  • The keys are flimsy
Style: File Box
I had a similar beige / tan lock box I bought several years ago but seem to have lost the key on it. All these boxes use similar keys. So I bought this just so I could replace the key. The key turnstile was had to figure out on old and new because it can go left or right and you can over turn it slightly without it opening. So I forgot which way and tried to turn it right or counterclockwise and thought it was stuck so ended up bending the key somewhat before realizing it should go left or counterclockwise. At least the send you two keys. They need to make the metal keys stronger. ... show more

  • Spacious, but the lock is a pain
Style: File Box
I got this file box not for files, but to stash snacks my kids have a habit of swiping without permission. I was surprised to find that the interior was more spacious than I thought it would be. I was able to put in 30 packs of peanut butter crackers and 24 individual packs of trail mix with lots of room left over. So, it works well for the purpose in which I intended. However, I knocked a star off of my rating because the lock is a royal pain. I do like that you have to slide the little lever thing to lift the lid, but the lock itself is really frustrating. Getting it unlocked is relatively easy, but getting the stupid thing to lock is quite the chore. You put the key in and turn it, and it clicks, but doesn’t lock. I sat here twirling the key in the lock for a full 5 minutes before the latch finally caught and the box was securely locked. I’m thinking this might only be a temporary solution to my kids’ bad habit, because I’ll pull my hair out if I have to deal with the lock a few times a day. ... show more

  • Great size
Style: File Box
Perfect for what I need it for

  • Works, it's fully metal but just ok
Style: File Box
The box is as described for the most part. I bought this to be able to lock up my kid's screens (part of a behavioral plan for screen addiction). It will work just fine. However, if you are looking for real security for sensitive files...uhh, no. The lock is cheaply made and there isn't a hasp or other external attachment to put allow for an additional separate lock to be used. To me, the price I paid wasn't too bad and it works for my purposes. ... show more

  • Durable steel box, good for the price
Style: File Box
Rails for hanging folders. But my folders hit the bottom before they hang. Good space for folder tabs. Lid closes and latches. Lock seems cheap, with flat keys stamped from sheet metal. Somewhat confusing which way to turn the key. Effective nevertheless to deter snooping. For a durable steel box, it does what I needed at a price I was willing to pay. ... show more

  • Ideal
Style: File Box
This was ideal for what I needed: a single, compact, portable file for all of my friend's vital documents.

  • This is a nice metal box for documents that need to be saved.
Style: File Box
I bought this as a gift for someone. It is a decent type of file holder, but it did come with a couple of small dents that distracted from the appearance of the item. It does not come with folders, so that is an additional purchase that you have to make. It does what it is designed to do.

  • Don't keep anything too important in it.
Style: File Box
I needed a box to keep some 'documents' in that I'd prefer no one would go snooping in. And look at that. Job well done! Anything crucial, valuable, or that you don't want found and/or stolen... get a safe. I'm not the sharpest, but I typically grasp the basic concept of locks. Especially key locks. Put key in. Turn key one way = locked, take key out. To open... put key back in... turn other way. Unlocked! Take key out. Not with this thing. I sat here for an embarrassingly long amount of time trying to figure out how to lock the thing... and I'm still not completely sure if it is locked... The key looked slightly bent, but it still worked. One of the corners was dented as well. Getting the key in is the first task. You have to line up the slot. Then it just turns. Either way. Until the end of time. Clockwise lock? Or counter-clockwise? Might as well flip a coin. Unless you're a locksmith or a safe-cracker, it's hard to tell. There's a little slider switch by the lock which I assumed was the 'open' button. I'd turn til the open button didn't move and hoped that locked it, but then the key wouldn't come out. I ended up just fumbling around with it until key came out and I couldn't get the lid open... so I hope it's locked. And I hope I can get it open again without the use of a crowbar or sledgehammer. But honestly... I'm sure a screwdriver would do the trick. ... show more
