Description

The Master Lock no. 1174 pro series resettable combination padlock is designed for commercial/industrial applications and features a 2-1/4in (57mm) wide stainless steel body and a 1-1/16in (28mm) tall, 5/16in (8mm) diameter stainless steel shackle for extreme corrosion resistance. A set-your-own combination feature offers convenience and security with 10, 000 possible combinations – no reset tool required – and a deadlocking mechanism protects against prying, shimming and rap attacks. From the Manufacturer Designed for today's security requirements, the new Master Lock 1174 ProSeries Resettable Combination Locks combine the strength and weatherability needed to withstand harsh treatment and tough environments. Available in brass, stainless steel and durable die cast models, these locks have new features that improve weatherability, the dial dust cover and the shackle seals keep dust and grit out of the internal mechanisms for trouble-free operation. Stainless steel shackles are also available on some models. These ProSeries locks stand up to physical attacks like no other resettable can. The enhanced octagonal boron-carbide shackles are twice as hard to cut as standard hardened shackles and the dead-locking mechanism holds against pry, shim and rap attacks. The ProSeries Resettable Combination locks combine these security improvements with added user convenience. With 10,000 possible combinations, the large ergonomic dials permit operation with gloves, in low light or complete darkness. These locks are also easily set with no special reset tool required.

We purchased these nearly five years ago. We needed to secure our gates, but wanted something that our service providers could use to let themselves in. We considered a "digital" (app-based) solution, but they were really expensive, and and I had some concern that they might not be as secure (hacking) and might not hold up as well as an "analog" lock, so we went with this one. While we don't open these every day, we probably do 50 times or so a year, and they work today like they did when we purchased them years ago. There's no rust, and the combination wheels still turn freely. The one negative I have is more a usability thing (and always causes confusion when we bring on a new company) which is lining up the numbers isn't in the middle, as expected. There is a line at the top, but no matter how many times we tell new folks, they don't seem to get it (and I guess don't see the line) and call to say the lock doesn't work. Perhaps this has been fixed since then (it *has* been a while), but I think in terms of negatives, this is probably pretty minor anyway. Hopefully I don't jinx things, but if something happens to the locks that we currently have, I'd purchase these again. ... show more

We have tried several of the solid brass outdoor combination locks, but they tend to corrode and lock up or break internally when exposed to wet weather. This stainless steel lock has held up and continues to work perfectly. *****Update 1/16/2015***** I just ordered this lock again because they work so well and last, and last in outdoor environments. I see a few reviewers had trouble with jams. The lock can be hard to turn if you have tension on the lock - as in something trying to pull the lock open while it is locked and you are trying to turn the numbers. Simple, relieve the tension folks! Then the numbers turn freely. This is by far, the best outdoor combination lock I've found. ... show more

Strong well made lock. Firstly it shipped to me on time in perfect condition. The lock itself is well made strong and works well with one small annoyance. The "weather resistant" rubber flap that covers the dial when not in use on the other hand is a completely useless waste of patience and clearly a poorly thought out designed and implemented piece of junk. To be fair it really doesn't effect the use of the otherwise good lock. The flap is made of rubber and swings over the dial to keep road debris and water off your locks dial, great concept, but the flap has two small rubber bars that extend from each side and fit in two small holes in the licks metal to form a hinge. Problem with it is the rubber is so soft and flimsy that it just falls out when used and the flap pressure fits to hold itself in place and again to soft of rubber and it falls open continuously. I could see this set up being fine on a outdoor shed you rarely use but I use mine on a truck that is used daily and have given up on the flap. The other small annoyance on the lock is that you have to push the hasp into the lock to allow the dial's tumbler to move freely to unlock the lock, small annoyance. The lock is solid and sturdy. The flap on the bottom will easily come off. Luckily, it's not a deal breaker. I pulled if off after I got tired of reattaching it. I like that I can set my own code for it.

I bought 3 of these in Dec 2021 as an "upgrade" from what I was using and two have failed so far. I was told to "return them to the store". I have never seen an Amazon store! What does this mean?? As someone else said before, the rubber piece is totally useless, it fell off right away and will not stay in place. The marks for setting the numbers are not in the center of the bottom, creating confusion for the multiple users that are using my locks. I had to paint stripes on the lock to solve that problem. I thought I was buying a quality lock, these are not it. I am looking for a GOOD quality lock to replace them. ... show more
