this abomination of a product: 1. As a teaching tool for design students so they can see an extremely bad design that somehow became a product 2. As a teaching tool to the public at large so they can learn that good Amazon reviews do not a good product make. At the time of this writing this product has 899 reviews with an average rating of 3.4 stars. Why anyone would rate this thing anything above the minimum score is beyond me. ... show more

  • Not 100% stainless steel.
Size: 2.1 inches
Cheap metal and tasted like tin. The mesh might be stainless steel but the frame and chain are some cheap magnetic metal. A magnet picked these up by the frame and chain with no problem. These produced a horrible metallic taste in the brewed tea and one was starting to rust at the hinge. I promptly returned these. ... show more

  • Love these
Size: 2.1 inches
I have always used a tea press for my loose leaf tea, but with these I don't need the additional clutter in my cupboards. These can store opened up inside one another and stack nicely in a drawer or cupboard. Easy to clean and easy to use. I first bought one of these at a local store and I got one for about the same price as getting two here! I liked them so much I bought 2 sets of 2, so we can take them with us when we travel as well as keeping some at home. Also, this gives us the ability to offer delicious tea to our guests and not have to wait to use the tea press for each cup. Great product, and great gift idea for anyone that likes loose leaf tea. ... show more

  • I cannot breach enough that tese tea holders saved my life.
Size: 2.1 inches
Don’t know how I could make tea without it. The water was flavorful, the leaves were sequestered into the mesh, however i did have some concerns. A few very tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny tea leaved did escape from the tea holder. Actually now that i think about it it could have been a bug or it could have been tea from last time i don’t wash my cups all the time sometimes i just rinse them. Our dishwasher just broke last week so i have to hand wash them and i haven't done that since i was a girl. I really am out of the habit so its just going to take 30 days to create the new habit then i wont have this problem. I really need someone to fix my dishwasher so if you know a good plumber or whoever it is in charge of dishwashers, i’m not really sure, send them my way. Anyway, i think this product is really worthwhile. I would buy more. Came in a 2 pack but i could really use 3. Wish i had the option to buy a 1 pack but anyway 5 starts!! ... show more

  • Great for most loose leaf teas
Size: 2.1 inches
I drink a lot of tea, and I really like loose leaf tea. These are a great way to make loose leaf tea and they strain most of the tea leaves, sometimes there are some bits that get through those little mesh holes and then get all in your mouth, but I guess that has to do with the size and type of loose tea you buy. Someone once told me that you can see your future in your tea leaves.. Sounds like crazy business to me, but it made me think, like.. could there be something to that? Could your life be foreseen in the leaves of the tea you drink? It actually got me thinking, and so every time I would brew up a cup of tea, I would look a little closer at the leftover leaves. I thought maybe there was some kind of real truth behind it, some sort of deep truth of inner conectedness that was shared by all things. I could maybe get behind a concept like that. Maybe the small things like the way you drank your tea and the way you walked or breathed had a small impact on the things around you and spread out like the supposed butterfly effect. Maybe it wasn't so crazy. Maybe everything mattered and at the same time nothing mattered, since we were all just interconnected beings made of the same cells and molecules and atoms that made up every other thing in the universe. But the leaves in the tea could be interpreted and read to reveal a future that hadn't been written but rather created a sort of self fulfilling prophecy that only made itself known and only came into existence though its own observation. And did that mean that by merely observing an idea, that you could bring that idea into existence? Thus being part of the ever changing creative force of all existence? Also make sure to wash these strainers and dry them properly after every use, so they don't become rusty. ... show more

  • Better than tea bags
Size: 2.1 inches
I wasn’t sure how often we’d use these, but they are so convenient that we use them all the time! We have a hot water option on our water cooler and we love trying different varieties of loose tea, but sometimes we empty tea bags into them so with these little tea balls we can have tea quickly and easily any time we want it. Loose tea seems to provide stronger flavor which my family enjoys. There’s a little latch that holds the tea ball closed, but we do lose some tea (not too much) because the latch doesn’t seem as tight as maybe it should be. To be fair, we use these often so maybe they just aren’t as tight anymore. Overall, this was a good purchase. ... show more

  • A Struggle to Use & One is Defective
Size: 2.1 inches
First of all, I've never used this kind of tea ball before, so some instructions would have been nice. It took me a while to figure out how to keep the dang ball closed! Then, once I was able to close one (not a cinch to do), I discovered it was a hassle to open. I had to use a knife to pry it open. One was defective; it wouldn't line up correctly to shut. THE BOTTOM LINE: I like my tea time to be a peaceful time of enjoyment. Having to struggle to make a cup of tea with these tea balls does not constitute peace or enjoyment. ... show more
