based only on online reviews, i took a chance and bought this machine without trying it out. it was everything i could have hoped for and more. the machine itself is sturdy, solid, heavy. runs super-quiet with minimal vibration. and after several sessions, the battery hasn't run out on me once. after a five hour session, it still seemed to have enough juice to run for another hour. the inclusion of the rca adapter is a nice touch in case you're afraid of the battery completely giving out on you. (note: when i bought this, there wasn't a 2-battery combo available) the only thing that could be considered a "con" would be that it's a bit thicker than my previous machines so i had to buy bigger protective sleeves for it (i had plenty of 2" wide ones but had to get some 2.4" ones). i personally don't see this as a con, tho, as it actually saves me from having to wrap as much grip tape on the machine. the stroke adjustment is a bit hard to turn but, once again, this is actually a plus as you do NOT want that changing on you mid-session or when you're adjusting your throw. if it was intentional, it's a clever design. now.. the question on everyone's mind.. does it hit hard enough? ABSOLUTELY! i haven't even used it past the 3.9mm stroke and it's hitting like a jackhammer! now, to be fair, i've not tried to use it with anything bigger than a 120913rm but, as you can see from the photos, it has MORE than plenty of punch to pack the ink in. i have no complaints about this machine thus far. it has stood up to long sessions and heavy use. if i HAD to find a complaint, it would be the lack of a second battery. but given the fact that that's not a quality defect of the machine, it keeps its full five stars! This little beast is great for shading, color packing ,and lines (up to 9rl). It does have a harder time punching in those thicker liners or round shaders. It is a fatter style so takes less wraps to get it comfortable in my hand. And man is this thing quiet. With a good brand of needle like CNC or Rhein, it just purrs. I have noticed cartridges feel a little more snug when twisting, but I have not had any come loose or not go in. Changing depths is easy and has a nice spring bearimg click feel. For home use or learning this thing is perfect. As a day in day out grinder in a shop, I think it would be better to save youe money up and purchase another machine made for that. ... show more

Skip the kit and just get the 2 batteries. Unlike the Archer, this battery doesn't last 15hrs lol. So the back up is needed. But the kit was crap. Just a few things you don't need. Especially the box of needles! They gave me #04 1RLs....when would anyone ever need that small of a needle!?! I tried one and pulled a line and thought the needle was gonna snap! But the machine is great. Only prob I have with it is for some reason I can't keep it wrapped. I bag it and tape it and the bag constantly slips forward. I've tried taping harder and further back and it still moves. But that's a small complaint compared to how awesome the machine is. You can't beat being able to change your stroke like that. If Bishop followed suit I'd switch but until then I'm sticking with this guy I think. Better than the Peak Solice that's double the price. Def a good buy ... show more

I LOVE that this machine does so much. Easy to set the depth, easy to set the stroke and double batteries is awesome to have for a long session. I am so glad I went with this one. It is quiet, battery life is great, weight is great for me. I also love having the adapter for other batteries and a petal - although I don't use that often, it is great to have. I have been using this machine for a couple months now and the only thing that I can say I would like to be changed is that it came with another battery. Other than that this machine is powerful. It will handle larger needle sets no problem the adjustable stroke makes it perfect to go from lining to shading in a couple clicks. This machine does it all Lining,shading, color packing, pepper shading, you name it. Could not be happier with the performance of this machine. When you include that it is priced under $300 there is no reason that every artist shouldn’t have this machine in his/her Arsenal. ... show more

I ended up having to return 2 of them for malfunctions right out of the box. Once I got one that worked it preformed pretty well. It hits really soft so bold lining as I do for most tattoos, was difficult. Amazing shader though! If you’re looking to get into tattooing this is the best machine to do that.
